Re: House Projects
Geez, once Brandon's house was done this thread died off! Anyone have any good summer projects or planned winter projects for the home?
|
Re: House Projects
Projects are always rollin on my end. Bathroom is done, still have to post pics. Been working random small stuff, and on landscaping during the summer -built a retaining wall in front. Going to finish those projects next spring.
Inside over winter Ill be doing the other bathroom - Paint, new flooring, reseal the shower, different hardware, lighting, etc. Also Im replacing all doors with 6 panel white doors and stainless hardware. Trim will stay natural wood but may paint white later on. Building a media center upstairs with some cabinetry. Debating laminate wood flooring for upstairs as well. Downstairs Id like to build a wet bar as well. That should keep my winter busy. |
Re: House Projects
since I moved into my new house, I've had tons of projects going on as well. First thing was getting the lawn in order before fall. Then we had to build out a the master closet as we had the wire closet organizer and they collapsed shortly after we moved in. Ended up going with a custom closet. Lastly, the garage needed to get finished before winter so I could get it heated. Here are some pics from the garage. I didn't think to take pics initially, so I don't have great progress pics, but here are some at least.
Initial garage (trying to clean up the previous owners wiring): http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...e/IMG_1255.jpg I added 9 recessed lights, 8 outlets, and a ceiling fan. Along with that I wired in four in ceiling JBL speakers all to my receiving by the door. Some Sheetrock up after doing some insulation. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...e/IMG_1293.jpg One of the speakers: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...e/IMG_1289.jpg Some of the ceiling: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...e/IMG_1308.jpg Some of the walls: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...e/IMG_1294.jpg A lot more wall: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...e/IMG_1356.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...e/IMG_1299.jpg Some wide angle shots: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...30920718_o.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...81212413_o.jpg Ceiling is done! http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...e/IMG_1380.jpg At this point, I have very little rock left. All lighting in the garage is EcoSmart "Cree" LED bulb/fixtures. Just need to get the ceiling fan up and finish a couple other things. The garage floor will be finished in the spring and hopefully get a 4-post lift in the 3rd stall after getting some final measurements. |

Looks really good!

Re: House Projects
Very nice! Sounds like it's going to be exactly like my dream garage when your finished

Re: House Projects
Slowly but surely... Its one of those things where I don't have a ton of help and I am stuck doing a lot of it by myself. I did 10' on the ceiling which is 88lb a sheet and 12' on the walls so I could have minimal seams to mud/tape. Hoping to get the walls finished within the next couples weeks and then get the heater plumbed in.

Re: House Projects
All sorts of awesome has been happening at my house this fall, mostly in the name of energy efficiency.
New 14.5 SEER 5-ton A/C system, lots of painting, and now today efficiency work up in the attic. I had 5" of insulation added to my attic bringing it R-49 which is what's recommended for Dallas (code in 2002 when my house was built was 12"), had an extra roof turbine vent added, got an attic door tent, and had a radiant barrier applied to the underside of the roof. Basically, all this was done to keep the attic cooler in the summer, keep the air fresh and dry, and keep the A/C or heat inside the house rather than escaping into the attic. Next up is replacing all the bathroom and kitchen faucets, and come spring add some better ventilation to the garage and add a radiant barrier to the inside of the garage door (garage door faces south). |

my house projects include just installing a projector(freebie) and now doing some homework to find the best paint mix for a wall. Not to mention the other thousand projects which seem to come up non stop with home ownership! |

So the the entire in-law clan came from Fargo and stayed with us over the holiday. All of the spare rooms and everything in our new house proved perfect, never felt overly crowded, perfect for having her fam down!
Her dad happens to be a master electrician, owns his own electrical contracting company up there called Fritz Electric. Anyhow, he brought some spare fluorescent fixtures he had laying around with him and a bunch of wire. Spent a few hours yesterday installing them into the "shop" area of the garage. Gathered everyone together like the Griswold's at Christmas, said Let There Be Light, and voila! I turned the brightness down on the camera because there is so much light now that it was making it hard to take pics. So the pics are deceiving a little, it is so nice and brightly lit there now, I love it! Also put shelves above the lights to get things up off the floor. Also added a shelf right above the rear of the boat stall. And added a bunch of hooks to hang up shovels, brooms, wheel barrow, etc. Garage feels SOOO much cleaner and spacious now!! |
Re: House Projects
Damn! Nice work, its so bright around the SC!
