Re: House Projects
I've also been looking at DuPont Corian and LG Hausys Hi-Macs. My intentions all along have been to avoid stainless steel appliances and granite countertops.

Thanks guys, we do go a bit all out, but have fun with it and scare the older children on Halloween which adds some fun. |
Re: House Projects
We are pretty happy with our Corian counters. There are a few light cut marks in it though, not quite as durable as Quartz.
|
Re: House Projects
I like my granite counters, they came with the house.
I must say i do not like that they do not clean up well. They have a lot of water stains that I can't get out. |
Re: House Projects
Take a razor blade to the hard water stains, thats what I have to do from time to time, cleans right up.

Re: House Projects
Thanks boss!

Re: House Projects
The final piece was delivered on Friday morning! Very happy with the new set. I especially like how quickly the oven pre-heats and how quickly it can boil water.

Re: House Projects
Final deck pictures, it's all done finally! Now to just get some furniture for it for grilling out!

Re: House Projects
Nice deck! Twss. Just in time for winter haha, still nice to check that off your list.
I have to stain mine next spring, not looking forward to that. |

Yea, it took way longer to get done than I had hoped. Mainly because it was tough lining up the guys helping me out on the side as they obviously didn't want to work every free minute they had. |
Re: House Projects
Looking good!

Re: House Projects
Perfect timing actually as it's probably the time of year when patio furniture starts going on clearance.

Re: House Projects
IDK if I ever posted but garage project is done for now, got all of the holes and misc gaps closed up with new seals and such so we'll put the heater to the test once the snow starts to fly!
Anyone know any wireless-enabled line-voltage thermostats that support 208V/30A ? :) Fucking Hughes and a coworker of mine jinxed me I swear. Him with the new hotness and coworker was going on about how flaky refridgerators are. My fridge defrosted the freezer one weekend earlier this summer and then started working again before much more than the ice cream melted...well last weekend it kicked the bucket for good. It was like 47°F in the freezer and only got down to 57°F in the fridge. Needless to say I threw away a shitload of good food :( Thankfully the beer didn't spoil so natually I found a replacement beer fridge that has a little extra room for normal groceries :) http://www.scheides.com/albums/house...8683.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/house...8693.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/house...8701.sized.jpg Will have to slowly re-stock it, these things are not cheap. It's a GE Adora 25.9, and because my house is pretty old the cabinet above it was sagging a bit so it needed to be cut about a half inch...the day it was going to be delivered I was scheduled for a customer training with like 20 people that I could not reschedule so TKR Mark swung by and made sure the delivery guys didn't hit my tv on the way in (front door was the only option) and he must have been bored because the damn thing was hooked up and ready to rock for me by the time I got home! Such a freaking rock star--thanks again dude! |

Re: House Projects
Working on quotes for our theater room. Getting close to pulling the trigger. Jet you recommended the Benq W1070 projector. Still your recomendation? Or is there a better bang for the buck out there now? Looking on Amazon I see those and 1075, 1080, 1085. All under $1k which is my goal, best bang for the buck under 1k
|
Re: House Projects
Looking at reviews, it seems those models have very similar specs, except the newer ones are short throw so they only have to be a few feet away from the wall for a 100" picture. Are you going to do ceiling mount? Or playing games where you might shadow the picture, or is it just for movies? If just watching movies from a ceiling mount, the 1070 is the best bang for the buck imho.
|
Re: House Projects
Kind of a toss up between the 1070 and 1075. The 1075 does have a little better picture. Reviews said they would pay an extra 10-15% for the slightly better picture and it is at a 15% premium on Amazon right now. Keep an eye out for a black friday special on either one.
|
Re: House Projects
Cool. Yeah it will be mounted to the ceiling. Short throw would be nice, just wondering if i really need it.
|
Re: House Projects
Depends on what size screen you end up going with. If you do need short throw then go with the 1085, it can make a 100" picture at 5'8". I like the projector farther pack if possible so you don't see it.
|
Re: House Projects
Yea ceiling should work just fine for you B, thats what ill be doing soon as well after the bar and basement bathroom are done this winter. Let me know how that projector works if you get one! Great reviews it looks like. I was looking at another one as well, this one:

Re: House Projects
So we finally have most the details squared away enough to start. Found a contract we like. Plan is to start next week on construction, and be done before Super Bowl.
Just picked up 6 of these sconces for the walls in there, pretty sweet looking we thought. http://images.lbllighting.com/Config...on/1195/01.jpg Jet sorry I've gotten your texts but haven't wanted to buy anything until I was for sure we were ready to go. So now that we are, let me know if you notice a deal on that projector. I do kinda like the 1075 too so let me know if you notice a deal on those too. The short throw on to 1080 is interesting too if we wanted to play Wii or something, less risk of blocking the image. Not sure if I really need that though for the added cost. Stereo, I've decided I want better speakers. I already have a sub Im happy with, so mainly looking for a 5.0 speaker setup. Kinda like the projector, we are looking for a bang for the buck setup. I had a line on a sweet Klipche setup for a great deal but that fell through. I really don't need that though, looking for decent sound with a decent cost, not uber cheap and not BarFly style either. Any recommendations there? Here is one brand that Im finding a lot of reviews online for being good but inexpensive. They sell 3 different grades, this one is the mid grade. http://www.cnet.com/products/fluance-sx-htb/ Also heard good stuff about this Pioneer line as well being good bang for the buck http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...eater+Speakers |
Re: House Projects
I will watch out for more deals on them. Bang for the buck it is really hard to beat Polk speakers. I have a Polk setup if you want to hear it sometime (except for the sub). I bought a pair of small bookshelf speakers when we moved in to our house that was a temporary thing and I was blown away by how well they sounded and they are very balanced too. I moved those to the surrounds and got bigger fronts and a matching center channel. Very happy and not real expensive.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...=-1&isNodeId=1 Monitor 60's for the front, 25 for the center and 40's for the rear and you are at $520. Basically the same setup I have. |

Looks like a MIB door or some futuristic door. Took me awhile to realize that it was a light. Cool! |
Re: House Projects
^Same, when I first saw it, this looked like a hallway with a door at the end, weird lol.
Cool lights though, I have seen them before. |
Re: House Projects
Go big or go home right?
Bought some stuff today from Best Buy Magnolia. Was a real nice guy, came to our house to do a consultation, so just decided to get stuff from him and be done. He knocked a whole bunch of money off so pay no attention to the list prices, and I'll get 10% back from reward zone points. Front towers http://www.bestbuy.com/site/bowers-a...&skuId=4828009 Center http://www.bestbuy.com/site/bowers-w...&skuId=4826038 Surrounds and Atmos http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sonance-Visu.../dp/B00LA5KFWC Receiver http://www.bestbuy.com/site/denon-16...&skuId=4158023 Also got all my cabling from them as well as a small equipment rack. Glad that's done and over with. Next I'm just waiting on some Amazon gift cards to show up so I can order up the Benq. |
