Re: Where's Jake?
Well I'm up at school in fargo and while I'd love to go down, I'm not about to miss class for it. I'd love somebody to pic up my injectors for me though if he has them or something.
|
Re: Where's Jake?
Kind of hard for someone that lives here to do. We know about as much as you guys do. I'm trying to ask a few people that know him, but so far no luck.
I wouldn't discuss any type of day for coming down though...guests can still view the topic. ;) |
Re: Where's Jake?
You could drive by the shop and see if you can see anything. I think that is all they are asking for.
|
Re: Where's Jake?
I just drove past his shop tonight and saw nothing, but Mr. Boxxy's black 2ga eclipse outside. It was in a different spot than I last seen it, however. Everything I could see inside it looked fine. Gauges on the a pillar were in, Full interior was there. Front end was sitting high, no engine in it. Exhaust was fully intact. Outside looked fine from what I could see. Knocked on the door and no body was there, it was dead silent. Couldn't see anything in from the back window either.
That's about all I could see for ya guys, sorry. I'll be driving around in that area more often pretty soon, due to cutting hours at work, so I'll say anything if I see anything. |
Re: Where's Jake?
I am sure that will relieve Boxxy some knowing that his car is still in good shape. Thanks for the recon!

Re: Where's Jake?
well, after about 10 calls to paypal, they finally gave in, they are investigating the account. Anyone who paid jake using paypal, especially if you paid his girlfriends account because "paypal was being screwy and not letting his account work" give them a call and make SURE they investigate your claim. The more claims there are, the more likely we are to get our money back. I still made the mistake of sending him a wire transfer, so even if I do get my money back, Im still in this for the full shabang shabang, so he won't hear the last of me. Please if you used paypal file a claim ASAP. also pm me or post it here
|
Re: Where's Jake?
ok now I'm pissed. He told me he didn't have a paypal account! So I've always been mailing him checks. For my injectors which were $275 I paypaled tpux $100 for his manifold which he sent to jake and then I sent a $175 check to Jake in the mail. Wow I'm pissed
|
Re: Where's Jake?
I got screwed out of 350 for a magnus. Luckly my mom works at the credit union and tried to stop payment on the check. That didnt work so somehow she got my money back through the guys bank. So I got my money back. I think she might have done an ISF(insufficient funds) and thats what got my money back.

Re: Where's Jake?
I cant believe this is happening again.
Anyone with money involved needs to get involved with their local PD and the Winona PD before the shop is cleared out and everything is gone. Or do like others have mentioned and make a trip down there and demand an outcome. I still cant believe there is over $26k missing in this ordeal with people that have only posted in here. Makes sense how these tube cars were being funded. |
Re: Where's Jake?
No one has called the police?

Re: Where's Jake?
I called the winona police dept and they pretty much just said I have to get an attorney
|
Re: Where's Jake?
That doesn't sound right at all. You do not need an attorney to file a police report on them.
|
Re: Where's Jake?
I agree, you should call the police and talk to a detective or something higher up than the receptionist. Basically you are dealing with theft. Does he have a real business, or were the checks made out to him personally? If they were made out to him, he is in a world of hurt.

Re: Where's Jake?
we all have filed a police report, but the police are retarded. Jake HAS eric's car, and he was calling to report it stolen, but because jake didn't PHYSICALLY take it from eric, they "can't do anything"
this is AMAZINGLY bullshit and btw, you wouldn't be the tim who works at the shop and is selling his evo, would you? |

If the vehicle is secured on their property and they will not turn it over to the owner how is it not stolen? |
Re: Where's Jake?
the police simply do not want to get involved, they are avoiding us at all costs, and should be fined for such poor behaviour. Their duty is to the citizens of this country, if they aren't going to help us out when someone steels our stuff, HOW ON EARTH do they expect us to not take matters into our own hands. Police should either be extremely strict and dilagent with their work, or stay completely out of our way. They can't be in the middle on any issue, because otherwise the whole system fails. Im probably going to call them a few more times and bug them until they decide to actually get off their asses and begin an investigation.
|
Re: Where's Jake?
Yep, everyone should start calling them every day. They will get sick of it quickly and start checking it out. Either that or you say you are getting an attorney to file a claim against them for negligence.
|
Re: Where's Jake?
We need to find and recruit a local lawyer that's into cars, and get them on this site just for times like these, for free legal advice/action!
|
Re: Where's Jake?
As mentioned, he's had my car for nearly 3 months now.
I've called the Winona police; the officer who I spoke to seemed sympathetic and said he would keep an "open report" on the situation, under the heading "theft" for now. It's my understanding that it won't be an official criminal report, but it can be a prelude to one. We'll see what happens in the future. |
Re: Where's Jake?
Drove past the shop tonight with a friend, I was shotty, Garage light was on, door was wide open. I saw Jake looking back at me from inside. Blue SRT4, white 4 door grand am, like a 95-98 and a couple others. One car that looked like a 2g was under a tarp, but suprisingly the garage was pretty clean. They were all huddled around something in the middle, tinkering with it.
I couldn't stop though cause I was with a friend and were running late. |

What number are you guys called to talk to the police? I'll call them asap but I want to make sure were speaking with the same department.
|
Re: Where's Jake?
Really shitty. Well if he was in the shop recently then some people need to came out there and wait for him to come back and deal with him directly.
Sorry to hear about that shit Mr 98GSX. |
Re: Where's Jake?

Re: Where's Jake?
Ok so everybody that has a problem with Jake call the winona police dept at this number and report your problem. (507) 457-6302
|
Re: Where's Jake?
So I just called the police dept and talked to the same bitchy lady I did last time. Even though I told her $26000 is at stake she still said "it's a civil matter and that's something you guys agreed on." I told her that he has a guys car (mrboxx) and is not willing to contact the owner or return it. She said that would be considered theft. So mrboxx call em up and file a report because I sure as hell can't.

Re: Where's Jake?
Okay. Yesterday, I drove the four hours to Winona with a friend. Spoke to the guy next door and he said Jake was just there and left to run an errand across town. My friend and I went and got some food, then came back to wait for Jake to return.
While we were waiting, I called Vassil, who is one of the two guys who rent the shop. He said he would stop out at the shop and meet me and I could get in and take a look at my car. He mentioned that Jake had been at the shop the night before, from about 5pm till after midnight, working on the strut tower rust on my car. An hour later, Jake's girlfriend showed up and asked me what I was doing there. She obviously thinks I'm crazy or stalking her or otherwise bothering her and Jake needlessly. I told her I was waiting for Vassil, and she asked me "You talked to Vassil?" Me: Yes, just a few minutes ago. Her (doubting): "Really?" Me: Yes, really. He's on his way here. She wanted to know why I kept coming out there without calling anyone first. My answer to that is, for the past month and a half, Jake hasn't returned any of my attempts to contact him, so I figured he was hiding from me. Now if I just show up at the shop with him there by surprise, THEN we can talk. Anyway, she got out of her car and started walking in the shop door. I asked her if I could come inside and look at my car and she said she didn't want to let me in. Okay, fine with me. Vassil's on his way and he'll let me in. A few minutes later, she came out and left. I told her if she sees Jake to tell him to meet me at the shop. Actually, Tim got there first and I introduced myself and he had no problem letting me in. Vassil got there about fifteen minutes later. We all talked for probably two hours. Jake indeed has made a little progress on my car, enough for me to believe he really intends to finish it, eventually. My engine is more or less done, it just needs to have a CAS and a valve cover put on and be installed in the car. Most of my other parts (intake, IC pipes, turbo, etc) are just kinda in a pile on the floor. I'm not exactly happy about that, but most of it's going to be replaced as soon as I get the car back. Brian's engine, the one he sent to Jake, was sitting on an engine stand, totally untouched. Another short block, with a fresh rotating assembly, was sitting next to mine. Vassil thinks that Jake is going to consider Brian's old engine as a core, while giving him this other built block and head. Apparently, that's not what Brian and Jake had originally agreed on. Since Jake wasn't there and never showed up, I can't say for sure whose engine was whose or what the story was. I left Jake a note taped to my car's windshield explaining that I wasn't pissed off at him (and I'm really not pissed, just disappointed and confused, which is really worse than being angry) and that I was happy to see that he was making progress on my car. I wrote that the strut tower patches on the one side look great, and the other side will probably turn out good too. I also told him to call me so we can talk, and that's really all I want at this point. I can live with him taking another month to finish my car; it won't be cool, but I don't absolutely NEED my car now like I did two months ago. But he does need to call me and let me know what's going on. So... that's where it stands. Got home last night at 3:30am, had a doctor's appointment at 8:45am, and now I'm gonna go crash for a while. I'll post a few pics I took later on. |
Re: Where's Jake?
Wow that still seems wierd that he never showed up. But glad to hear he's making progress. You didn't happen to see any 1000cc injectors sitting around did you hahaha.
|
Re: Where's Jake?
"Another short block, with a fresh rotating assembly, was sitting next to mine. Vassil thinks that Jake is going to consider Brian's old engine as a core, while giving him this other built block and head."
This short block should be mine, hopefully! -J.T. |
Re: Where's Jake?
Quote:
JT, it's possible that block is yours. Vassil had no idea, though I think he got the impression from Jake that it was going to Brian. But Brian told me that it was supposed to have a knife-edged crank and an O-ringed deck, and that block had neither of those, that I could tell. So it's still up in the air. |
Re: Where's Jake?
I am struggling to understand why you did not go to the police department while you were in Winona?

Re: Where's Jake?
we've called the police and they aren't doing anything about it. Its amazing how much jake has lied to us, he told me my shortblock was done and he was waiting on the head from the machine shop, yada yada yada. I specifically told him to use MY core because its never been decked or anything, and its a MINT less than 95,000 mile completely stock 4g63. If anyone is doubting my concerns for the block never being decked, I have a buddy with a 2g who's built block has given him NOTHING but knock since he bought it, the reason? compression is too high due to a block that has been decked too many times.
If jake truely is using that other block to send to me, WHY THE FUCK did he even bother having me send him the core. He should have just told me, "don't bother, I have no intentions of listening to your requests" me and j t both got the same pistons, which are in the shortblock on the ground (serial number confirmed) jake, since I know your probably reading this, if you actually start answering my calls and comunicating with me, I would much rather get my engine built and everything like we discussed earlier, than have to go through with this lawsuit and get my money back that way. Give me a FUCKING CALL for christ sake. |
Re: Where's Jake?
So does anybody think I'll ever get my injectors back?
|
Re: Where's Jake?
so are any locals willing to check up on jake for us or what? I would like someone to confront him about my engine, since he still refuses to answer my calls.
Id really appriciate it, also bring up other people if you feel like it. |
