Like a tire valve stems? The last boost leak tester I made I used a swivel fitting and made it seem a little better.

Nate knows whats up:drive:

I'm looking at getting some new wheels/tires soon. I'm leaning towards some black rpf1's like everybody has because they are light and cheap.
http://www.oakos.com/Merchant2/graph...01/RPF1BLK.jpg
Or I was thinking maybe gunmetal or hyper black rota torques. I'd love a set of work's but I'm far too cheap to spend that kind of money on wheels

Thoughts/input appreciated!

I'll have to try that if I make another one. I might be down, I have to put some insurance on it though. Hit me up before you go out though!

Same kind of crap, but I think it was from the fire wall padding. At least I know how to take a blower motor out quickly now. I test drove a few 2g's that had that same noise so it's nice to know what the problem is and its an easy fix as long as you have a guy like Nick around to hook up dsm guys on shell parts :D

What size tires do you have on it? I'm going to test fit a set of rpf1's tomorrow that are 17x8 +35. I remember your rims looking really nice on your car. Any issues with rubbing? I think I read somewhere that you said they stick out a bit?

Re: Brad's 5th DSM...

No rubbing but they are flush. 235/45r17

Did you look at the Konig feathers or konig daylites?

Shane@DBPerformance 03-08-2012 10:41 PM

Re: Brad's 5th DSM...

It put down 263awhp at 22.5 psi when it came in. I don't think another 3.5psi would put it up to 409awhp. So take internet dyno number claims with a grain of salt. Maybe some E85 next week to see if it can get over 350.

LOL @ #'s

Maybe they need to re-calibrate their dyno, if that's possible?

Re: Brad's 5th DSM...

Big thanks to Shane for looking over the tune and fitting it on the dyno! Came in knocking and left up almost 30awhp and no knock.

And because everybody likes pictures, here is the wack dyno run and some other randoms

Plan on putting corn in it this weekend and head back for an e70 tune next week:spin:

Also going to be keeping my eye out for an aftermarket intake manifold, fp exhaust manifold, some sort of 02 housing with an external wastegate setup and maybe a set of different cams if I find a really good deal on a used set. So much for leaving this thing alone... Still pulls way harder than the s2k even did :D

Thanks for the info on the wheels Chris. That's the exact same offset tire setup I'm looking at tomorrow. Glad to hear it'll fit.

I did look at the feathers and just looked at daylites and I'm not 100% sure I like the look of them. Plus the rpf1's I'm looking at tomorrow are a pretty good deal.

I took a different job that required driving around the cities and I wanted one car with AC, so I sold it and got an evo. About 6 cars late I'm back into a black 2g :D

Haha yea numbers weren't close to what the guy claimed but they seem about on par for a dsm on pump gas with these mods. I'm not sure if he was claiming these numbers after some crazy correction factor or if he just made it up or what was up. Oh well, hopefully it'll hit 400 or very close to it before the summer is over.

Thanks! I really miss the evo but I do not miss a car payment. Also insurance is so much cheaper on this car and dsm parts are so much cheaper than evo stuff.

Ugh, 400whp dyno dynamics...I'm sorry man....my X was listed as '450hp' on autotrader when I got it....stock + catback + mbc :) pretty sweet!

That being said the car looks fantastic and nearly 300whp is def in the 'fun zone' that's for sure! Enjoy it sir!

Re: Brad's 5th DSM...

I bet it made like 460 with those kind of mods?!? :drive1:

Thanks for the kind words Chris!

Anybody have hook ups on Tactrix cables or know a good place to find a deal on a used one besides evom?

Re: Brad's 5th DSM...

how is it only making that much power? Is it healthy? Compression checked? Or maybe that is expected power... I could be way off.

C3L1CA 03-09-2012 08:26 PM

Re: Brad's 5th DSM...

I don't know, Shane said it seems about average for the mods it. I haven't done a compression test on it but it seems healthy.

E85 and more boost should help wake it up

Haha thanks! Half the fun is looking for new cars and trying to find deals and talking people down. I still have to see that evo of yours one of these dasy.

Just figured out I saved almost 20lbs of rotating mass today by picking up the rpf1's vs the evo8 wheels :D Also ordered a tactrix 2.0 cable and made an appointment to get my crappy tint taken off and have it re-tinted.

Going to try and wash it tomorrow and put e85 in it tomorrow if my computer would stop being stupid with evoscan. It says it connects then stalls out everytime.

Re: Brad's 5th DSM...

Is this what people are talking about when they say they put a 6 bolt in a 2g??

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...A/8852ad94.jpg

But really, I picked up a 6 bolt block/head for a good deal today and already pulled the pan and crank/block look good. Plan at the moment for this motor is to just throw some eagle rods and whatever pistons I can get a good deal on in it. Then have the head looked at it and fix anything that might be needed

Also bought some silver rpf1's on craigslist last week as well. I kind of like the silver but can't decide if I should paint them black. What do you guys think?

silver, black on black is so overplayed and everyone has black wheels.

Re: Brad's 5th DSM...

not gunna lie i liked the old rims man

C3L1CA 03-19-2012 02:53 PM

Re: Brad's 5th DSM...

Maybe I can have Powder Keg do a rainbow theme...

I like the silver too, but I think a gunmetal/black would look kind of cool as well. Evo8 wheels looked nice but one tire was newer than the other three and these were a basicly brand new wheel/tire setup for the price just the wheels cost without shipping. Plus I saved almost 20lbs of rotational mass :)
