Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
By the way, which Friday night are you talking about?
|
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
Kevin, bring a timing light! There's a checker in robbinsdale we could probably borrow one from :D
MattD, this friday night (i.e. tomorrow)! |
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
^i was wondering the same thing for a bit, what about a turbo install?
But i need a return line/flange, 4" coupler/intake. |
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
I shouldn't have fucking said anything about my car being good to go. Got in it to go to work this morning, turned the key on, everything was fine, but as soon as the starter engaged, everything went dead. That same thing happened once before, but everything came back on right away, so now I'm trying to figure this out.
|
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
I wasn't able to get the turboback exhaust so I'll be taking that off my list for now.

Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
Does anyone have a dremmel I might be able to use on saturday?
I got these billet caps for some of the plastic stuff in my engine and one of the reservoirs needs to be cut a bit wider. I keep thinking of all these little things I need to do  |
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
If someone has a 1G Logger please bring it on Sat, I would like to check a few things on my Laser. Thanks!
|
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
I just looked at the map and you're like 5 minutes (if that) from where I work.
|
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
Well I got home from work early, so come on over whenever! Just ring the doorbell, or walk around back to the garage. Make sure to shut the gate so Turbo doesn't get out!
|
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
I might head out there tomarrow. Does anyone need anything Ive got Tools and alot of spare parts lying around.
|
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
I left my electric impact wrench at my brother's place, so if anyone has one bring it, might come in handy :D
|
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
It was a productive night! Big boost leak on Kevin's car, but we crushed the 1G BOV he had....MattD's spark plugs were worn down so much I can't believe the car hardly boosted! Then got X Factor's intake installed and he got hist first taste of a power mod on a car, woowoo!

Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
:score010:
I'm looking at the destructions and it says there was a 3mm vacuum cap that should be in the box. I'll dig around in it tomorrow. |

Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
Got tons accomplished this weekend!
-New Plugs in MattD's car -Short Ram air intake on X Factor's 4G Eclipse -New Plugs, boost leak test, and some logging of the Evo (hitting 100% on stock injectors now!) -Boost leak test on Kevin_1G_Drummer's GSX, found leaky/bent BOV flange -adjusted TKR's alternator belt -Kevin took his maiden voyage on the scooter-o-death -Extensive work on S2kracka's laZer, without going over his $100 budget, we put in a plethora of parts including some spare garbage parts I had lying around in a box. Check out his thread in the project section for more details!!!! http://www.scheides.com/albums/dynod...3231.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/dynod...3237.sized.jpg X Factor's new turbo 4G! ;) http://www.scheides.com/albums/dynod...3235.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/dynod...3240.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/dynod...3242.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/dynod...3251.sized.jpg [img]http://www.scheides.com/albums/dynodayprep/IMG_3254.sized.jpg[img] http://www.scheides.com/albums/dynod...3260.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/dynod...3258.sized.jpg http://www.scheides.com/albums/dynod...3269.sized.jpg |
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
Awesome weekend, can't wait to see how the Laser does next weekend!
|
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
That was a really fun day! Thanks to Scheides, Mark, Matt, and Tim for lending a hand today! We got a ton of stuff done to the Laser and cruised down to Owatonna to pick up my free 3" turboback. Potato Oles FTW!
We weren't able to get X-Factor's (Tim) Magnaflow catback installed because cutting of the factory piping is necessary and we didn't want to f**k around with that, but at least we got a game plan set for him so its going to be done right the first time. |
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
X Factor, hit up mark (TKR) about your exhaust piping, maybe you can get something simple mocked up yet this week, eliminating one of the cats and getting your cat-back on the car at least!
|
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
Yup, do it some evening this week! All you'll need is a few feet of 2.5" stainless steel piping and that thing will be custom and ready to rock.

Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
Yeah i'd really like to get it done this week for the dyno, i'm going to contact the Mike from RRE, the guy i'm looking at getting headers from so I can get the specs on them and then i'll get in touch with Mark and see if he can help me out this week.
Thanks for all the help and advice this weekend! I learned so much and put a lot of pieces together on things I wasn't sure about, it was a lot of fun and a great chance to get my hands dirty. |
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
Here's some pics I took of the engine bay with the short ram in, thanks again Scheides, Kevin, and Matt!

Easily gained 5hp off that mod. I might put the Injen one on, and I think i'm doing to debadge whenever I get the motivation. |
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
Thanks to Matt and Schiedes for helping out with my boost leak test, and crushing my bov (we were mostly done when Tim got there). I think that the reason the flange leaks so bad is cuz the BOV was bolted to it when it was welded to the charge pipe, and I think the heat warped it. The scooter of death was alot of fun! Sorry I didn't make it back over on saturday, a few things came up so I couldn't make it.
|
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
Tim, I just read up on your intake system, exhaust system, and the headers that you want. Sounds like everything is showing nice gains on the dyno, and the video clips of your exhaust system make it sound pretty nice.
|
Re: Dyno Prep Day Party at My House!
Yeah. When we were talking about it with Mark I got a little worried that maybe I wasn't sure about the gains, but the guy selling them still claims close to 300 hp (i'm assuming he means to the crank, he's just dumb if not) with a m/t.
I think overall gains of about 20 whp with intake/headers/full exhaust, is whats being shown from the dynos, from what I can tell. (obviously varies, but I think that seems to be what the couple people that have done it and posted dynos have shown) Mark is TkrPerformance, right? Thanks for helpin me out with the research also, Chris, having someone with more experience give a nod helps ease the conscience. |
