I already have a wideband AND a logger. It's would just delay further HP boosting mods. But saving weight is like modding everything at once, just very slightly.

How about a SAFC or a Maft so you can use the logger and wideband?

Its only a matter of time before the hood and trunklid become next on the weight redux.

CF hood :)
I would like one on the SRT with a CF lid, but on a black car, I think they look great un painted.
Just my opinon.

It is quite aparent that some people on this board are very single-minded. Like Ryan said, dropping weight is like everything overall getting a slight boost. The car will handle better, accelerate quicker, and put less strain on the drivetrain. A good racecar or streetcar has to be well rounded, it can't just have tons of go-fast parts tossed on it. Think of it like this...the olympic runners do a lot more than just run to train, they also swim, bike, lift weights, etc.

I say go for it if it's what you want.

I for one think it will go with the car well.

The main reason I like weight reduction is the less strain on the drivetrain components. I don't want to be breaking hard parts when I launch!

You cant even comprehend the weight difference until you have held one. My buddy has a turbo civic and his carbon fiber hood just stays up when he lifts it, without a hood prop. It is that light that it can just sit on the hinges, which are the same as dsm hinges. Weight loss ( in racing) is always beneficial.

if i had a chance for a cheap CF hood i would definetely get it..

If I had the $$$ I've always wanted to buy one of Brents 1 Piece Fiberglass fronts.

And SquidSkins
-door
-hatch

With lexan.

But that's about $2,000

MustGoFaster 08-19-2004 05:12 PM

I never said anything about cheap. Although it would be a group buy price. As far as I can find, there is only one place that is making them. And only 4 or 5 people in the USA have them so far.

I am with the idea of weight reduction but am not a fan of paying good money for it. In my talon, I have no AC, PS, emissons, ABS removed, and a bunch of other misc stuff including moving the battery to the trunk. Even the laser has all the weight reduction above minus the power steering and batt relocation. I would rather spend the money on performance upgrades than dropping ~20 pounds. I do not see a great bang for the buck in a CF hood as far as performance is concerned. If you like it for looks, get it. I hope you don't get stuck with the horible fitting one that looks like shit.
