So are we meeting anywhere yet?

Well, me, cher, and drew( boostin_dreams) are leaving my house by 7-ish. We will most likely see you all at the track.

Yea I went. Didn't race though. It was really hot and there were a lot of friggin hondas there. First time for me at rock falls but I'll say I like brainerd better!

Re: July 9th RF?

yes, we did. it was HOT! chris even showed up, but the car didn't start or run smoothly at all, so it was an unload, load car and leave kinda thing. i'll let cher, jake, tim, etc all tell their times, and what issues they had..

I went with a friend of mine with an SRT-4. he ran a 12.8@119. then broke his 3-4 shift fork. I got some pretty desent video of Nash, Cher and a few of Jakes first runs.

Re: July 9th RF?

Yeah we had some issues which we thought we had cleared up. Turns out it was a fuel issue, the ECU was cutting fuel at any RPM above 2000! For some reason the car thought it was idling at all times and would not let the car above 2000. I unchecked the IdleSW box in the DSMlink program and the car runs perfectly. Wish we could have figured it out at the track, but it was so damn hot, and I couldn't even read the damn computer screen in the blistering sun lol. I guess thats what we get for bringing a car to the track the day after we start it up! But the 29th is looking pretty doable ;)

Re: July 9th RF?

Well Sunday wasnt too good of a day. I ran a 13.9 @ 115 the first pass, 20psi, rolling out of the hole and pussy shifting down the track just to see where the car is at.

Decided to turn up the boost, what do you know, no traction of the launch, pop the clutch line shifting into second, didnt want to let the SRT-4 in the opposing lane be me, so I rev matched each gear the rest of the way down the track and still beat him with a 14.6 @ 100.

Fixed the clutch line, then the woman wanted to go for a ride, no traction again and still was having troubles shifting. Ran a 13.7 @ 114.

After that, got back in the staging lanes to run my last time trial, have no clue what happened, shut the car off and now it wont start. checked everything. So hopefully I can get it back up and running decent this week/ weekend so I can go the following and actually make a good pass.

We tried to get Mara's Talon going for RF, but it was maxing out the hacked 1G MAS on the dyno the night before and going lean, so we gave up.

well for me it really sucked ass. i ran a best of 16.106, i was only runing 14 psi. i was a little scared to run 16 or 17. i bent 2 sets of valves. hopefully on the 29th i can get back to the 15.5 that i ran before.

Get a used VPC, they're dirt cheap now.

Re: July 9th RF?

Car ran like shit. I dont think they used any VHT except once right before the eliminations.

First run was a shitty 11.19 @ 128. I ran one other pass that the car worked "right" which means nothing fell off it. My ignition still breaks up really bad between shifts. Im working on fixing that now. Funny thing is the boost was at ~30psi on these runs and it was at 25.5-26.5 when I last ran the car @ 11.10 @129. That tells how bad the ignition is breaking up. Two other runs I made had first the exhaust falling off, then the lower ic pipe blew off. Oh well :)

I also did run the car in the eliminations at wastegate pressure, missed 2nd gear and shifted slow... ran a 12.2 @ 118 I think. That was the only fun part of the day :)

I would rather run a 2G MAS or a speed density chip than a VPC. The VPC does too much ECU fooling.

Hey tim, I'd make that 2nd cylinder wire a bit longer, and also ground that coil setup better for next time. And, I'll be there again, so you may use my spark plug gapper ;)

It wasnt that, everything he had was working just fine... Clutch wire + AEM = no more spark break up. :)

Re: July 9th RF?

Yes I believe I fixed the ignition problems finally. First the Evo coils couldnt take it. Then it would break up the first half of each gear. I believe it was an EMS issue which I hope is now fixed... car hits each gear and pulls hard now.

Last two things to fix is the lower IC pipe so it quits blowing off and get the EMS or something to control the boost.

I think Trina will run the car a few times next time out. Need to get her into the mid 11s at least :)

Re: July 9th RF?

yea, get what I am running. It's a gm boost control solenoid. Plugs into the stock harness (atleast on a 1g) with a little rewiring, but it is basically a cheap electronic boost controller. Then, through AEM, you can control boost per gear, per mph, or whatever.

Yeah the GM boost control would be really cool, its just getting it setup that is the problem. There is like 8 tables that you have to calibrate to get it to work. Jet and I set one up awhile back and it took hours just to get it to hold boost and not overshoot the target boost, but then it wasn't climbing very fast. It was a pain in the ass. I am sure there is an easier way to do it now, but my guess it would take a lot of playing with it to get it right.

The nice thing about it would be that you can run different boost at different RPMs as well as a few other things.

Re: July 9th RF?

I heard its a complete pain in the ass but if I can get it to hold boost correctly I would be much happier :) Otherwise I might just try to swap wastegates to a smaller one and see if that makes it work. I dunno, the biggest thing is to get it to not breakup at all during the run. Just really pisses me off when I am faster at 25-26psi than I am at 30. I better at least gain 5 mph or so next time out.

Anyone goin on the 29th?

Where was LSE by the way??
