How big are you planning on going? Shane's is a 2.4, but he isn't up there with Rau and the like. Shep and Rau probably don't want to ditch all the development time they have into the 2.0.

We are aiming for 1000+ at the crank, lots of time and money going into this one...

I've always wondered why they don't go with the bigger displacement, but perhaps they know something we don't? The only high hp 2.4l block I am familiar with is Marco...

Chris

I asked Brent about that a few years back. He said trying something new is not a good thing when you've already got a reliable setup, which is everything when you're chasing a points championship every year. But then again, Marco is building his motors now, so you never know. :JD:

Been gone a couple days, but saw this... I must say, It's a nice car to be putting a piston engine in, let alone turn it into a drag-only car. If you do it, do it well, make it look pretty inside and out and there you be.

good luck. I will find my fd3s and have my way with it someday. lol.

Re: Our new project car has arrived...

Being that LSx FD's are my favorite cars in the world, I am going to have to say I will not allow anything ghetto to happen. Nor will Kyle or Alex.................Chris........maybe;)

I started out totally against a 4g6x in it, but I have come around. It won't be quite as reliable as a LSx, but it is Unique, and it should be extremely fast! It will also show off our fabrication skills much more than some near drop in motor ever would!

Should be a fun filled and and challenging season for us!

Throw a Mazda motor in it.

Re: Our new project car has arrived...

I would build up a 20b, then put the biggest turbo that will fit between the motor and shock mount. Then look into something like a Motec to tune the car.

I can dig the 4G in a FD, but why the full drag/auto route? We've seen it before, diversify!

Re: Our new project car has arrived...

Apparently the Mazda B2600 bell housing will work with the stock FD tranny and bolt up to the 4g63 wideblock lol. We are just going for fast and consistent!

Make it handle too; make it an all-purpose race car. Fast in a straight line and even faster with the wheels turned.

Re: Our new project car has arrived...

Yeah, people use rx7 transmissions sometimes in starquests. For that matter, if you are going wideblock, just give it the old g54b treatment. All the your torque you can handle.

No.

Twin Turbo 500 Cubic Inch LSX motor:)

Or I guess a 70plus MM turbo 4g63 will work..........but not as well.

 at all the engine's thrown into the mix. I just told Chris to throw a picture up of the progress and we get all sorts of people saying what we should do to it! haha! I think Chris should let out a few details of the "power plant" thoughts for the fdsm!

keep the 13b, There so light! Rx-7s are known for there perfect 50/50 weight distrib. dropping a v8 will only make it good for the straights unless fabricated behind the falcrom, and properly supported
