Not that I think the potential in either platform is better/worse, just that the 2g still has some decent cash value.

LightningGSX 10-26-2004 09:59 PM

???? 1gs are worth next to nothing, so I'd wreck one of those before a 98 GSX

Jana 10-26-2004 10:07 PM

A 98 is also worth next to nothing..... ;)

LightningGSX 10-26-2004 10:09 PM

The bank let me use mine as collateral for a $10000 loan, so it must be worth something.

Raptor 10-26-2004 10:11 PM

Value is one of those things that is pretty much opinion based. I wouldn't take a $12K 2G over a $2K 1G if I was forced to keep it and thats if you gave it to me.

Either way, build whatever you want and bring it, I will be ready for you! Don't forget some cash.

1ViciousGSX 10-26-2004 10:11 PM

I'd say Raptor's 1g might have a scrap metal cash value; oh wait there's not much metal left. Oh well, there goes that idea.

LightningGSX 10-26-2004 10:12 PM

So basically this is turning out to be a Raptor against the world type thing?

Sounds like the usual thing to me.

MATCHBX 10-26-2004 10:21 PM

I would join in this but you guys are too scared of getting your 2g's dirty at the tracks I run.

slowbubblecar 10-26-2004 10:36 PM

anybody think mikes car will even run by the end of next year? I don't.

Well I sure will be quicker but not even close to what you might be at or what others are at now... So I challenge you to a 14 second race! If you breakout I win hahah
I'm with EclipseTurbo on this one. My only chances of winning is if you guys break out or if your cars break half way through the race...haha.

You run on the dirt track because your car doesn't have enough power to get you down the 1/4 mile track in a decent time.

What dirt track do you think I'm talking about?

And no, it's not a power thing. I did the 1/4 mile thing years ago. I just like to turn. And dirt makes it even more interesting. Not to mention, it's a stepping stone to the racing I REALLY want to do.

A//// Guy 10-26-2004 11:10 PM

Yea its basically bigger the better... so Mike will win IF he gets his car rolling and I dont think it can be done over the winter. If it can sweet ass and I want a ride!

But.... its all talk for now. Heck I didnt even get to the track once last year and Im not that big on going next year. Just want a fun car to tool around in on the streets. Although I will try and fix my slow record so well see what I put down..

Raptor 10-26-2004 11:10 PM

Bunch of funny guys you are. We shall see who has the last laugh :bounce: The things you don't know about are going to bite ya!

Come on now, beating some fairly stock bodied 4g63 powered DSMs with a 6g72 powered tube chassis "DSM" isn't exactly a magical task.

A//// Guy 10-26-2004 11:18 PM

Im not laughing now.... so you can have your last laugh because I know you will make serious power.

Doesn't really matter as long as I get to the end of the track first. I don't care about the people who call it cheating. Seriously, I don't do this for just the love of DSM's, I love to drive fast, and even more, I love to win so whatever it takes to acomplish both, thats what I will do. Spraying all the way if necessary!

unreal808 10-26-2004 11:42 PM

Who said it's gonna beat these stock bodied 1g's ;)

Raptor 10-27-2004 12:01 AM

We shall see!

LightningGSX 10-27-2004 12:02 AM

Yeah I could go beat up a 10 year old, sure I'd win, but I wouldn't feel good about it.Like I was saying, beating a stock modified DSM with a purpose built drag "DSM" isn't a big achievment, and doesn't say much about the ability or ingenuity of the builder/driver/tuner.I'd feel better racing a similar setup, where it would come down to the ability and competitiveness of the builder/tuner/driver.

Hahahaha thats funny, you act like I am building my car to race slow ass 2G's. I am aiming for much quicker cars than that. I am pretty sure at this "event" you won't be lining up against me, it would be a waste of rubber. I expect to be running the quicker guys from the other shops where there would be some competition.

You can try your best to take down Peter (you will lose). Or maybe Swanny can save the tempo for you to runhttp://209.173.220.82/ani/ChairShot.gif

Emcee gsxtc 10-27-2004 12:19 AM

I would love to just run my 2g or at the least 1 of my dsms, and post better than a 14. That would be a great accomplishment.

john 10-27-2004 12:20 AM

Uhhh.... I am not going to read all of the previous posts but if I still have my car, I am in for bitchslapping a lighningbolted car.

LightningGSX 10-27-2004 12:22 AM

Cool, you guys give me a goal(and a reason not to quit my job).I assume you guys are down for some large side bets then?

Alpine TSi 10-27-2004 12:23 AM

I'm down if the motor gets itself back in my beast...

AJ 10-27-2004 12:28 AM

Your all full of shit. The 1.8 would kill all of you, but I have no intrest in wasting the gas to prove it so I will bow out and probably have the truck hooked up to a trailor waiting for the only garunty of this event.

LightningGSX 10-27-2004 12:32 AM

Lets get a date set up and some $$$ amounts.I don't want to hear you guys crying because your POS broke down or it isn't ready. If your shit is broke or not done, you forfeit and loose your money.

If a ten year old was looking for a fight with a older kid, and got beat down, than he asks for it. don't bring a knive to gun fight, and don't write checks you ass can't cash. winning is winning, run what ya brung or go home. 1G all the way by the way :dsmrule:

Raptor 10-27-2004 12:35 AM

Thats the only way you would win Eric.

I don't expect to be done till June, set it for later in the year and I will be down for it. You can save your money till then, I will be happy to take it from you.

You sure talk alot of shit for having a 16 second (at best) 2g.
All that work at JHM really got ya thinking doesn't it?
:stick:
That being said, I like the idea of a dsmstyle 'shootout'.
Make a few classes, maybe 1g, 2g, and 'outlaw' so the racing is fair, maybe do a shop vs. shop thing.
Maybe we should set a date for mid/late summer, would before the shootout or after the shootout be better?

Raptor 10-27-2004 12:40 AM

Thats what your hoping. I mean next June, the project is in motion and the parts are being made, I will be ready. I will be happy to take a donation from you if you feel the need, but no backing out at the end when you are obviously going to be destroyed. If you are in now, you are in then.

I've actually been thinking about this for quite a long time, I just couldn't afford to put any money into my cars.

BTW my 16 sec 2g still beats your engineless tank though
