In my DSM, Down shift to second instead of third.

In outher cars. The dumbest thing I ever did to a car was, take a vice-grip to the rear brake line and crimp them off, and remove the rear brakes on a Tempo, that I couldn’t afford to fix.
And put "Great stuff" expanding foam in a rust hole, and paint it.

BoostedGSX 12-07-2004 07:18 PM

Great Stuff is the shyt! The dumbest thing I have ever done, hasnt happened yet. It will be to drive the gsx as a daily driver. Today, I was under it, dropping the exhaust, and I saw all the back end was rusted. Not rusted THROUGH, but noticable surface. Damn car came from CT. So, when the tranny is done, and the body is done, I will take it to a lift, and blast all the rust I can, get some rust inhibitor stuff, coat the underside with that, then some under coat stuff, like bed liner. Hopefully it will help the car out. Driving it like it is, would be DUMB, lol. (Oh, and I let a friend ride my chopper, and he laid it down)

Install a stereo system in my old Grand Am worth more than the car then make a spur-of-the-moment decision to sell it for a huge loss.

Fried my clutch at RF last spring and wasting too much money on crap parts...like Punishment Racings 2.5" Pressbent DP. Cheap in price and quality..haha.

I backed up into those concrete blocks that hold up light poles in parking lots...haha.

I learned that one the hard way too... RS Motors is now out of business... All the guys should be gone soon... Propulshun should be hiring NEW guys who know what they're doing, I've met a few of em'... I guess time will tell

Oh god, even worse. I would trust Ron over them. It's not like there are really that many guys out there locally who know a lot about modding different kinds of cars. The most knowledgable Honda guys out there locally have their own things going. Did Propulshun get the dyno?

JDM 12-08-2004 12:02 AM

Nope. They're buying a newer, nicer one. AWD. Ron is gone, and so are the rollers.

They're hiring some outside help from has been shops...

Pimpin Dsmstyle 12-08-2004 12:23 AM

I put a body kit on my 1.8 sohc 92 1g eclipse. Left it unpainted. I also bought 15 inch ADR rims and put low pro tires on. Can you say good bye to 1500 bux? I coulda bought 3 part cars with that dude.

Ron took it with him? Wonder if it's for sale.

Emcee gsxtc 12-08-2004 12:40 AM

I bought an 88 civic hatchback,

I bought a 95 looks like a 98 mits eclipse GSX,

I bought a 91 Pontiac Sunbird,

I bought a 90 mits eclipse GSX,

and broke them all and many others.

------------------------------------

I knew about QPR but tried to fix my own car myself.

I didn't whip out the biggest credit card I could find it and give it to QPR.

------------------------------------

I raced people for no reason at all in above cars at stupid times and in minivans owned by my parents.

------------------------------------

I still believe I can own a car that won't break.

Emcee gsxtc 12-08-2004 12:41 AM

Oh, and the not stupid thing was bought a nice 4 dr car (Audi A4) that i still broke, but HAS A WARRANTY!

Sticky Rice 12-08-2004 07:24 AM

putting money into it!...

Shane@DBPerformance 12-08-2004 01:24 PM

Are you sure about RS Motors being gone? I called them today and they were still there and said they had an AWD dyno.

Ya don't worry you'll never catch up to me.... your not even 1/2 way to what I've spent.

MATCHBX 12-08-2004 08:45 PM

I did something like what Raptor did. In high school, the fuse popped for the brake lights on my 73 Valiant. Being the cheap ass that I was, I wrapped the fuse in tinfoil instead of spending the $1 to buy new ones. It held for quite a while until I was a block away from home and I got smoked out of the car. The headlights dimmed, smoke started rolling out from under the dash and I could see 3 wires glowing red thru the thick smoke. I spent about 7 hours or so the next day rewiring almost the entire car all the way back to the brake lights. DOHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alpine TSi 12-08-2004 08:55 PM

I wanted a loud ricey muffler for my Neon(yes I said Neon) back in the day, but I couldn't afford it. So I took my drill and a big UniBit and drilled four holes into the muffler to make it loud.

I heard the same info from another source other than the members of the site today. I am sure it is probably something that is in process but maybe not complete. Ron is probably grabbing every last job he can before he leaves

Shane@DBPerformance 12-08-2004 09:29 PM

I talked to Ron today and he said they were still in business. On MNSC people were saying that Propulshun was out of business now also and that the store looked closed. Ron said they were just remodeling. Who knows, there are always so many rumors about shop. Back when when John Haley first opened, there was a new rumor about Elite closing or shut down already or being a chop shop every other week.

1slowdsm 12-08-2004 09:30 PM

Is it the same Dyno they've had throught half the summer? I wanted to go Dyno my car there, but I wouldnt dare let those guys touch my car ever again...especially on a dyno..

Raptor 12-08-2004 09:37 PM

Yea, rumors are too common. The information I got today came from a source I would expect had a little bit of inside info, but who knows, maybe it is just a product of the rumor mill. Wouldn't have effected us anyway, they do such a different group of cars than we deal with. We always send people with Honduhs etc to you guys (Elite) We pretty much are trying to stay specialized to Mitsu based cars and a select few others provided they are boosted in one form or another. Basically avoiding the whole "tuner" market as it seems to promote a type of car we don't have the same appreciation for as others do.

INTRIGUED 12-08-2004 11:22 PM

Stuipidest thing I have ever done was by accident. Driving down a road I never been on looking for the road back on to the freeway. Looking to the right side going 30-35 mph. Look forward for just enough time to see a small ramp out of dirt and the.. end of the road... Yeah I flew about 15 feet in the air and slammed into the ground. Little Dukes of Hazzard action there. Thought my car was done for, Got out checked out the damage. Nothing but a head light pointing straight down. Then drove the 30 miles back home with my fingers crossed hoping that nothing major was damaged. Damn those back roads!

sleepydsm 12-09-2004 12:07 AM

AWD lawn jobs, off roading, rallying, literal hill climbs, jumping, mudding, the usual awd dsm fun

Yikes Adam. LOL

Super Bleeder!! 12-09-2004 09:56 PM

if i typed it all up, it would be a novel to rival War & Peace in thickness, mostly due to my college student cheapness. but including everything i've ever done to the car including purchase price i've only got 3600 into it.
