Re: A/C conversion..
well, the belt that drives the compressor is run off of the motor, and that's parasidic draw...
I have screwed in, and screwed out that biss screw, but I would hafta change it everytime I went to use the a/c to run higher idle, and then turn it back down when i turn off the a/c..it's a pain in the ass. I won't block it off, as I still run my ac, and will be running my ac. I guess I seem to be the only guy who will run a fast car, with all the creature comforts..I dunno if i will succeed, but I guess i'll die tryin... -A. Swift |
Re: A/C conversion..
I haven't removed the comforts either man. Shit I'm actually getting my front seats reupholstered in leather here soon, payed to convert my A/C, and still have Cruise Control. I too want a fast car, but comfortable. My car normally idles right around 1k. When I kick the AC on, it goes down to like 750. That's how I set it so I can still use A/C and it works just fine for me. Maybe if I was exrememly worried about gas milage or something then the 1k idle may bother me, but I'm not. It's my toy car, not my daily driver.

Re: A/C conversion..
If your idle goes up and down all the time you need a new IAC motor which controls the idle. If it only does it when its cold its your FIAV. Ussually the idle goes up a tad when the AC turns on because of the added load. Just set it to 1K and you should be fine either way- when its on or off.

Re: A/C conversion..
From what I have learned about r-12 is that its way exspensive for sure... (about $80 a pound) You also have to have a special permit to own it. I have the EPA lisence to work on a/c systems, and you even have to have that lisence to buy r-134a in bulk. You also should buy the stickers for your car that says you retro fitted your r-12 system to r-134a.

Re: A/C conversion..
Well, my cost it wa 23 bucks for r12, ans 2.34 a pound for r134..i converted i na hurry..all for under..10 bucks? Anyway, my rpms dont rev anymore..it's set around 900rpm idle, but with the a/c on..the car is very sluggish to accelerate, and when the clutch goes in, it would die on me..so i dunno what else. I still gotta tune this damn thing, as I am getting about 158-173 miles to a tank..it is rather bad..anyone know tmo datalogging, safc, and maft tuning?
