Re: 91 Galant VR4
Unsafe, as it turns out, haha.
Edit: ooh, now that I think about it, I bet it caught on fire, if he pulled an Aaron. |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
^Thx.
Good luck john, let me know if you need a hand aka tool monkey. I'm usually around. |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Matt, look at exactly what he quoted. Nothin to do with tranny.
Chinese firedrill in the moontaxi anyone? John, I wanna see you run that white cbr1000rr that was there on the dyno evening..:D |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
I got a R1 you can run when you are ready.

Re: 91 Galant VR4
I need to pull the wiring harness from the engine bay and figure out what happened, and send the EMS to AEM to see if they can fix it. The tranny shifts fine at 9500, the car has plenty of traction with the tires, at least from a 2nd gear roll to rev limiter in 4th.

So what happened exactly?

Re: 91 Galant VR4
My bad for saying anything before I knew exactly what happened. I will take some picks when I get home. The main engine bay harness under the intake manifold started on fire. I am not sure where or why it started on fire, but lucky for me someone in a truck driving by had a fire extinguisher on hand.
I should have waited until I tore into what happened before I posted or said anything. |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Sorry I gave you a wedgie Chris. MY condolences to your cornhole. I guess I forgot the seriousness of a build thread and posting to-the-point comments, when I look in my thread, and it's trash ;)

Re: 91 Galant VR4
I like the secretive thing, it tests my car/people knowledge! It's a good thing wires are super easy to fix.
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Its to bad the inside of the EMS is not as easy to fix.
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
And even then, yes fixing it is whatever. But, as usual, the hardest part is answering why and how it happened, and preventing it from occuring again.
John, go to target yet? I'm going in a few minutes, I can double check/verify for ya if you want. |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
The only thing that makes sense right now is the main starter wire had an issue, the car still ran up to the point the fire burnt threw the main harness, just above it, shorted out wires and then the car died.

Re: 91 Galant VR4
No issues with any injector or seal leaking at all, on your made rail? I've seen even the SMALLEST of imperfection, metal nick, torn seal, etc leak. But, knowing you, i'm beating a dead horse, and you have already checked that all.
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
I will leave the fuel rail on when I pull the SMIM off and test the fuel rail for leaks with an air hose and 135psi. And I suppose your Target comment is to piss scheides off?

Re: 91 Galant VR4
No, I meant what I spoke to you about on Sunday, dealing with fire extinguishers?

Sorry for the rants, just idk guys pretend we're posting on the internet or something, no code-words needed...just tell it like it is, include some pics, maybe some references to where said info came from or what the shit you're about to mention is in relation to...you know, like we're talking to each other. Basic grammer and shit. You know, the stuff that helps set this site apart from some of the others out there? I'm trying here. Help me out a little please :) |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Chris, It was a discussion I had with John on Sunday when I traveled up there to pick up my AEM. You can purchase automotive fire extinguishers from target, which we where talking about. I didn't want to flat out say all that happened, since it's not MY car to reveal info about. I merely told Matt that he was wrong about the tranny being an issue. The target thing I was not confused about, nor was it a slam at you.
