It isn't like you see a 1g with this set-up running around on a daily basis or anything. And, there are still plenty of clean 1gs scooting about that aren't laying down huge power... :) |
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Thought I'd comment,
B.e.a.utiful car brotha, GoodLuck on obtaining 800HP, that would be a fun ass car to drive! |
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Thank you, I will keep you all updated through the process.
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Looks like a simular setup. I love the way top mount manifolds look. Kick ass clutch & transmission, holy shit 14 grand is no joke!
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Thanks mark actually the cost for clutch and transmission is $11700 another $1800 for transfer case
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
How much was the carbon/carbon clutch? It's a nice piece!
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
about $5500
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Wow, I wish I had money like this. Awesome build so far.
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
That's some serious $$$. Wow. I would love to see how a carbon clutch launches. I cannot control my quarter master slippage consistently, resulting in broken shit.
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
$5500 for a clutch thats just sick! Im sure its probably worth it though.

Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Quick update...I'm sending out some parts to get powder coated this weekend. Going to get the thermostat housing, cas and maybe the front control arms done.

Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"

Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Brakeman?
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
No lol, I can't see a reason to spend that kind of money on brakes. The only real advantage to me would be the weight savings, sure it would be nice but not that nice. I have I got 2 piston calipers with pads that have a really high bite at cold temps. Breaks don't get real hot in the short amount of time that you use them for during a drag race. I think I might end up with willwoods at some point but for now I am using stock calipers, stainless lines and axxis ultimate pads.
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
I thought for sure you were gonna have brakemans or one of the cheaper STM kits or TCE kits |
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Nah, I don't have an extra $1000 laying around right now. TCE will be what I go to if I change anything but I have always been impressed with the stock 2 piston calipers, even from 145 plus mph.
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Im sure alot of members can vouch for the stopping power of the 2 pisiton stock calipers. You could always pull the shoot if you cant stop. Assuming your gonna need one.
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Yeah but I just don't think I will have to, lots of time to slow down at the end of a run.
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Depends on the track I guess.. If it was at our rock falls track then you would have zero time to stop/slow down.
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
I really only run the car at NHRA certified tracks like Norwalk.
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Well thats good. We have brainerd for that.
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Cobra brakes :)
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Don't you need a 17 inch wheel for those?

Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Yeah, the big brakes are really needed more for repeated stops. Plus, even with stock pads, they were meant to haul down 3500 lbs of 2G plumpness, and no quick 1G weighs anywhere near that much. :D
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Looks like I need to upgrade my 1 pistons.
What pads/rotors are you using xtc? |
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Oem mitsu rotors not cheap advance auto ones. Mach V has a killer deal on them right now and I am trying the axxis ultimate pads.

Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Yep. I used to have the metal masters and I liked them so these should do well.
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Brakes are in, need to order lines now. Still waiting on fuel fittings ( starting to get pissed as I ordered them on feb 4th) Now I am looking for the best price on a set of hankook R-S3 tires in 225/50-16
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
For some reason TireRack has been the cheapest I've seen for RS3's of late.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....Z222&tab=Sizes $106 ea. + shipping |
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
Discount tire is actually cheaper $116 each, shipped.
|
Re: The car simply known as "The Talon"
