I confirmed it with my dad, we are staying in the motorhome at the track. If anyone else isn't bringing a car and wants to stay at the track, let me know. We have one bed open yet. It should be ~$100 for gas AND the room.
If I do end up going, would you/your dad be willing to allow me to tent it up next to you guys and use your shower for a little fee?

Jana 01-04-2004 09:51 PM

I believe you use the public showers they have at the track when you camp out there...... :D

jpape 01-19-2004 01:07 PM

Is it ok for newbs to come. I mean ill be around here for quite a while before the shootout it sounds like alot of fun. Iam only 16 if thats a problem and i would most likely bring two guys with that are 19-20 yrs old with a Celica and a Probe. I probally woldnt race though due to my car being stock. Ill ahve it though just incase theres some other stock cars around or jsut some civics haha

Goat Blower 01-19-2004 01:12 PM

Sure, everybody's welcome. There's not really any Civics around though, just a lot of fast DSM's. There will probably be a few caravans going from Minneapolis, so you'll have some company.

jpape 01-19-2004 01:24 PM

Alright Thanks, When the time comes closer I may have to talk to someone about local hotels so I dont get stuck 10 miles away from everyone

CVD 01-19-2004 01:32 PM

You dont want to wait, trust me.

yea, alot of them are already booked but usually last minute people find some rooms cause there's cancellations.

fmicmatt 01-19-2004 03:12 PM

What nights are you guys staying? I reserved a room at the Best Western for fri and sat. Maybe I should get sunday as well. What do you guys think...... or is there a convoy planned yet??

We always leave Thursday morning and return Monday morning, so we are there 4 nights. At least that's what has gone on the last 2 years.

Oh, and jpape, you definately don't want to wait because those hotels book up fast. As soon as the dates are released they get booked.

jimwross 01-20-2004 08:02 PM

I'd love to go but it all depends on where I'm working this summer... what are the options for hotels / surrounding areas if you book late :-(?

Not much. There are hotels in surrounding towns I believe. I would look into your options now. Heck, you could even make reservations and then if you can't make it just remember to cancel. You can cancel up to 24 hours prior to your reservation and not be charged I believe. But I'm sure you'll know before then.

jimwross 01-20-2004 10:14 PM

So I get the feeling BW is the place to be?

James

AJ 01-20-2004 10:45 PM

Most of us will be there. And if the scene at the hotels are better they are within walking distance. Some people are crashing at the track as well.

jpape 01-28-2004 09:56 PM

Anyone have a hotel room thats empy and wanna get rid of???

jpape 01-28-2004 10:21 PM

Which Best Western?

Theres a Link I found to best westerns..wat one is it?

AJ 01-28-2004 11:55 PM

the Links dont work for me, but tyhe hotel is in Norwalk.

SlowWhite 01-29-2004 08:00 AM

Yeah I can't wait to RV it, I have heard that it gets pretty crazy at night around there. And plus for the race days you can watch when you want and then go and chill in your camper whenever you feel like it. The hotel was cool last year but the cops were too paranoid about everything and made it so you had to sneak around to drink and shit. But not everybody was there to party......

jpape 01-29-2004 02:41 PM

How far is the drive for you guys that live by the cities to Norwalk its like 380 for me from Ivanhoe

TheBlizzard 01-29-2004 02:57 PM

Ha ha ha....I wish. I can't remember totally but I know it was like 12 hours to get there from the Champs in Woodbury wasn't it? That was not straight driving, but pretty close we didn't stop to many times.

CRAIG

JET 01-30-2004 12:02 AM

I think it was 11 hours if we went straight thru, so prolly like 700 miles for us.

Yeah you know that never happens though. We stopped tons of times last year. Hopefully it will be cooler this year since it is a little later in the year, fuck was it hot last year on the way down there.

It was pretty cool-weather wise compared to the year before when it was 90 every single day.

I can't wait.... the parking lots full of swapping turbos, trannys, and all the teamwork of figuring out what blew up.

TheBlizzard 01-30-2004 01:28 PM

Wasn't it like 95 degrees from Chicago on? I thought in traffic Matt J. and I were seeing almost 100 degree temps on the highway. Hopefully it won't be anybody from out group broke down this year. Last year went pretty good except for a coupld of mishaps.

I still can't believe that JET drove his car all the way there, ran it all three days, had to be 40+ runs and then drove it home with almost no problems. Plus raced a Taurus SHO in some shit town that I could never get back to if I tried and it still made it. Plus it was crankwalked to hell the whole time. Funny shit.

Evertime I look at this thread it gives me the ich for spring/summer to get here. :headache:

Lotsa people have room. I have like... 4 in my room (me, CVD, hughes, Joe(gixxer), um..... kevin?(santa)) w/ 2 beds right now, but all I know is I call bed since I booked it. Whoever else want floor room is more than welcome to split the bill as there is plenty of that for chump change. :jammin:

TheBlizzard 01-30-2004 03:23 PM

Hey Curtis give me a call. JET and I might have room for you in the RV. We are staying at the track. Should be a good time. Let me know before somebody else takes that spot if they haven't already.

JustROLLIN 02-26-2004 02:26 PM

It was wicked hot last year!! The temp was reading just shy of 100 when we made that stop outside of Chi town. I should know, JDM and I were in my Talon with NO ac the whole ride there. Yeah, raining with the windows up, with no AC, no thanks!

Plus, we hit almost 120 degree track temps last year. I clearly remember hearing 116 degree track temp. Wait, who am I kidding, I was too drunk to remember anything about the trip except for the fact that it was fun.

Last year wasn't that hot. The year before was about 20 degrees hotter. Last year was all sorts of 70s  hopefully this year will be 50-60 :)

Shane@DBPerformance 02-26-2004 05:46 PM

It's not going to be 50 in Ohio in August. Maybe in December.

Are you nuts man? The temp was almost a 100 on the way down and like 90+ on both Sat. and Sun. Does anyone else remember this or is it just me?

You're nuts ;) I remember we looked at weather.com the day before going and saying how nice of weather it was going to be compared to the year before with it being mid 70s all weekend.

JET 02-29-2004 11:10 AM

I know it was way hotter than 70 degrees. I know it was 96 degrees when we went through Chicago, right Nash? You don't remember sweating your ass off??

Shane@DBPerformance 02-29-2004 12:30 PM

I don't remember it being that hot last year compared to previous years. I don't remember dieing in the bleachers like in previous years. I remember a cool morning the day of the Shootout. I don't remember sweating too bad changing the clutch in the parking lot. I remember freezing my ass off laying in an inch deep puddle of water as it rained a torrential downpour as I tried to unhook the driveshafts for towing. :)

I remember driving through Chicago both 2 years and 3 years ago and it felt like it was 110 and then breezing through last year without too many delays and heat, but maybe we hit it on different days.

I can recall looking at the bank temp and it reading almost 100 when we stopped outside of Chi town.

Goat Blower 03-05-2004 11:24 AM

All three years I've been there, it was hot as hell. The last time I drove my car, my feet were sweating the whole way. One more reason to ride the trailer this year. ;) Although being a month later, I'm hoping for low 70's, which would make for some records being broken I'm sure. Shep will be in the 7's by then. :3gears:

JDM 03-29-2004 02:30 AM

Way fuckin hotter than you guys give credit. I'd venture to say that it was between 85-90 during peak heat hours, and around 75-80 the majority of the rest of the day. That's air temps. I do recall hearing about INSANE track temps, and how I spent 50 bucks on keyboard cleaner for Joey's Intercooler.

It was fuckin' hot. :razz2:

And yes Joe, you were too drunk.

spounge.

AJ 06-24-2004 10:01 AM
