The frustration, the money spent and the broken knuckles are all a part of owning one. But getting behind the wheel of one makes all the shit storms worth it. Kevin, I would feel the same way if I were in your shoes. Are you gonna try to get another Shep, or try to find something else? |
Re: My Recently Blown Up Shep Stage 3
I emailed Shep the other day, John Shepard replied a few hours later. He has a few interesting suggestions and offers.
One thing I will point out, he said Syncromesh is way too thin to protect the gears under heavy loads like freeway pulls. Ooops. My Prism is pending sale tomorrow AM, guy put $500 cash down to hold it. Should be getting some goodies pretty soon if all pans out :) aka twin and a stg 4. |

Re: My Recently Blown Up Shep Stage 3
Well the Prism is sold :)
And after you have done this about 16 times (literally), on my back, going slow as heck, 2.5 hrs later the tranny is out. Isn't this a typical picture... http://i1010.photobucket.com/albums/...0402001345.jpg Decisions, decisions. Do I even need a twin? My car isn't showing signs of slipping, but I just can't launch hard. I secretly want to blame the clutch. But no symptoms. |
Re: My Recently Blown Up Shep Stage 3
Not clutch, user error. lol

The only thing I don't like about my twin is the noise from the unsprung disc's.

Re: My Recently Blown Up Shep Stage 3
Dunno what the trouble is launching that thing is. I launched mine with the 61 on it a few times, you gotta give it a split second of slip while you let it out off the launch limiter, by that time you should be shredding the tires.
|
Re: My Recently Blown Up Shep Stage 3
Ive learned 3000RPM isnt no where near enough to go anywhere when launching. To scared to try anything higher. Once you guys totally have it figured out. Ill be a gimme pig trying the various techniques out.

Didn't know they had driver's ed. in middle school.

Re: My Recently Blown Up Shep Stage 3
Haha. With my last, untuned, 20G car I could spin all 4!
This car? Just drives away. For some reason I think the NLTS rev limiter hits at 6k and I bog out. Even when NLTS is off it still sucks? too stiff suspenion in rear? (Car doesnt squat at all) Pressure plate suckin a wang? Me not pedalin' well? blah |
Re: My Recently Blown Up Shep Stage 3
So does it bog out or just not rev over 6k then? heh I raced a 331 stroked mustang last night and found out that even 5500 on the 50 trim isn't enough rpm, dogged it bad. You tryed more rpm?
|
Re: My Recently Blown Up Shep Stage 3
I leave the line at 6000 rpm small slip and spin all 4 through 1st shift at 8500rpm, and grab 2nd hard, and spin some more.
|
Re: My Recently Blown Up Shep Stage 3
I had to up my 2 step my 2 increments on link I think I'm still about 5500ish range. But I'm not big powa

Re: My Recently Blown Up Shep Stage 3
I think what happens is I hit the launch control rev limiter. I think the MPH isn't high enough or low enough?
