I had a thought, that if his family would be okay with it, if someone could take his car for a lap of the short track this weekend in his honor, provided we can find a way to get it up there and back.

Wow, this is very sad news. Michael was agreat member to this community, and he will greatly be missed! This type of loss makes you realize how short life can be!

Sad news. I didn't know Mike incredibly well, but what I did know of him he was a great guy. Just sad. RIP big guy.

I only talked to him a couple times, mostly over facebook. We should do something for him, he was/is a big part of the mitsu community. I would rock a sticker on my car for him.

Very, very sad news. When I got word over a txt I was in a state of shock for some time. From the few times I've met/ spoken with him, I could tell he was a great guy!! I will be donating as soon as possibly. I would totally rock a memeorial sticker for this man! Thoughts, and prayers go out to the family!

Wow, sad news. I also met Michael on the trip to MOD last fall that Curt had mentioned. He was a nice guy. RIP.

I never met the guy, but did follow his build threads. Times like this are difficult for familes, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends network.

Wow, honestly a bit shocked... Got a chance to meet him at a dyno day last year, seemed like a great guy, and was always down to help out people (from what I saw from others project threads).

Seems lately people pass when its least expected. I also had found out the other day the former owner of Mavericks in roseville (The brother of the current owner, who is a close family friend), passed in a car accident.

RIP big guy.

Guys, we need to memorialize this weekend at the MAP proving grounds in some way for Michael.. It would mean alot to his family. Any pictures you have please tag Michael in them on facebook so his family can capture them. Also prelim information on the funeral services are looking like Thursday in Hastings. When we know for sure Scheides will post the information as it becomes official.

Damn, I am in Nebraska this week for work through Thursday :( Won't be able to make this...hopefully a decent amount of styler's make it out though to show our support. Also perhaps we possibly buy a flower arrangement or something for him with some of our donations?

His family is trying to keep his car sort-of as his legacy, at least for now. We kicked around the idea of trying to get it up to BIR this weekend and parking it in a safe, central place as a weekend-long memorial for him. If anyone has an extra spot on a trailer or may somehow be able to help us accomplish this, please let me know. The family have a lot on their plate to deal with so the idea of them trying to get it up there is just completely out of the question--but if we can get the resources to make it easy for the family to let us do this then it may just happen.
