Wow thats freaking nuts man. Will you ever route that BOV back into the intake? Or are you going to leave it! Just think back to the day you rode with me.

Kracka 05-22-2007 12:40 AM

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

It was running very well with the BOV vented to atmosphere so unless that changes I won't be taking the time/money to route it back in.

Its actually running like shit right now b/c the ECU I got in trade is bad, but we're going to try another tomorrow; if that one doesn't work then my original EPROM will go back in. With my EPROM it was running 99% perfect even though the BOV was vented, it only stumbled once in two days of driving, I can live with that.

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

We tried another ECU in the car last night and it still ran like shit, so swapped the original EPROM back in and it runs great again.

LaZer fund = $12

That video was fucking sweet man. Props to you for that. Very well acted and directed. It was almost real looking. I was entertained, and the project is fucking sweet also.

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

do you know if the ecu was out of a correct model year? if it was from a 90 things are going to be screwed up.

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

The ecu was out of a '91. It came out of my old car.

Kracka 05-23-2007 06:31 PM

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

It is a '92 and we tried the ECU out of a 91 and 92 (both AWD). His car ('91 AWD) ran better on my ECU than it did on either of the others so who knows.

What happened to the one that was in the car when I sold it to you?

Sell the carpet or something from the trunk. Someone might need it?

It came as a package deal with the boost gauge and dual pod for $10. Right now its just filling a pod hole, not actually hooked up since they are annoying and do nothing but rave.

Its back in the car now. Since its EPROM I tried selling it for a regular ECU + $100.

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

Now that I think about it, You should haev gone with a 4" intake pipe.

Hrm, see if you can find someone that's willing to trade the stock injectors for 1000's, the stock ECU for an AEM, and the stock turbo setup for a 20G setup & you'll be in BIZNEZZ!

The one that was in the car was an EPROM?? I bought it with a non-eprom and my buddy fried it in his GSX so he bought me a different one and the seller said it was non-eprom. I swore I pulled the cover to make sure the caps werent leaking but if I would have done that I would have seen that it was an EPROM. Strange....

Anyway, dude in the classifieds has a rebuilt non-eprom he wants to trade for an eprom + cash. You probably already saw that though.

any more updates on the super spendy project.. i mean the s2k could have been boosted 10 fold for the price of this

Kracka 06-12-2007 12:10 AM

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

Scheides and I still need to do our scientific time testing post-MBC install, we'll try and do it after Applebee's tomorrow night! Other than that, I still have $12 in the fund so I should pick up some washers and bearings aka metal shifter bushings.

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

Why don't you buy a new cut-off wheel for your angle grinder (assuming you have one or have access to one) and lower your car. ;)

Kracka 06-12-2007 10:41 AM

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

That would minimize my snowbank domination abilities :)

FattyBoomBatty 06-12-2007 10:57 AM

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

That gives way to another great idea, buy a sheet of thin steel and make the bottom really smooth for the better drag coefficient.

Kracka 06-17-2007 10:48 AM

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

I sold the boost controller for $25 putting me at $88-25 = $63 total for my project. The car doesn't feel much slower w/o the MBC so I may just leave it and enjoy the extra cushion of safety in the name of reliability.

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

no way, you allotted $100, you gotta get some $37 exhaust!!!

Halon 06-17-2007 02:07 PM

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

Just drop the whole exhaust and jb weld a Cherry Bomb to the downpipe!

Kracka 08-28-2007 05:40 PM

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

I went and spent the remainder of my fund today on a 3" cast aluminum intake pipe with a BOV recirculation tube and also a larger turbo outlet elbow. I will try and sell my other 3" intake so I can have a few more $$$ to play with before winter comes.

Sold a stock part off for $20 shipped so I'll be adding another $15 to the fund!

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

So is that little mod list in your 1st post up to date as far as what you actually have so far?

Kracka 08-30-2007 10:02 AM

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

Updated list:

Southbend DXD clutch
OBX 30-0-30 boost gauge
Autometer A/F gauge
Carbon fiber dual gauge pod
K&N filter
Hacked 1G MAS with removed silencer

Larger diameter turbo outlet elbow

Kracka 08-30-2007 10:03 AM

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

I think I will buy another MBC since I sold my first one off for 2x what I paid for it.

FattyBoomBatty 08-30-2007 10:09 AM

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

take the 15 bucks, invest it in the stock market, get it out when you have like 200 bucks, lol.

Kracka 08-30-2007 10:13 AM

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

Another eBay MBC ordered for $10.94 shipped!

FattyBoomBatty 08-30-2007 10:41 AM

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

Nice. Can you get those $.99 short shifters like the honda kids can? They cost like 12 bucks total, after shipping.

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

I have an old Supra SMIC you could try jamming in there, but the amount of JB weld needed to fix it might put you over budget.

Halon 08-30-2007 01:35 PM

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

I have JB Weld ;) How did the DXD clutch fall in under the budget?

Kracka 08-30-2007 07:44 PM

Re: Laser's $100 Project Thread

The DXD clutch was on the car when I bought it, I think with about 7 miles on it :D
