Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming

well I am now pissed off
all the parts that are missing made me mad but I can find them easy
but the big thing is I just got the motor down to the long block and it has crank walk it moves a good 1/4in. Call the co. up and talked to them and they are going to check there other front clip to see if it is good and see what there boss want to do to make it square with me. From what the guy said it looks like I will get a new clip for free.

Man, that is gay as hell. What company are you going through? You have sorta inspired me to do a RHD swap (240sx, get a Skyline front cut with the I6 2.0 is what I have in mind) and I dont want to deal with all that shit if I go through with it!

Well out here in Cleveland. Rallys has both left and right side drive-thru's. So if he wants fast food. Rally's out here can hook him up.

Oh and about the clip thing that sucks man. Hope they can square everthing out for ya.

That sucks about the crankwalk but I hope that you get a new one for free, that would be alot of cool spare parts!!! I really really want to see a video of you going through a drive-thru backwards!

Good luck getting the Skyline firewall to fit at all into the 240. and btw, the RB20 is a shit engine. If you're gonna do an RB swap, you'd be much better off with a RB25 or 26. And if you do go with the RB26, you'll need to find a 5 speed from an RB25. Anyways, Mark, I'll be giving you a call tomorrow. I can swing by and give you a hand if you need help with anything.

That's not really my cup of tea, but my hat is off to you for going out and getting into a swap that's not common. I can appreciate it for going out and doing something different. Good luck with your project.

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming

I am is talking to the importer about the motor. They are trying to say that evo motors dont crank walk. but they got a ton of pics of it and a video Itook of the crank moving. Other than that it has been slow I ripped tendins in my left hand so griping tools is hard right now.

At the moment I am finnishing up the weldind on the rad. surport and fixing the sterring hole problem (the boot does not fit) and will be painting the engine bay flat black

it's not to bad when all I have is parts into it and my time. I am keeping track on all the parts that go into it so I will have a total on it when it is done.

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming

Very nice looking.... Just a silly question...why did you paint the intercooler black?

TkrPerformance 10-31-2006 06:04 AM

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming

when I get the evo III kit for it people will think it is a ricer and with the black fmic it will be harder to tell what it is.

Halon 10-31-2006 08:10 AM

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming

Black FMIC's are the hotness. My buddies is black on his civic, and you'd look right at the car, and not even notice.

Gravy 11-01-2006 07:15 PM

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming

I hear all the time that the black doesn't help with the IC cooling, is this true or more ricer BS?

I know, if you coat the ever loving crap out of it, it's goign to affect the cooling, but a thin coat shouldn't be a problem.

Nice car, you'll have to bring it to a Aplebee's some week. I'll be damn sure to make it that week.

TkrPerformance 11-02-2006 07:09 PM

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming

the black is very thin on the fmic it will not harm the cooling of it.

I got some were today with the motor. They started to say it was rebuildable so I said ok whatever so I got price on new oem evo I crank 699.00 and all the other parts to fix the motor and mashine work and labor is a little over 2700.00 and I paid 2500 for the clip so they are going to pay me to fix it or send me a compleat evo III long block to replace the one I have. should know tomorrow about it.

DoughtCom 11-03-2006 02:15 PM

Re: the evo 3 swap parts are coming

When heatsink fins are flat black it can actually help with heat dissipation. At least in the computer world, I'm assuming thermal dynamics work the same in cars, heh. But yeah if you were to cake a bunch of spray paint on the intercooler I would assume that wouldn't be a good heat conductor anymore.
