Well then you're probably right. Somewhere around 2700lbs with me in it. Someday I'll actually have to weigh it..

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Next piece to the puzzle was an intake. Steve (goat blower) had his 4" FP intake for sale so I went and picked that up.
Here is a pic of it installed http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020869.jpg If you look you will see that something is missing. A recirc fitting for the bov. So I quickly addressed that issue http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020874.jpg Also drilled and tapped a fitting for my valve cover breather http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020891.jpg Then of course I painted it black http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020905.jpg Here is a quick mock up pic of everything before I sent primo my manifold to get ceramic coated. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020909.jpg |
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Looks great, keep up the work, all I can think is clean when I see your engine bay.
I remember that day now. I didn't get bit by the power bug, just looking for the perfect (in my eyes) setup. I don't know if you/are in a hurry, but you could of easily sold/traded that pipe for a recirc'd one. I like the black and red theme, maybe time for a little more red? |
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Wow, awesome work, very clean. Glad to help with the WG setup.
SMIM in the future? |

The only place I could put more red would be the couplers which I have thought about.. Other than that I'm not too sure what would look good in red. Quote:

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
I have do a wire tuck. It's 100% necessary lol. Just looks so clean.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
What are you doing about an air filter? Stock sidemount location?
|
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
I would love to do that but that's where my fuse box is located. I have an Injen filter that I've been using but I definately need a new one. I already talked to MAP about getting a new K&N that fits perfectly. I took my pop-up motor out on that side so I can have a filter tucked in there as far away from the engine as possible.
|
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
I would love to tuck my engine bay, it just looks so cluttered compared to yours.
But I feel unsure about putting it in the fender well. |
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
I would prefer it somewhere else too, but it hasn't had a problem even through rain. I still have the plastic guards blocking anything the tires try and throw at it. The main reason I put it there is cause I only had to rewire like 5 wires.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Eventually I got sick of looking at 2 random blue couplers and went to napa and got some black ones for now. Eventually I'll probably get some real red ones.
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020931.jpg Since my turbo is oil cooled only I had to plug the coolant lines. First I drilled and tapped the nipple on the thermostat housing and used a bolt with some rtv on the threads. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020934.jpg Second I had to plug the waterpipe. Went to CA Performance and they hooked me up with a 5/8 inverted flare and a plug. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0001934a-1.jpg While I had the waterpipe out I decided to paint it. You can also see the longer studs I'm using for the manifold spacer. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020945.jpg Also had to plug the oil feed from the head since I'll be feeding this turbo off the OFH. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020949.jpg I woke up this morning to 2 packages at my door. First being my FIC 1600's. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020942.jpg Installed http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020948.jpg Second was my 2.5" 90 degree coupler to replace the nasty elbow that was welded on my turbo. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020811.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020944.jpg Then decided to mock up the LICP. It came up about an inch short, so I cut it and used a coupler to give me some more length. (Not ideal, but it works.) http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020952.jpg And now that's where I sit. Still waiting on a fitting for my oil feed line, FP drain line on it's way, and my manifold to be done. |
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Looks good. Is that just a stock fuel rail painted black?
|
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Yes it is.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
You should invest in an evo oil cap. I think there like 18 bucks at mitsu. Really looks good on a dsm.
|
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
I have the exact same oil cap as an evo just without the mobile1 sticker. Haha

I drove mine through rain a few times. One time really heavy rain. Having the sheilds REALLY helps.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Got my FP drain line saturday. I wasn't too impressed with it. The size of brass nipples used is actually a little smaller then the stock drain line. I took it apart and drilled out the nipples as much as possible. Makes me feel a little better about it anyway..
The line http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020960.jpg Flange for the turbo. Not drilled http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020958.jpg Drilled http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020971.jpg Flange for oil pan. Not drilled http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020959.jpg Drilled (Probably gonna drill it out even more) http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020973.jpg |
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Got my missing piece from CA Racing and finally got to make my oil feedline.
First I had to remove the plug. The allen hole was stripped out so I had to resort to welding the allen wrench to the plug. Thank god it actually worked! http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020985.jpg Then I installed my .65 restrictor, which many people don't run and ruin their journal bearing turbo's when feeding off the oil filter housing. I did tons of research. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020937.jpg Yes I know my alternator is jacked.. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020974.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020976.jpg Then I picked up my manifold from primo. Great guys! http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020986.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020990.jpg Last night I worked on the car til 4:30am to get everything completed. I had everything ready to go to be started today when I woke up. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...0/P1020994.jpg Took a nice HDR pic while I was at it :) http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...2010/hdr22.jpg After trying to get it started for 30mins, it finally decided to fire up! Here is the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4FbPtXQABE Then, even though there is salt on the roads I had to take it for a ride. So I just took it for a quick 10min stroll around my neighbor hood. Not to mention I'm running open o2 housing and no front bumper. So I tried to stay on the back roads. I also got a new camera and mount so I decided to test it out. (youtube was being gay so I had to upload it on photobucket.) http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...ttestdrive.jpg |
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Looks like the car took you by surprise a bit at about 3:14 haha
looks good man! |
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
I run my oil feed line off my oil filter housing with no restrictor per request of PTE reuilder. Never had a problem at all. I've got a journal bearing 67mm pte turbo with 0 shaft play because of it lol. Your set up is looking pretty nice by the way!! Keep with the black theme! When are you going to ditch the 1g bov though?
|
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Looking and sounding great Andy!
|
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Thanks guys! Spinning is already an issue. Probably cause it's so cold out. We'll see what happens come spring time. It's really wierd bringing my car to 7k + rpm since I used to never make power passed 6500. Now, that's when the power really starts to kick in.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Thanks. Oh and for the bov I plan on picking up a Greddy type s, or rs. Whatever I find for a decent price.
|
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
damn i wish i still had my greddy type rs bov i woulda sold it to ya for $70

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Very nice! Can't wait to see what it does on dry ground!

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Car looks great! PM me with some feedback on the manifold.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
PM'd. Thanks for the compliments!

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Good purchase! I love the type S!
|
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Got my type s this morning. Gonna talk to primo about powerder coating the top. What do you guys think for a color? Red?
|
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Looking good man! Get this thing on the rollers up at DB and get a good tune in it. How much boost do you think you'll go for with it? I say bring it to the spring dyno day and crank it up :D
Very clean. |
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
I'm not sure where I'm going to bring it for a tune. I have always tuned my own car so we'll see. I've talked to a lot of FWD guys about dynoing and on a load dyno, like DB's they tend to spin a lot compared to a dynojet like map's dyno. But who knows we'll see.
As for boost I'm not sure. I'm guessing somewhere around 25-30psi. Whatever gets me around 500whp. As of now the turbo setup is back out of the car do to the o2 housing not sealing on the turbo. Both the surfaces are warped like I stated in my other thread. Once I get that taken care of I'll bolt it all back together and wait for the snow to melt. :) |
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
I have done a lot of 500-700whp FWD cars. It comes down to the tires used and strapping though.
|
Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Yeah as of now i'm running 18's with street tires. Which is 100% most of my traction problems. I already got some rims for slicks I just gotta get some but that probably won't happen til sometime in the summer. I'd really hate to spend the money on some dyno time just to find out I would spin and get nothing accomplished.
