Re: head fused to the block ?
This thread is making me pound my fucking head on a wall.

Re: head fused to the block ?
Buy a different engine?
|
Re: head fused to the block ?
If they're the reverse bolting nuts, you probably have to double stud it and hammer it out in an opposite forward direction.
|
Re: head fused to the block ?
The washers should come out with a needle nose pliers thats how i pull mine out after that the head ahould just pull up even if the studs are in
they would have to be bent or the head has to be hella warped or stuck on the dowl things |
Re: head fused to the block ?
Take a sawzall and cut between the head and block haha!
|
Re: head fused to the block ?
Give some heat by the dowel pin. That will help loosen up the corrosion if any.
|
Re: head fused to the block ?
I'm pretty sure he had his head off this summer so corrosion shouldn't be an issue. I would get all the head studs out first to make sure those are causing/adding to the problem
|
Re: head fused to the block ?
hook an engine hoist to the head and pull that motha off. how hard can it be.
or ask cornfed for that bfh. |
Re: head fused to the block ?
Take a torchto it and head up the all around the block a little cool it down rinse and repeat shock it a little bit, and wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah...worked for my head :) the wiggle part ha! You got this!
|
Re: head fused to the block ?
Probably not much point, if the engine got that hot it is junk anyway. How long did you wait to put coolant in it? If it wasn't 2+ hours then you cracked the block on it if it wasn't already cracked.

I just had this one rebuilt this summer. With 2.4 crank , eagle rods and cp pistons and head work :frown: I hopping to salvage as much as possible. In all honestly im thinking of using a engine life on it. If anyone is in the Zimmerman area and wants to give it a whack let me know :/ |

Re: head fused to the block ?
bummer man. yes we are teasing because it's not ours so naturally we don't care like its ours and we could blow it up no worries. but seriously I would try an engine hoist and big rubber mallet as u lift.

Re: head fused to the block ?
We got it off !
Head dosent look too bad. Alot of corrosion. Head has to be warped |
Re: head fused to the block ?
Well damage report? and how did you get her off?!
|
Re: head fused to the block ?
Got as many studs out as we could then pried like hell with a 3' pry bar, used the power steering bracket for leverage.
He's going to have to pull the motor now and hone the cylinders and re-ring it though, there was some surface rust on the cylinder walls from coolant getting in and sitting. |

Then used a 3 1/2 ft pry bar. Hammer and elbow grease. She finally lifted up. I have pics. But I dont know how to post them :/ Alot of corrosion! Definitely going to need to hone the block. Guessing the head is trash ? But didnt see anything melted. And the weird part is all the fire rings on the head gasket were intact ??? |
Re: head fused to the block ?
Definatly get your head checked for cracks!
|
Re: head fused to the block ?
I have a 1G head for sale in good condition. came off a good running motor. $140/obo.
|
Re: head fused to the block ?
is that head a virgin and strait^
|
Re: head fused to the block ?
any chance that the block is now warped to?
|
Re: head fused to the block ?
Well, the 3 remaining head studs that did not want to come out were VERY tough to turn with a vicegrips on them. I don't know if that means that the block could be warped and making the holes oval shaped or what?
