No 4000 lbs is heavy, thus if it didn't slip on our dyno it sure as hell isn't slipping on the street ;) At least I hope so lol.

Re: 709whp from Modern Automotive Performance!

The car probably weighs no more than 2700lbs.

And it hopefully will be on slicks at the track!

I think the clutch slip thing was an issue on your dyno because we only did a few pulls. We were doing pulls every minute or so on our dyno, so the clutch kept heat and helped out.

Was it slipping on the last pull that it made 54x?

I agree, we will have to look into it further. We may take it out on the street and try some pulls to see if we can notice a difference in speed vs RPM.

Re: 709whp from Modern Automotive Performance!

I can pull up the mph/rpm but I think it slipped everytime, a lot up top and the car would stop pulling on the dyno. The car was missing up top also.

Yeah it was acting really weird up top, almost like a misfire. Likely based on the fact that we didn't tune for that RPM! lol

I think we may have figured out the source of that problem though, our Vibrant aluminum spark plug cover! Alex and Kyle both dynoed without them on and had good luck, and they put them on to head out to your place. Ever since then Kyle had issues and Alex did as well, until he removed the cover before his dyno runs...

Thats some nice numbers. But just a side note. How did the spark plug cover affect the engine? That comment you made is puzzling.

Re: 709whp from Modern Automotive Performance!

It was probably causing spark issues from either interference or arcing.

Metal spark plug covers are the devil, especially if you're running old Magnawhores. I had a set that arced through the side of the boot and they were almost new.

Electromagnetic Interference, also know as EMI.

Re: 709whp from Modern Automotive Performance!

It sounds like you found the small problem with the miss fire, I would guess the car would put down ~575ish with a good clean pull with the tune that was on the car, good job that is a lot of power.

I want to thank you guys for bringing that beast to the dyno day. It's not often that a group of people get to see a car like that on the dyno.

Re: 709whp from Modern Automotive Performance!

No problem dude, wish it would have performed better, but we did just get it together the night before! lol

How much do you guys charge for this set up, including labor? PM me if you like.

Still looking for my low mileage all stock 1gb talon to build.

Re: 709whp from Modern Automotive Performance!

Starting from scratch you are looking at around $13000 total.

Need to get the cage in, so possibly in a few weeks.

Nate seems to think that quote was low lol. I think it can be done though.

If I subtract the motor, turbo, etc...meh, I'll forget it.

Or wait til someone wants to get out and sells their $25K DSM for $8K. :)

You won't do that Steve. Get a look at that NSX?

I call dibs on your car Steve. $8k obo ;-) ?

$13k is low imo. A more realistic quote for 700whp would be $15k+ for parts/labor unless labor is free. ha ha.

Goat Blower 05-03-2007 02:28 PM

Re: 709whp from Modern Automotive Performance!

I wasn't talking about my car, although I've thought about it a few times. It definitely wouldn't be $8K. I've got that much in labor at $5/hr.

I've seen several top notch cars up for sale in the last five years, mostly on NABR. They usually sell for about 1/3 of what's in them.
