Re: Project S14 240sx
^^ I have no idea wtf those last two posts are about...
Anyways, today I drove the car over to Mark's to get a more thorough inspection of the car and to start fixing some of the Honda-boy hacks done to the car. We went to U-pull it today to get a few things, since they had a '91 there. We just thought there may be a few things I could use. Ended up getting a wiper linkage, and a shifter boot since there's a gaping hole where the shifter comes through the floor. So far we have fixed the wiper motor and broken linkage rod. The previous owner removed the wiper motor and fuckered up the rod that goes from the motor to the wiper pivot. We also took care of the JDM Drifterboy hood mod (putting spacers under the hood hinges to prop up the back of the hood). Once we got the hood and hinges off, we found out he used a stack of sticky wheel balancing weights and super long bolts to space up the back of the hood. I wish I could have gotten a pic of how amazingly terrible it was when we found the weights under the hinges... I also got the cowl trim attached better, since there was only one clip holding it on. Anyways, here's a few pics of the car in the condition I picked it up in. http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/P1010481.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/P1010481.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/P1010482.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/P1010483.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/P1010484.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/P1010485.jpg Amazing ground clearance... http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/P1010486.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/P1010487.jpg Interior is clean, but needs some work http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/P1010488.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/P1010489.jpg The engine bay needs a little work too http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/P1010490.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/P1010491.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/P1010492.jpg Most amazing bumper attachment method ever invented... http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/P1010493.jpg We still have a long way to go... |
Re: Project S14 240sx
looks good man. it is pretty clean, that's for sure.

Re: Project S14 240sx
ROFL@ the hood lift kit, boo on no pics of that setup! Looking good man.
|
Re: Project S14 240sx
Wow there is definately some hacked stuff on that car, but it is still super clean!
|
Re: Project S14 240sx
It's good for a mn car. Looks nice I like the wheels on it.
|
Re: Project S14 240sx
Its super clean! But yea, fix the hacks and it should be a sweet whip.

Haha this is my buddies dream car. It looks good though Kevin.

Re: Project S14 240sx
Nice, well if u get the itch to drive I'm right up the highway, I'm stuck at home with no wheels.
I have seen the older 240s like a 92 and I loved the styling both in and out, I haven't seen too many of these. |
Re: Project S14 240sx
On Saturday morning I went over to the guy's house I got the car from and picked up a few more pieces like the brackets for the rear seat back, various interior trim pieces, glove box, and the stock wing.
So far today I got the back seat and rear dash trim panel back in, still missing the seat belts though. I don't have many spare buts and bolts laying around, and they didn't come with the car so that was about all I was able to do today. Gonna go to Mark's tomorrow and get a few more things taken care of. From what I've been researching, the speedometer should work if I just plug in the sensor (provided it's there and the harness isn't cut). It still has the auto ECU, so that's why the CEL is on. It throws something like 6 codes and won't idle when the engine isn't at operating temp. So on the list for tomorrow: Raise up the coilovers so that the exhaust doesn't drag over every little bump Try to get the speedo and reverse lights to work Get the wing re-installed Get the lower shift boot installed Get the massive exhaust leak fixed (the header to downpipe only has one bolt holding it together) List of parts I need to find sooner than later: Radio bezel and shifter boot and trim panel Manual ECU Plastic fender liners Trunk interior pieces Passenger side kick panel |
Re: Project S14 240sx
Hows that welded diff for just driving around?
|
Re: Project S14 240sx
It goes sideways very easy.
I know there is talk of a s15 rear end or a 1.5 lsd in the cars future |
Re: Project S14 240sx
It's not really too much different than a clutched LSD in the noises it makes around tight corners at low throttle, but if the roads are anything less than dry, the back end steps out VERY easily

Re: Project S14 240sx
That's a clean s14! I like your uber ground clearance! lol So how about that CA18DET swap?!

Re: Project S14 240sx
Haha no CA18 swap here. If anything gets swapped in, it's gonna be a RB25. I'm still looking into tuning options, I just want the manual ecu for now so that my CEL goes away.

Re: Project S14 240sx
Today I tried to get the speed sensor and reverse lights working, but the dumbshit kid fucked up the wiring so bad that that I'm gonna end up just rewiring everything for the trans. He cut the connectors off the sensors for the transmission, and completely removed everything for the auto harness outside of the wiring in the dash harness, including the wires and connectors I need to reuse.
But today I did get the rear seat bolted in, still missing the seat belts though Got the spoiler installed fixed the exhaust leak, but it's still damn loud Got the glove box installed Got the lower shift boot installed Tomorrow I'm gonna raise up the coilovers and maybe try to find a way to get a hanger installed somewhere in the middle of the exhaust system considering that the only places the entire system is mounted is to the head, the front section of the cat-back has one hanger, and the axle back has 3 hangers. |
Re: Project S14 240sx
It's good to see that this car went to a good home! Too many mad tyte jay dee emm Tokyo Drift Boyz out there these days.
|
Re: Project S14 240sx
Thanks! The biggest obstacle so far is the wiring that he fucked all to hell. I just downloaded a factory service manual, and I'm pretty sure that has all the wiring diagrams I'll need to get it straightened out.
|
Re: Project S14 240sx
Man that sucks on the wiring! Can you purchase a manual wiring harness maybe?

Just throwing that possibility out there And there is always http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...305distrib.jpg |
Re: Project S14 240sx
As I've said before, if anything gets swapped into the car it's gonna be an RB25. And on the wiring, I'm gonna pull it all up and pull all the covering off so I can see exactly what I'm working with. There's a guy in Milwaukee parting out one right now, so I'm gonna see about maybe getting his engine harness.
Today we got the front suspension raised up a little more than an inch, so it's not slammed to the ground anymore. Also took off the stock clutch fan since they are pretty much useless. The AC fan is wired to a switch in the interior, but I'm gonna be changing that so it comes on with the key. Also, the rear tires are absolutely bald on the inner sides, the right rear is down to the steel belts. So I hope it warms up soon so I can throw on my DSM summer wheels. Yesterday I was researching tuning options and came across a guy in Australia running a KA-T with the same turbo I'll be putting on it (GT3076R) and and at 22psi he made something like 413whp on 110 octane, so I'm hoping I should get close to that with E85. His engine was completely stock aside from forged pistons and head studs. |
Re: Project S14 240sx
Wow, you should make some good power with that thing, you gonna do a top mount manifold then?
|
Re: Project S14 240sx
Of course it'll be a top mount manifold. ;) 240's just look weird with a bottom mount setup
|
Re: Project S14 240sx
of course on E85 you will be able to turn that up a lot more
|
Re: Project S14 240sx
Haha If I can hit 400 on Shane's dyno I'll be happy. I'm not shooting for the moon here. Hell I'm sure 300 will be hard enough to keep traction.
|
Re: Project S14 240sx
Man, I'm kinda jealous of your stable now kev, turbo 240, nice black 1G, and an SV1000. Glorious!
Will you do forged pistons too, or just leave the motor stock? I'd think you could at least have a little fun on a 100% stock motor and 6-10psi...what do you tune these thigns with anyways? Chip, AEM? |

Re: Project S14 240sx

The KA24 internals are fairly strong. The rods are very strong. But the factory ECU with a turbo on it an pump gas runs way too much timing and they blow up. Put an AEM or something on it that gives real control over the ignition timing and you can make some power.
The attached dynosheet is a stock bottom end car, but he had an AEM EMS on E85 with big cams, 61mm turbo and a huge intake manifold. He ran it with the stock bottom end while he was building another motor and now the car runs 9s with the boost cranked up to the high 20s. |
Re: Project S14 240sx
When I put the Turbo on it I definitely wont be using the stock ecu. I'm thinking ill either run nistune (nissan version of dsmlink from Australia) aem, or megasquirt 2.

Re: Project S14 240sx
10sec 240!! shit son.
|
Re: Project S14 240sx
Haha I dunno if it'll make it to a drag strip or not. It's not really set up to be a drag car. I may take it once or twice for fun, but it won't be anything serious.
|
Re: Project S14 240sx
lame.
|
Re: Project S14 240sx
Hell it's a 240 it was made to go around corners not straigt lines.
|
Re: Project S14 240sx
sounds like a excuses to me, lol.
so we will see some dorifto action? |
