They are one in the same. Check the thread about it in the parking lot (I'd link but I'm on my phone)

Wow, those are damn good times for a stock appearing turbo!

Re: FP RED for evo 8 & 9

Ported IM and TB in my opinion is the best bang for your buck. Anyways I will look at some HTA3076 graphs and see how it compares to this FP red. If there isn't much difference then I wish the HTA3076 good luck.

Brandon, here's the Indy/Wilson Manifolds v2 manifold (that buschur tested), about a month ago:
http://mitsustyle.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19835

Also, here's a pic of the turbine wheel (mentioned above). Kinda cool it has a FP logo on it :)

http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...wTWcasting.jpg

stikx, the HTA3076 is still gonna make a little more power up top, but its gonna spool later and be about twice as expensive. More info on a hta3076 test HERE. The HTA3076 is definitly a FP3065 killer, but the fp red might just be a HTA3076 killer (for evo 6/7/8/9 guys anyways).

I think you're right on the ported IM/TB being the best bang/buck. A $75 port job and you get 7-10whp all over, not bad. The Indy/WM v0 will be ~$500, If that produces decent gains up top w/o sacrificing much or any spool down low, it would be 'the next step' for someone like me, after going to the red or some other big turbo. I'm damn happy with mine as it is though!

stikx 07-17-2008 12:45 PM

Re: FP RED for evo 8 & 9

I kind of figured, the fp red would kill the 3076 hta market due to the red being cheaper and a bolt on turbo. Now I want to see the tq curve on a 2.3 :D.

Friday night the car mentioned in the original post went out for some shake-down runs. Best pass was 10.45@134mph, with a lift somewhere in 4th gear due to the car in the right lane swerving.

So like 390awhp on a Dyno Dynamics, if that's an AWD Dynojet and not running in FWD.

+1. 390 @26psi sounds like DSM 50-trim numbers. I'd have thought the numbers would be a bit more for an Evo Red.

scheides 08-07-2008 01:25 PM

Re: FP RED for evo 8 & 9

Look at the long list of stock and unported stuff guys. As seen on my car, it all adds up. 390whp on a super mild tune (the guy has no knock control on that ECU!) at 26psi could easily be 430whp on a more aggressive tune at 29psi.

And personally, I don't know a ton of DSM's with 50-trims making more than ~300whp, 400whp is more average 61mm territory, and the numbers there seem few and far between.

Who knows, someone local needs to buy one and see what it does. It will depend entirely on the car, its setup, and the tune done on it. Either way, how can anyone say that ~400whp on a stock appearing turbo is weak, lame, ghey, or otherwise? Seriously?

Shane@DBPerformance 08-07-2008 01:39 PM

Re: FP RED for evo 8 & 9

No knock control is more common than having knock control. You stock ECU Evo/DSM guys are just spoiled. :)

How about a 16G DSM making 360awhp? Or 16G Evos making 360-380awhp?

Sorry Chris, just giving you shit. I dunno why they would run that stock air intake pipe and a WORKS O2 housing, those are probably hurting it a decent amount.

See, so there's MORE power to be had, all this little stuff adds up!

Haha I only grab my own nuts thank you, if Blouche and English Racing (or AMS or whomever) would do something like this I'd post about it too, making power turbocharged cars that's what this site is all about! And driving circles around your opponents, but I don't need a FP RED (or to hang onto anyone's nuts) to do that with you matty! I have done it already :)

MattD, order a FP WHITE, it's perfect for you!

His mod aren't that different then mine when I made 366 on my horse-shit tune at LSE on my bolt on 50trim. I did have a ghetto intake pipe held together with safety wire, and my homemade IC piping, other than that pretty similar.

366 or 266? Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong day.

Halon 08-07-2008 03:37 PM

Re: FP RED for evo 8 & 9

366, it was at the dyno day. We took it for a couple spins the night before and the morning of to get the AFR's somewhat decent. That was the extent of the tune on that day.

Test was done on a mustang dyno! This dyno reads a little high, close to a dynojet. We have had many bone stock 9's make 270 to 280 on this dyno. Now to the car, Evo 8
evo red turbo ported by me and ported exhaust manifold
works 02
works dp test pipe and greddy sp2 cat-back
ets 4.5 fmic and ets intercooler piping
s2 cams
Br dual pumps
1200 pte injectors
Gm maf with translator
tial bov
hks evc 6
arp head studs
E85 with 30 psi all the way through the gear

Finally, Dyno Dynamics numbers!

Our gas is just as bad. We sure don't have the quality of pump gas here that they have out east. That dyno graph looks like crap.

382 with a fully built 2.3? Weak. I should have no problem getting within 30 whp of that with my stock turbo/engine; I think I'll save the $10k.

Holy freaking crap, FP Red went 10.2-10.4 @ ~140-142mph this weekend at the shootout.

Car @ CBRD out west on 93 oct pump gas, 26psi of boost:

IX w/ basic bolt-ons:
FP red
Cosworth M2 cams,
TBE
evopower mods o2 dump
Intake
stock ecu
stock IC
880's

http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s...g?t=1219195059

before/after is stock ix turbo to FP Red w/ o2 housing w/ dump. Not sure if he had a different o2 housing before.

Loose 400rpm of spool for 56whp, really not too shabby.

HAHA I just found out that this car is running the factory airbox. No wonder its numbers are lackluster :P

I bet he would gain less than 10hp if he went to a cone filter setup at the same boost levels. My experience on Shane's dyno show very little gain by switching to a cone filter setup at those boost levels and hp. The only thing I gained from modifying my stock airbox was that the AFR leaned out a bit which added like another 5hp. Switching to a cone filter setup after that seemed to net me nothing. I also don't like to see the red tapering like the stock IX turbo. Hopefully 30+psi boost levels may be another story. :)

Chris, buy one already will you! The next "red turbo post" from you should be about YOUR dyno graph with a red! :D
