Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
ok new message from the seller now. He said when he turns the key, there is no lights, car wont turn over, nothing happens. Any suggestions?
|
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
Dead battery. When was the last time he started the car? Ask him if he tried jump starting the car.
Why did he do all the upagrades and still have a 14B in the car? That does not make sense to me. |
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
this is starting to be in my favor now, I PMed him and asked when did last change the battery and if he had tried to jump it.
|
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
ok here's whats gonna happen. Im gonna send my friend the cash for the car. He's gonna go check out the car and see if the seller is Scamming. If he's not then the car is mine otherwise I'll keep my money.

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
You don't need a different ECU if the FS add is correct, you only need the ECU to be socketed(if it isn't already) and then a Eprom chip. Chips can be purchased from www.DSMChips.com or through a variety of other places. If you're going to tune with DSMLink, why are you looking at purchasing a custom Eprom chip? You had better start reading on your "plans" before you start purchasing things.
|
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
in his for sale add he thinks his ECU shorted out because of the power steering line above it leaked into it. If I misread it then I apologize then. With this car this is what Im going for: Slowboy Racing Stage 3 head, Magnus Intake Manifold, 680cc injectors, PTE 57 trim turbo, DSMLink and maybe a 6 point roll bar.
|
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
Do you have a horsepower or 1/4 mile goal or are you just basing your "plans" off of what looks cool?
|
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
I wanted a car that can holds own and still be a daily driver.
|
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
The ECU is no where near the power steering lines. But it does sound like a bad ECU to me. Read up on leaky caps.
BTW, let me know if you'd be selling those rims and tires. Steve Quote:

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
I haven't paid for the car yet, read what I said will happen. I asked him if he has opened the ECU and checked. I misunderstood his ad then, is the Alternator under the power steering lines?
|
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
you should probably read more about DSMs. Dont jump on the bandwagon, its bad for you and your wallet. Also, just buy a stock one in good condition. You can easily find one for under 4000.
|
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
I would not plan on having this car as a daily driver as of yet. Why does he have a stage three head for a 14b? I agree with cudvig do more research before you jump in head first. Yelling and bitching at the car once you got is not going to make it run. Trust me on this. I had my car for three years now and the most milage I put on it has been 600 miles and it is for test driving the car after I thought I got the problem fixed.
|
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
oh no no bro I want to put in a stage 3 head along with a PTE 57trim turbo. The head is stock with HKS 264/272 cams.
|
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
There is one I found in North Cali stock for 1500 just needs bodywork.
|
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
if you get a car, dont plan on modding it if it is got any problems at all. DSMs are even worse with this case. one problem turns into several in a little amount of time. think of down the road with the car. do you want 10s like everyone else? or something realistic like 12s or maybe 11s. That only you can decide. And trust me, learn ALOT more in advance then when your stuck with it.

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
with the setup I listed I should be in 11's. Im not looking make a super fast car or anything. I've been on team-2g.com for nearly a year now and I asked a moderator what mods would I need for a daily driver car that will hold it's own and he gave a list of mods which this car has but missing the items that mentioned.
|
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
Sorry to burst your internet bubble but a 11 second car is a FAST daily driver.
Unless you run into modded vipers, modded vettes, and exotics all day long... |
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
When you end up parting out whatever DSM you buy because you blew it up, be sure to post a FS ad in the classifieds cause I'm sure there may be parts off of it I would be interested in.
-Moral of the above statement: IMHO, by the way you speak in your posts, you need to drastically increase your DSM knowledge before purchasing some random car and slapping a 57 trim and Magnus on it. |
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
I agree, 11's is super fast. I was running mid 12's Saturday only because of some issues and i was blowing the vettes away and easily the new GTO's. I have an 11 sec car though. I'd never want to run anything faster than 11.50 because i don't want to put a cage in my car. You are probably gonna need more than a 57 trim turbo and HKS cams to get you well into the 11's.
If you want 11's all day, get yourself a good set of jackstands because the car is probably wanna get to know them very well. |
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
Why a 57 trim? That is a pretty worthless turbo. Go with the 50 trim, basically the same flow, but more efficient on a 2.0. If you want to go bigger, get the GT56 wheel. Either will get in the 11's. It is going to cost some money to get in the 11's. FMIC, clutch, injectors, fuel control, exhaust, turbo, etc. I wouldn't bother with a stage 3 head though, the stocker has made well over 500 whp numerous times.
|
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
Yeah, listen to JET. Back about a year ago I was gonna get one of those 57 trims and more than one person steered me away from it. Compare the compressor maps. The 50 trim has a much better map. Don't compare the 50 vs 57 numbers themselves. Naturally you'd think (57), well that must be a bigger and better turbo. Not so true. I bought a PTE 50 trim and I'm MORE than happy with it. I went 12.44 with it on Saturday at ONLY 19# of boost. Had I done my homework that day and troubleshot a problem, I should have easily been in the 11's with 25-26# of boost. By the way, that was on a stock 2g head, except for 272 cams. Only the rough casting was ported. Nothing was hogged out. Start with the smaller mods first like some that JET mentioned in the list. Don't get a big turbo and try to make it work with what you got. You'll be disgusted.
|
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
I went 123 mph on 26#'s with a PTE 50 trim and a bone stock head and intake manifold. She still had a lot more in it, but the engine was crankwalked.

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
so..any word on the car?

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
I think a lot of people will be envious of you if you get that car. It's nice, and has some expensive parts very few of us have, but want ;) If you get it, I hope you get it fixed easily. But I agree with some other people, sounds like you have a bit more reading and listening to do. But who the hell am I to say anything.

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
Seller fucked me over and sold it. He's been pretty shady as well, my friend was supposed to look at it and was never able to reach him on the phone. But whatever man I bet a 16 year old kid bought it and will deal with the headaches now. Still on the prowl for a car. I have 4k in my pockets ready to buy if the deal is good.
|
Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
I probably wouldn't buy it to get it running for the fact that he says you couldn't have a mechanic look it over before buying it. That alone makes me think the motor and tranny are trash or the electrical is really messed up. I would of only bought it to part out. It was over 1600 miles away from minnesota though.

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD

Re: Sealed the Deal on a Talon TSi AWD
