Yeah, I'd say get the porting as well. I always did mine myself, so I don't even remember not having it on any turbo.

I think you'll be real happy with the Green. I drove mine to work today and it feels absolutely awesome, and I haven't even gotten into any boost yet.

I haven't cared about drag racing in years, I'm doing some road course stuff now as time allows, which isn't much.

Does your car run yet?

Re: Fp green or red

Yes it does, want to try your luck? Bring cash and oil because you will need a refill after you drive anywhere.

You can't get off that, can you? Meanwhile, year after year I drive my car to work all summer while year after year your car sits on jack stands. Maybe triple pumps will get your car going again? And why are you posting in this thread? You've never had either of these turbos.

I am going to bump this to the top. After a long 4 hour discussion with a friend. I am considering getting an hx35. So would like to buy one if someone has one. Preferably freshly rebuilt. Ready to bolt up with a bep housing. But will listen to anything that is available, again looking to buy ASAP. Please let me know if you have something

Re: Fp green or red

my vote is bw s256. such a bad ass turbo for that range of power

Tyler, that was the friend I had the 4 hour convo with ha trying to make sure I can't find another before I buy his.
Nick, I am pretty set on either fp or holset, thank though for the other option

From the title of the thread I thought you were focused solely on those FP turbos. If you're thinking outside the box, then add another vote for an S256. Potent, BW reliability, and very affordable.

You'd have to probably call them or Bullseye about a bolt on housing.

Agree with Halon.
Holset's are good because they are cheap and durable.

Re: Fp green or red

Nice talking to you yesterday Jeremy. I hate to steer you away from FP since they are such a great company that has done amazing things for the DSM community but it's hard to pass up the price and reliability of an HX35. In terms of spool and airflow, there is not much of anything in the HX35's price category that can compete.

Let me start off by saying that the HX35 is extremely EFFICIENT. The 7 blade HX35 is good for ~60lb/min. Although, we have to consider that you want to run the BEP housing which does choke the 7 blade variant a bit. With the BEP .55ar you'd be looking at ~54lb/min, exactly that of an hta green, for roughly half of the price.

The selling point for me when looking at Holsets is their reliability. These things come off of trucks running ridiculously high boost, that get beat on daily, and they are still spooling like new after 400k+ miles of abuse. Oil them properly and they'll reward you with reliability unlike any other brand at that performance level.

Re: Fp green or red

Holset is the ultimate DSM brand as far as turbos go. Cheap, reliable and proven. My truck is pushing 260,000 miles and the turbo on it is perfectly good. It is actually the exact same turbo going on my Talon. HX35W
