Yeah, I'll vouch for the Evo, that one I had was a real hoot, no need for a DSM with one of those. Now if I could just get my GSX to drive and handle like my Evo did.

Re: DD shopping. $15k,GO!

Maybe I'm the only one that wont hop on the evo bandwagon.

When I had my evo it made for an awesome daily, don't get me wrong but I wouldn't get another one as my only daily driver. I was always wanting to do little mods here and there and it was stressful if you wanted to do something on Sunday or a weekday night. You had to worry if you'd get it done it time to go to work the next morning as it was your only car. I don't think you'd be able to leave an evo alone either.

Plus you seem to pay evo tax on parts it seems just because it is an evo. If you wanted something that got good mileage an evo isn't good for that either.

They are a great car but I wouldn't want one to be my only daily. Keep the dsm and get something good on gas mileage if you wanted to go that route or if it were me and I had to do it over I'd get a more luxury cruiser over something more tuner again.

In the week or so of craziness I think that I've settled on a legacy GT.

Gonna drive a few in the next few days. I'm open to competitors of them though.

Re: DD shopping. $15k,GO!

Not a bad choice. I agree with Brad, I wouldn't want an Evo fora DD. But to each their own. Legacy GT would be sweet.

One evo for mod? One DD'ing evo?

This...that is the best solution, Mitsu for fun, something reliable/boring and comfy for DD...just my opinion.

As much fun as my evo was for DD'in it sucked for DD duty compared to normal cars, its just the fun factor made it worth it.

No one car is perfect at all things, all have their strengths and weaknesses.

If everything goes good this weekend we can definitely talk if your interested. I dont need or even want to sell the car. But id love to have no debt (loan student loans) anymore. And save up for another later on. Plus my gf deserves a ring.

Ew, no yellow.

I'm pretty settled on a nice comfy DD, and subaru legacy GT should do the trick.
The evo's we can all agree are not normal cars, and it's almost a guarantee they have all been raced quite a bit by the time they hit 100k+ miles.

I still hope to get one, but I'd really like to finish my DSM and just have a nice normal car. It's still turbo and AWD! :KANE:

Yea the Legacy GT seems like they'd make an awesome daily. There was a nice looking wagon on mnsc if you wouldn't mind a wagon. Don't think it was a legacy but awd turbo and wagon seems kind of nice to haul bigger shit around with

Agreed. Personally I don't think I could live with less than 4 cars. Each has specific function that the other would be dreadful at.

Daily driver, tow vehicle, race car(need 1 or 2 of these), backup car

Yeah, I've got the tow rig/daily driver, but I could really use a second sports car. Something with a V8 and that's actually worth something in great shape.

Had a chance to drive this one. (we had a customer who wanted it, and Luther allowed us to borrow it). Pretty fun car. It's like 8k off original sale price.

Made a down payment on a 2010 jetta TDI blk on blk with 40k miles, waiting to see one more on monday for the same price so we will see what happens.

I drove it and loved it, felt so tight nimble and very comfy on the shitty roads of STC, nice to have power everything still and heated seats, just tinted windows and remote start away from being perfect.

Re: DD shopping. $15k,GO!

Well it seems like any and every mechanic on a forum says to not touch a TDi so I will not be purchasing a tdi. I do not want any headaches with anything I buy and if that many people are saying to runaway it might be a wise choice.

I'm going to go back to basics and drive everything I want to, then make my decision from there.

I want a 4dr that will fit 4 adults in it, manual transmission and around the 12-14k range. I want something that I can just drive and not worry about and hopefully be enjoyable to drive.

List of cars include: 2005+ Legacy GT, 06+ G35x ('07 is preferred a lot nicer interior), TL, not sure what else after that.

G35x seems like a nice car, and you get AWD for winter.

After having my evo for two winters then going to a POS honda for 2 winters and now back to AWD with my suzuki...I can say this, I will never drive anything but AWD in the winter if I can help it.

it's not that you can't get around in FWD or even RWD, but it makes life a lot easier and safer.

I know it's not a 4-door, but i've been looking at the infiniti G37x, AWD coupe.

turbotalon1g 02-18-2013 11:18 AM

Re: DD shopping. $15k,GO!

G37x is out of the budget, I kinda lost my mind looking at those TDi's.

Its like everything you look at has issues, but if you spend a bit more then you are in the clear. LIke with Legacy GT's apparently those 5 spds are junk basically and everyone spends $1k plus doing a 6 spd swap and all this shit. - I don't want this.

Re: DD shopping. $15k,GO!

If you want a car that needs work/mods, get an Evo, if you want a car that doesn't require anything special just get a plain Jane basic car. You're looking in that middle ground which tends to be a problem for us modders/tweakers...

I don't even want to change the oil on my daily. What's wrong with having your Talon as your fun car and a TDI, which you never even pop the hood on?

This, but I'll def change the oil myself--it's almost easier than dealing with taking it elsewhere. Man I'd love a second car as a DD :)

i wanna say most vw and audi guys mostly get all their stuff done at a shop and most dont know how to even work on a car. Not saying all just most so i think thats why you got the responses you did. Just food for thought maybe.
