Re: All Mitsu Cookout -- August 26, 2007 -- Rogers, MN

I just updated the sign up page. We are up to 81 sign ups!!

The price for the Cookout is $5 again. That includes you, your car, one passenger, and all the food you can eat. It would really help if you prepaid using paypal. My paypal is cgendron@mail.com If you pre-pay it helps speed up the registration process the day of the show. If you don't have paypal, don't sweat it, just pay at the event.

We are less than seven weeks away now!

Curt

Hey everyone,

Thanks to those that sent a paypal in the last week or so. I've had a bunch of them. Looks like we have 97 sign ups. The updated list is at:
http://mn3s.org/cookout-list.html

We are still on pace to get around 150 cars there, which is awesome. But don't forget to keep bugging your friends that own Mitsus. Lets try and get as many cars as we can together. Its gonna be fun!

later,
Curt

I'll be there, but I agree about having it in a parking lot isn't that great of an idea. For 5 hours?
But, I do understand about the park issues.
I'll still be there though...

I was just looking through the sign ups and noticed that the 87 Mitsu Van just signed up. So Pete and anyone else in the "other" category, you better bring your "A" game. ;)

Re: All Mitsu Cookout -- August 26, 2007 -- Rogers, MN

Hey everyone,

The sign-ups keep piling up. We are up to 124 cars on the list. The current list is at:
http://www.mn3s.org/cookout-list.html

We are a little over three weeks away now. If you are planning on coming, don't forget to sign up:
http://mn3s.org/lists/?p=subscribe&id=5

One thing to start thinking about is your car sign. You can fill out your sign ahead of time. Then when you check in, the day of the show, all I need to give you is your car number. Here is the car sign you can download:
http://www.mn3s.org/car-sign.doc

And my example sign can be found here:
http://www.mn3s.org/car-sign-curt.doc

Thanks,
Curt

My laser won't be up there, but I'm still hoping to go with my Avenger.

It's a Mitsu/Chrysler mix too. :)

There is no official cruise after the Cookout. But a couple of times, someone has put one together. I've got a ton of work to do after the Cookout, so there is no way I can do anything like that.

But I hear that I-94 looks like a Mitsu dealership after the Cookout, as everyone gets on the freeway at the same time. ;)

How many more Galants will it take so they have their own category, so Pete doesn't have to compete against the van again?

LOL. There are only a few Galants signed up so far. We'd need about 10 to show up before I'd give them there own category. I don't think that will happen. Maybe we should just make a category with just Pete in it. Then he might win. j/k

How many are signed up so far? I have a 01 ES Galant witha fram air filter in it, and drifting scratches in the front bumper. If that makes 10, I'll sign it up!

Hey everyone,

Not much time until the Cookout. I was adding up the sign-ups, and came up with some interesting stats. I added up the numbers (134 sign ups) and came up this breakdown:

DSMs........51
3/Ses........30
EVOs.........25
3g Eclipse...10
Galants......6
StarQuest...4
Galant VR4..2
Avengers....2
Diamante....2
the Van......1

Only 18 days left now.

I'm in, haven't been on here for a long time. Going to sign up, but pay when I get there if that's okay? I had fraud and deleted my paypal. Think my other buddy is planning to go also from Eau Claire. LSE is tuning it right now (black 91tsi fwd). That should be fun when it's done.

See you guys.

what if your car has no bumper and barely runs to make it, is there a class for that? I think there should be a trophy for best turbo turd, lol. what about the most ozone unfriendly?

Yep that's the night I come home. 3 years running I haven't been able to make. Oh well. Plus my Mitsu is here in Virginia. There's always next year.

There isn't a turbo turd class, but you can still bring your car if its a work in progress. We've had cars show up on trailers, that weren't planned that way. We've had cars missing bumpers and missing a good car wash. ;) All Mitsus are welcome.

That was sweet! That was also back in the day when you actually had a Mitsu you could bring to this car show! Now all you got is your POS Ford! ;)

Finally signed up, I'm such a lazy punk! I'll be there w/ my twin-turbo evo!

Re: All Mitsu Cookout -- August 26, 2007 -- Rogers, MN

Hey everyone,

Only eleven days away now! We are up to 145 cars on the list. The current list is at:
http://www.mn3s.org/cookout-list.html

If you are planning on coming to the All Mitsu Cookout, here are a few things to remember:

1) Sign-up online. The page is at:
http://mn3s.org/lists/?p=subscribe&id=5

2) If you have Paypal, send me your $5 registration to cgendron@mail.com (no credit cards please)

3) Fill out your car sign ahead of time. Its saves a lot of time in the registration line. Download the sign at:
http://www.mn3s.org/car-sign.doc

And my example sign can be found here:
http://www.mn3s.org/car-sign-curt.doc

Once again, here are the classes for the show this year:

Best 90-94 DSM
Best 95-99 DSM
Best 00-05 Eclipse/Stratus coupe
Best 91-93 3/S
Best 94-99 3/S
Best Evo
Best Classic Mitsu (89 and older)
Best Other Mitsu
The "Gene Helms" Cleanest Car Overall

And finally, we are going to have a little fun competition this year. We are going to have a slow drags race. Two lines will be drawn in the parking lot. (40 feet apart) The objective will be to go from one line to the next as slowly as possible without stopping or hitting your brakes. Those with really soft clutch pedals will have good cars for this race. We'll probably do the slow drags around 2:30pm. So practice driving like a granny. ;)

Curt

I can't remember if I said I am coming or now, but I won't be in attendance this year since I'll be up north dominating at a pizza eating/beer drinking contest.

Looks good! Out of curiosity, did you have to get written permission from Mitsu before the trophy shop could use the logo?

Nope, the shop that made the decal for the trophy doesn't care. I don't think Mitsu would care, since no one is really making any kind of profit here. Besides, since I'm on a first name basis with the VP of Mitsubishi Motors of North America, I think I'll be safe. ;)

 Good one! We'll call it the Pete "special" award.

Its actually the long distance award. Should be interesting who gets it this year. I know a couple people from central Iowa coming, and someone from Northern Illinois. Not sure if anyone will beat that or not.

Those trophies look pretty sweet. I wish I could have my roof and bumpers painted by the time of the show so I could stand a chance of winning one, but that probably won't happen.

Just signed up twice, once for the talon and once for the galant. Does that mean I owe ya 10 bucks then?

Also, this will be my first one, so how does it work as far as food and everything. Does that entrance fee mean that myself and one friend get to eat all day, or whatever? Just curious.
