Re: Project DSM-NonGM
Not really any crazy updates, my friend does some powder coating out of his garage and he hooked me up on my valve cover. I picked something I was hoping would match my other blue stuff at least close.. But looks like ill be powder coating intercooler pipes next.

Re: Project DSM-NonGM
Looks good! Do intercooler pipes and intake the same color and get black couplers. That'd look saweet!
|
Re: Project DSM-NonGM
Agreed with black couplers.

The only "issue" was when I was hammering down with my 1100 ft-lb of nut busting torque beast of a impact, the paint chipped where the bolt met the paint. Other than that, I should take a picture of the knuckles now to see how well they have held up thus far. You know, with all my "off-roading" I do now(I've only gone hunting once, aka drove down a dirt road LOL) |
Re: Project DSM-NonGM
I guess I'll just make another post but this is how the powder coat has been holding up. It was laid on super thick. The chip shown is probably me at full crank and the knuckle hitting the lower A arm.
Otherwise, the quality is still awesome. http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...601_195601.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...601_195608.jpg |

Re: Project DSM-NonGM
Nothing like some last minute problems the night before your car is due to get picked up and delivered to DB. I topped off the tank on monday only to realize that gas was pouring out of the sending unit. I called Napa first to see if they could get me a gasket but it was a week out and an extra $100.00 to overnight a $5.00 part... no. Surprisingly mitsubishi had one in stock and they delivered out to my shop yesterday! Last night I pulled out the sending unit without breaking any of those shitty gas tank studs thankfully and swapped it out. It looks like whoever put the last one in didnt pull one of those rubber fingers all the way through the sending unit top so it folded over itself. http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...613_183231.jpg
Car is good to go and is set for the tow this morning. |

Re: Project DSM-NonGM
350 whp will be a fun car. I remember my old talon was pretty fun with that kind of power but it had a lag scm61 on it. Hope Shane can get that thing tuned tip top. You will have to go out some night and beat up on some hondas.

Re: Project DSM-NonGM
Nice man, can't wait to see you enjoying this thing.

Re: Project DSM-NonGM
Any update from DB?

Re: Project DSM-NonGM
Goes on the dyno monday morning. I brought it up early so that they could install the wideband. I dont have a means for welding stainless so it's just easier to let them do it at this point.

Re: Project DSM-NonGM
Hahahahaha iam always down for a street race. I would love to see how the vette stacks up against your car. Iam sure if you make 400 it will be a easy win for you. But if yoyr making 350 ish that would be a fun race.

Re: Project DSM-NonGM
yeah for sure! Thats what it's all about. Just something to have some fun with.

Re: Project DSM-NonGM
Well have not updated in awhile, the car successfully made it on the dyno and off for that matter. The hp numbers were a bit disappointing though, we ran into a few issues. The bov was an issue and we thought may have been leaking at higher boost. At first it was only seeing about 17ish so we decided to crush the top in and we ended up maxing out around 19( was looking for higher 20's but stupid me should have replaced the bov ). Also had a few other issues that went unnoticed until i made it home. it has some kind of brace between the alternator and the motor mount that loosened up im guessing on the dyno and shredded the belt by the time I made it home which probably didnt have anything to do with the numbers but was an issue none the less. Glad i made it home in time. Once i pulled it into the garage i noticed axle grease all over the LF wheel. So new axle and belt replaced. Also swapped out the rack for a reman since the boots were torn and it was leaking anyway.
The car ended up making 264/242 and 302 in shootout. ( the numbers may be a few off as Im thinking off the top of my head). Its still quick and has been fun to drive but I still am gunning for the goal of 400 and already know what ill be replacing for next year. E85 will be a must and then im going to swap out the intake manifold as well and with a new bov and shoot for more boost. Ran into a new issue recently lol (seems never ending, but i assumed as much so whatever). The transfer case is leaking pretty bad. Swapped out the rear output shaft seal but its still leaking. Learned about the yoke being an issue so I ordered the revised yoke kit from extreme and am just waiting to put it in. Hopefully back to enjoying within a week here. |
Re: Project DSM-NonGM
Sorry to hear of the troubles Matt. Looking forward to it all coming together though!

Re: Project DSM-NonGM
Nothing new here, but was able to get the car kinda detailed and ready to be put away in the next few weeks.

So clean! Need to see it in person sometime before she goes to sleep.

Re: Project DSM-NonGM
Was talking with a buddy the other day who happens to have Peters old dsm, he is looking to start getting rid of his car and stuff. I am going to try and pick up his built motor he has on an engine stand for hopefully a good price. So that may be next years plans with e85 and probably going to switch to speed density.

Re: Project DSM-NonGM
Figured I would just use my own thread vs starting a new one. But here is a few pictures from my dad's project so far. It is a FFR Daytona Coupe. It will be using a 5.0 from a 2013 or 2014 Mustang mated with a Tremec TKO600
