E-brake drifts will make those lights come on every time.

Re: Harmonic Tensioner Pulley BROKE OFF!
Yup, as far as I know those bolts were never touched.....it is due for a timing belt job in another 14k miles or so, but other than that my car was 100% unmodded when I bought it. Then I corrupted it :D

Re: Harmonic Tensioner Pulley BROKE OFF!
Damn it, the bolts are seized in there....off comings the timing cover and belt....and another few days for another part :(

Re: Harmonic Tensioner Pulley BROKE OFF!
Chris, my cousin works at that Sinclair, I saw your car sleeping there last night.

Re: Harmonic Tensioner Pulley BROKE OFF!
That sucks man! You might as well pull the engine and toss in a freshly built 2.3l!

My cousin is just the gas station attendant/pump bitch. Fills air, fills oil, stuff like that (he is 18). |
Re: Harmonic Tensioner Pulley BROKE OFF!
Got the car back last night. Dave at Golden Valley Sinclair worked on my car, I talked to him for quite a bit through the week and for about an hour last night when I picked up the car. I feel very confident in his abilities as a mechanic--it's not a Ferrari or anything (though it may be as fast as one?)! He pulled off the timing cover, pushed in the tensioner with the proper tool, and then yanked the pulley off and replaced it with a brand new one. Reset the timing and the reassembled. Not a full timing belt job but half way there at least. In the end I probably could have done it myself, but if anyone knows what happened at work the day before this happened, you would not want to deal with it either!
Here's some pics of the pulley, if you look closely you will see how the sheared off bolts got tweaked and goobered up the outside edge of a lot of the holes. The guide pin is gone as well, obviously left violently. http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoti...4341.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoti...4342.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoti...4346.sized.jpg more pics here: http://www.scheides.com/gallery/evotimingpulley I'll be doing a compression check and tossing it on the dyno here soon, I'm sure everything is dandy, the car runs like a top! |
Re: Harmonic Tensioner Pulley BROKE OFF!
Now i too have Janine's phone number! BWAHAHAHHAHHAHHAA

Re: Harmonic Tensioner Pulley BROKE OFF!
Wow, that pulley hung on for quite a while after the balancer bailed. That is quite a bit of damage to the bolt holes. Hopefully the main bearings are ok with all that imbalance that was going on. If not, stroker time!
|
Re: Harmonic Tensioner Pulley BROKE OFF!
Yup, I think everything is fine. I'll do an oil change and compression test for grins, but the car runs awesome. And JET yes you are right!

Re: Harmonic Tensioner Pulley BROKE OFF!
Glad everything is back in order!

Re: Harmonic Tensioner Pulley BROKE OFF!
Changed the oil the other night and my oil filter has a few good dings in it:
http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoti...0052.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/evoti...0053.sized.jpg I sent some oil off to blackstone just to see what they say about it, but I am sort of considering myself lucky for now, the car drives just dandy....put about 800 miles on it since getting it back together and no problems yet. |
Re: Harmonic Tensioner Pulley BROKE OFF!

Re: Harmonic Tensioner Pulley BROKE OFF!
Dont these come from the factory with an undertray? I would think even a shitty plastic one would deflect some of this stuff.
|
Re: Harmonic Tensioner Pulley BROKE OFF!
They do, but a lot of people remove them since they are a real PITA.
|
Re: Harmonic Tensioner Pulley BROKE OFF!
I WANT an undertray, the stock one would not have blocked this. It does not reach back past the front of the block; the oil filter is completely exposed. I'm looking at this undertray that buschur is selling now, it goes back past the block and all the way to the wheel wells.
