Looking really nice, I like the black interior.

That black leather makes me jealous with rage. I have only had the tan leather, and everytime I see it I cry.

Re: My projects

lol thanks :) I had been looking for them for ever.. Then Brendan picked up a parts car, and wala :)
There are a few spots, where the belts had rubbed, but I worked on them and got them conditioned.
I'm stoked! I had to trade out some of the rear plastics. The ones in it were so sunfaded they were light grey rather then dark. If you look closely in the pic ^ you can see the rear seatbelt is light and before that is dark.. lol.

I'm thinking about ordering in the momo steering wheel and shift knob. I finally found one I like:

That black leather looks awesome, but you'll hate it in the summer when it's 95 degrees outside.

Blah. It LOOKS good. HAHA.

Re: My projects

I had black leather in first DSM, with no AC... Sucked so bad, the car never cools down even with the windows all the way down.

Nice. And the classic standing in the empty engine compartment pic is always needed. Good work.

^ Very true.. Brendan laughed at me for asking him to take a pic.

its cool that your working on your stuff girl. keep up the good work and cant wait to see it done

Re: My projects

Thanks :)
I did need Brendan's help for quite a few things. He was my big strong man that did all the big bolts. But my goal for this car was to do everything myself. The majority of the silver car I had done myself.. But I love that feeling that "this is mine, I built it".

Nice work; but just one thing.....Did you change before that picture was taken? Because you look pretty clean for someone that just removed an old DSM engine.

I had a long sleeve on (since it's cold in there) and nitrile gloves. Didn't want to look gross in a picture.. geeze
I can't fit in mechanics gloves, so I picked these up from a beauty store:

Haven't ripped on me once!! I'm very impressed!

Got these in, one for the silver car, one for the laser :D

tranny/ clutch/ flywheel off. I napped and Brendan worked on that :pc:
The clutch was pretty shot, flywheel stock and tranny good.. got a new act/ fidanza ready to go in though :D

Got the motor disassembled. Bearings were crap! Getting rid of the front balance shaft and grinding down the rear.

Head looked great :)

Yup.. MY garage :D

Brendan made fun of me that it won't run for another 3 months :(
I just ordered in some SS brake lines, prothane motor mounts, clear cam gear cover, ACL rod/ crank bearings and a fire-retardant jacket :)

Other then that, think I just need a few sensors (knock/ O2)

I'd really like to pick up the MOMO steering wheel, but omg, 200 + 75 for the hub adapter.. Trying to bring myself to spend that much

This thread wouldn't be 4 pages if you had a penis. Looks like fun though

Re: My projects

Do you know someone who powdercoats? Any idea how they made your Valve Cover that color? I'm curious because I do coating in my garage for fun, and wondering how they did it. I ended up doing a gloss black base coat, then I put a coat of transparent red on top of that. That's how I got mine to match my car the best I could. Here's how mine turned out. With minimal light it looks like a gloss black, but when light hits is you can see the red. Car looks good though! You should throw a Maaco paint job on that, the paint looks pretty sad.

Re: My projects

^ That turned out really well too.. It's def really hard to tell what it really looks like without seeing it in person
He did a black tint as a clear over aluminum (or maybe it was chrome) :)

But I would never get a maaco paint job. Trash!! I have a guy that does all my work.. just trying to get the engine in sort before spending money on the looks

Halon 03-25-2008 11:27 PM

Re: My projects

I love it when people call my paint job trash! They do a nice black cherry actually! Paint still looks good to this day. Just don't get their cheapest paint job.

Your paint job can't be beat for the price.

brando 03-26-2008 12:13 AM

Re: My projects

did you paint this yourself?

kittay 03-26-2008 09:15 PM

Re: My projects

Doesn't look too bad. I had a laser painted there.. omg the overspray. It was awful! I don't think they even put a clear on it.

But I'm going to have my guy do a few extra things.. Got a few ideas for him to paint :D He painted the silver car, and wouldn't go to anyone else, esp for the price!

oh woops i looked at kittys name and thought it was her car.

so did you just have them use ppg or something?

Halon 03-26-2008 11:29 PM

Re: My projects

I just had them do their 2nd to best paint job, and had them match the black cherry already on it.

What did you do to your car before dropping it off though? Remove parts, prep any thing?

I drove the car there in it's wonderful multicolor condition. In their parking lot, I removed the headlight lenses, tail lights, marker lights, and the center grill piece between the head light lenses (they sprayed that separately). That's it. I didn't prep anything. I paid for their prep job.
