That's so vagina!!

Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Nice, Tq ftw.

Re: My 2005 CTS-V
<<<<< Jealous.
Screw you and your easy horsepower lol *kicks WRX |
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Badass man! Let us know how it feels once you get it patched up!
|
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Damn, that is some badass powah, nice!
|
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
I give up on fucking dsm's. The small shit you can do to that car, and it gains tons. And, you'll be able to drive it daily, beat the fucking shit outta it till it moans and bleeds, and it's still reliable. Lucky fucker. :)
|
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
And he'll get 13mpg while doing it. Always a downside, but I guess it's not that bad. Sweet numbers, I'd like a race.
|
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Holy fucking torque! That thing has to be just a beast at lower RPMs

Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Yea i was going to say, i only get like 15mpg's cause i always boost everywhere.
|
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
13mpg probably isn't beating on it for that car. I'd guess single digits for beating on it. But easy power is nice :).
BTW, I might have been in a cave, but what year is this car? |

Car is officially nasty! I need me a grandpa car. |
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
you better invest in lots of rear tires for that thing.
|
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Holy shit, that's awesome. I will also require a ride. Your 2g blew my mind when I got a ride in that, one of the fastest cars I was in.

Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Very impressive!!

Re: My 2005 CTS-V
I was getting 22-23 mpg on e85 on the highway going 65 the other day. After the overdrive pulley I was only seeing 19-20 mpg though.

Re: My 2005 CTS-V
lol @ terrible estimates on the lsx.
Congrats man, swifty he isn't lucky he is smart, going to more displacement is always the smart thing to do. So any kills? |

Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Got the car back last night with the new slave and Fidanza twin disk, the car drives amazingly well for a twin disk. Guess the large motor makes for easy engagement, I can just let out the clutch slowly and it accelerates almost like a stock clutch. Can't wait until break-in is done with and I can really put my foot into it.
The car feels a lot faster now, takes less throttle to accelerate, probably due to the loss of 45 lbs rotating mass from the heavy ass OEM flywheel. It also got rid of the rear diff clunking when I unload it at low speeds, and shuts off right away instead of dieseling for over a second and shaking the car. Should be good for almost another 30whp as well, a lot of guys are seeing approximately 6% gains just from reduced drivetrain loss. I'll know for sure at the next dyno day. |
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Nice man, I love this car, good to hear the clutch feels great.
|
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Nice!!! I want a ride in this thing!!! With me selling my dsm though, idk how many meets I'll be at :(
|
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
I want a ride in this sucker too....wait, who am I kidding, I wanna DRIVE this fucker!! lol
|
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
^This.

Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Hehe drove in it last night to uptown, got in it a little and its a beast! Do want V8.

None of those im thinking. They dont make enough power. haha
B7 S4's have the same exact body I do. |

Ls400 tt

Re: My 2005 CTS-V
I looked at a 2003 RS6 just a couple months before buying the V. With a chip and couple mods they make pretty good power. I think one was at 500whp and 520wtq at MAP's last dyno day. Too bad they require a tbelt job every 30k miles and are probably even less reliable than a CTS-V.

Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Did a couple quick WOT pulls on Friday afternoon, something feels weird above 4k rpms, so I let off without going to redline. Feels great under 4k, then it feels like it breaks up or something, and gets slower. So I'm going to take it back to Shane to do some street logging to check out what's happening.
Not sure if losing 45lbs off the flywheel changed the load on the engine enough to need some retuning. |
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Weird. This car is awesome though. How is this thing in snow? (just in general)
|
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
I have blizzaks for the winter, so it's not terrible, but it's not all that great either. Fortunately the traction control works alright, but I still have to be super gentle with the throttle in any amount of snow.
|
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Shane told you not to go WOT until you bring it back to him and do street tuning to finish up the final tune.
Hopefully its nothing huge. |
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Hopefully it's an easy fix! Car felt solid up to 4k though that's fo sho!
|
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Well, I've been gone for most of July so I never got a chance to diagnose the high load issue above 4k rpms. Took it to Shane last night for some street logging, and the wideband said it was going super lean, more than 16:1 at WOT. It's fine down low, but goes lean with higher rpms.
Hooked up my fuel pressure gauge to a long -4 line (normally right on the rail) and Shane held it in the car while we were driving. Fuel pressure drops from a normal 55-60psi down to around 25psi. The funny thing is that it doesn't knock at all, it just gets so lean it can't run. So now I have to figure out whats causing the loss of fuel, we came up with 3 possibilities: 1. Fuel filter is clogged. I recently went to e85, and converted just days before my dyno tune, so maybe the tank was cleaned out after a thousand miles and the filter can't flow enough now. 2. Fuel pump is going out. Hoping this is not the case. 3. It's a physical G force issue where the pump hanger is being starved. I doubt this, since it never had a problem in the past and I didn't mess with the hanger setup. Also it was a completely full tank while tuning last night, so it's doubtful. There was another car on the dyno last night though so we couldn't verify. On a positive note, I fixed the fueling issue at startup. As several of you know it would take multiple primes and tries before it would start. The wally 310 pump doesn't have a check valve, and all the fuel from the lines would leak back into the tank. I installed an Earl's one-way fuel valve in the tank and problem solved. The car now holds fuel pressure for hours after the car is turned off, and starts with no issues after a day of sitting. |
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Do you think the check valve could be the source of the low fuel pressure under high load?
|
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
That was suggested by Peter as well, but this was happening in June after the clutch break-in. I just installed the check valve two days ago.
|
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
But it didnt do it on the dyno while tuning it? The only thing that changed between then and now is the flywheel and clutch, right?
|
Re: My 2005 CTS-V
Well, fuel pumps break and fuel filters get clogged. It's just what they do.
But you are correct, nothing else has changed except the odometer reading. |
