Well everyone said the stock wheels had to go and I totally agree, but they worked great to kick around for the winter months though. So I bought some rims to toss on for the few months of summer.

Since I bought it like 7 months ago I bought the following mods for it. I shouldn't of modded a fucking Grand Prix I know but can't help it.

Modular Pulley system (quick change)
w/ 3.5", 3.0", 2.8", 2.5" pulleys
Wizaird Cold Air Intake System
ZZP re-flashed PCM (ECU)
Full 3" Dynomax Exhaust
Autolite 103's
B&M Tranny Cooler
Triple A pillar Autometer Cobalt Gauges (thanks Swanny) w/ trans temp, boost, and Air Fuel Gauges.

Some of the parts I haven't installed yet because its been winter obviously. With the parts I have for it now it should make about 330whp supposedly. Maybe I will try it out at the dyno day if I get my ass in gear and install the rest of the shit I have laying in my garage.

Anyway here are a few pics of the new rims. The are Amercian Eagle 077's 18X8 wrapped in 245/45/ZR18 Bridgestone Potenze S-03's. These tires are sticky as fuck.

Looks pretty tight! Now drop it chip it, uh...nevermind.

Seriously though, get those mods on and bring that thing to the dyno day! I want to know what it puts down!

I've been having all kinds of fun with my car, lucky I have bitched enough that everything has been covered under the GM Certified(what a joke) warranty:
-Full 4 wheel alignment
-Replacement of both serpentine belts
-1 tire was mounted backwards
-Front right lower control arm bushing was pressed in upside down and from everything the mechanic could tell, it had been that way since the car was new
-Right front hub replaced
-Both outer tie rods replaced
-Driver's door wiring harness was mispositioned resulting in my tint being scratched; dealership took off the door panel and correctly positioned the harness
-Transmission shift control assembly replaced

Those are the stock tires on the STi. They are sticky as hell!

PS I sorta like the grandprix GTP but its too big! damnit..

Glad you are liking the tires, wheels look much better than stock too. May I recomend a set of Eibach Pro-Kit springs? ;)

Yeah I was thinking of lowering it but I don't want to stick anymore money into it really. Who knows if I find some used ones for the right price I will do it.

Yeah its a big car but thats what I like about it. It has every possible option you can get. Bose stereo, heated leather seats, ect. Its a good cruiser beater.

I am happy with overall size of the tires and rims as well. They look aftermarket and wide but not too wide. They match up with the fenders just perfect, they stick out a little but not too much. The tires look pretty wide from behind though.:)

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned

A buddy of mine and my old roomamte were big L67 freaks. Their cars with the same mods made around 280-290 horse at the wheels and well over 300 ftlbs of torque on local dynojets. In fact my roomates car had everything you have on a 3" pulley and different ratio rockers. They ran 13.4-13.6 all day long on BF drag radials a 50 shot just put one guy into the twelves.

The big problem with making more power is the stock blower sucks with anything smaller than a 2.8" pulley without an intercooler. The engines are pretty damn durable but they like to leak oil and coolant eventually.

A number of guys of the grand prix forums have put down well over 300whp with the same mods I have. But I have no personal data to back that up yet. The thing is with superchargers is that you basically know what you are going to make before you buy the part within reason. Since most of the bolts on are very common and have been tested thousands of times before. Unless your car is really low on compression or has something else wrong with it you usually make close to what they say you are going to make.

Alot rides on how you have your PCM setup too, with regards to timing and fuel maps. A lot companies aren't as aggresive or knowledgeable when re flashing PCMs with these cars. It makes a lot of difference in performance.

And the times are pretty accurate, there is really no point in even running them at the track since they are so damn heavy and FWD. It would take 400whp+ to get well into the 12s.

I didn't know they used an Eaton blower on those....Anyway, great lookin car! I wish I could negotiate as well as you did!

Well you guys said tint it so I did. Here are a few pictures. The tint is 3M 35% Black Chrome, this shit just came out so the GTP is one of the first cars to get it in Minnesota. It has no polyester and no dyes in so it is guaranteed never to fade. I am glad I didn't go any darker than 35% because it would have been way way to dark. This shit seems like 10%.

fuckin nice man! My galant has like 25% and at night it can seem kinda dark. when did you do that to your headlights?

I was drunk one night......ehhhh its a long story. Nah I don't know why I put headlight covers on it. I normally don't like them but for some reason they don't look to bad on a totally black car.

Kracka 05-03-2006 02:51 PM

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned

I am still up in the air about the headlight covers, normally I am not a fan but they kinda work on a blacked out car.

I'm surprised I haven't seen you around in Woodbury with that.

EDIT: Where did you get the tint from? It looks nice and my GSX needs some dark tint to offset the white.

I wouldn't mind having a GTP at all. Actually before Shifty convinced me to get a DSM, I was really looking into one.

I deffinately like the look of yours, Craig. Its funny because it fits you well. But I like everything you've done to it.

I really like those. They ride nice and are very comfortable.

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned

Yeah now I am lowering it 2" and adding some exhaust (atleast a catback and u-bend deleted downpipe) so I can run the smaller pulleys without getting knock retard. I can run the 3.25" pulley as it sits but if I do too many pulls or am on it too long it heat soaks really quick and then pulls timing.

I alreay have a full 3" Dynomax system. I am just debating on installing it because of terrible 'drone' on the highway. I might just do a downpipe with a exhaust cutout switch.

Yeah there a number of turboed GPs in the US. Not a bad idea as far as a motor platform. But the car is so damn heavy I would never waste the money.

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned

ive got 3'' custom made straigh exhaust on my gsx and its really quiet unless you punch it. i really like it. i wouldnt worry about a drone.

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned

brian, your car is also quieted down a bit with a turbo, and is a "half" motor..A buddy had a gp with a 3 inch magnaflow system, and the drone was actually not too bad. sounded nice, and the drone was not as loud as i expected.

what do u mean by half motor?

Swifty1638 05-04-2006 08:13 PM

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned

4 banger, not a v-6 or v-8, being twice as large as us.

usually, on a bigger motor, like the v8 exhausts are notably louder, and highway drone is more pertinant then a smaller motor. The main factor in this case here, is that you have a turbo in the way of the exhaust..craig doesn't. That really does make a difference.

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned

Your motor in your DSM is almost half the size of the GTP. 2.0L vs 3.8L as well as a few less cylinders. You cannot compare a 3" exhaust on a DSM to a GTP. Totally different sound all together. On a 3.8L it sounds like a V8 when its idling, but when you are at WOT it sounds like a cross between a WRX with a 3" exhaust and a 5 hp Briggs and Straton lawnmower.

What car have we been talking about this whole thread? If it was a DSM I was talking about I would be asking how I could fix it because it was broke down, not posting about some gay ass tint job I just got. I just have nothing else to talk about because the GTP always runs good.

Is it Thursday? I need a beer.

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned

hey i just caught wind of this from a buddy of mine. Not a bad car. I also have a 4 dr gtp, 2002. Somewhat heavily modded. I dont know where you've been reading about your car but please dont put anything lower than a 3.4 pulley on your car w/o somesort of a ported blower, or higher ratio rockers. Alot of GTP's do knock with stock boost, exhaust and a true CAI will help you run 0 or close to it with the 3.4" pulley. You'll need headers and a cam to run a 3.0 safely w/o an intercooler, and anything lower than a 3.0 will need an IC and better injectors. Not flaming, just educating :) I just ran a 12.95@107.5 yesterday at CFR, 2.0 60 as well:( I can post my mods and some pics/a video if you'd like. Also come check out www.mnclubgp.com , minnesotas grand prix home!

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned

With my mods I was seeing 0 KR running a 3.0" pulley on 110 octane gas. All of these cars are different though, some knock more than others. I scanned with a stock pulley all the way up. I saw a lot of KR when I was running stock exhaust and was trying to run a smaller pulley, when I put a full 3" exhaust it went away totally. I saw 1 or 2 here or there. On pump gas I never ran lower than a 3.5" since it knocked like crazy.

adam_murphy 10-08-2006 11:59 PM

Re: New Daily Driver 56k=Owned

awesome, glad your actually scanning your car unlike alot of gp owners, and wonder why they're cars are slow or blow up.
