I noticed on my way home that just about every 5 miles or so there was a State Trooper on the side of the highway.

Which was very weird. - they are definetly trying to earn a few extra bucks this month.

tpunx99GSX 07-13-2004 01:07 PM

welcome to one of the many reasons i left that state. wow, can you guess how many times ive been pulled over down there in CA. oh yeah baby a big fat 0 times. well one reason is the 50 mph city streets, woo hoo.
sorry to hear about that brian, but all in all fight the ticket, why give the nazis more money to fund their cause.

JiN 07-13-2004 01:14 PM

Ya know what Barton, I got pulled over for the same shit. And I was at idle. He just saw my car was modified and pulled me. I argued like hell about it with him. Cuz he never actually heard my exhaust. He said to me that the muffler had to blend it with the engine or something like that. That were his exact words. Or something like that. WTF? Your a cop, trying to citate me, and you dont even know the law. Bite my bag!

Please shut the fuck up. You've hardly been down there a month. You most likely fit in with all the other dumbasses down there so they cops don't think of it being anything out of the ordinary.

Sticky Rice 07-13-2004 01:31 PM

dont it say right on the order of parts or in the apexi handbook if any that its state leagal? I thought it was..

SlowWhite 07-13-2004 01:33 PM

that whole "blend" thing was what he ment when he said "flow" with the rest of the car at first I didn't get it until I read the statue stating it must blend with the rest of the car noise.

Anyrate I'm going to take this one to court - I'm also going to print out exactly what the Apexi site says along with there website.

Hopefully at a quick glance which is all it would be it should read as if this muffler although big actually helps quiet the sound by 7db's.

I'm still going to tell the story as it happened. But like you said at least I'll be able to say I tried. And at least I'll get a chance to argue a point that alot of us I'm sure would like to be heard.

yes i do blend in. now you stfu, its always better to blend in dumbass, thats why i dont get pulled over.

JDM 07-13-2004 01:50 PM

All valid points. I think that sucks Brian. It's BS, and no good cop would waste his time on that...

UNLESS...

There is some pain in the ass neighbor who complains about a "street racer" who drives to work everyday at 100 mph, and pisses him or her off. SO then the Police have an obligation to the public to do something...

You were made an example. it sucks. You could fight it, if you're exhaust has the FED spec or DOT approved stamp, or you can prove that it is.

And what city/department stopped you?? City Ordinances are gay, as they change city to city, so in essence, you could get stopped for essentially the same thing 5 times in 5 different cities, and have 5 different violations. Gay.

Very Gay.

Sorry this all had to happen to you.

JasonR 07-13-2004 02:10 PM

If I got unlucky and pulled over I will just make my car stricly drag, show, and aut cross race car. Everyone has 3-4" tip on imports and even the muscle cars have louder exhaust. I think you were randomly picked and I would fight it. Cops dont no anything about are generation and car technology. Aftermarket is billion dollar industry and are cars are far superior to theirs when modded. They walk a fine line of public opinion and cross it too often and they are underpayed. I respect and srongly against street racing, but your ticket is wrong. That situation is :bs:

The city was Minneapolis - (I had just come from Elite)

And was sitting at the light waiting to go onto 94E

IllZ - I don't get that last post?
very high flow, quiet, deep tone muffler. solve your problem

IndiEP 07-13-2004 03:23 PM

You need to bring up the decible issue for sure, the cop had NO way to give an accurate reading, especially when he was DRIVING twords you. Thats just dumb that the state has not specified a dB limit, but then again they'd be losing money if people could prove their innocense. This just pisses me off, what about the red neck trucks w/straight pipes!? I have to cover my ear when those things go by.

Emcee gsxtc 07-13-2004 03:58 PM

See in Owatonna the cops know that we research the laws, so as soon as they pull us over we have our reasons lined up. I was in the pass seat of my friends srt4 and kept telling the cop that it is stock parts and he wrote out the ticket but then ripped it up so he wouldnt get in trouble.

When they pulled me over for exhaust I asked if the cop wanted to see my CARB # for my 50 state street legal exhaust. He was so confused. I took the time to tell him that I didnt want to break the law and made sure my exhaust was legal. I said that it is a full aftermarket peice that bolt on AFTER the cat. I then told him I would never spend $800 to have illegal parts on my car. Well I didnt pay that much, and I do spend more then that on parts, BUT the cop was so confused he just told me to to tone it down in residential areas.

SlowWhite 07-13-2004 04:58 PM

I was so dumb founded when the cop explained what was going on. I was speechless. I couldn't even find the words to descibe my thoughts.

And your right on about them not making any money if we could prove our innocents that's how almost every law that's ever been writen. Is being taken out of context IMO.

I just hate out our past generations haven't done anything to fix these issues. The procute of Money has messed up everything IMO. No one cares about nothing but the $$$ these days.

And those that do are far and few between.

niterydr 07-13-2004 09:14 PM

funny, the stealth with the gutted kittys was LOUDER than most 1g's with just exhaust on it.
Im not following you, this was in your eclipse right?
I'll tell you why you got pulled over.
2 toned interior, 5" tip, blingin rims, body kit....not saying its right, its just reason.
if in jenny's car:
gauges on a-pillar, 4" tip, etc..
the cops aren't 'profiling' they are just getting educated.
Hince why stock looking exhaust is good.
I would fight it, and you can probably get out of it, gl.

You're screwed.

FattyBoomBatty 07-14-2004 12:04 AM

ithink it';s bogus, you still haev stock catalytic converters right? if not, too bad for you, but if you do, you can totally argue the ticket. a stock cat. car is quiet even with no mufflers cause the cat(s) act as mufflers. also your turbo. that's a retarded claim on the cops part.

and to top it off the motorcylcse right next tio you.

Halon 07-14-2004 01:45 AM

To the guy who hasn't gotten pulled over in CA yet. You're time will come. You wanna talk about a state that is strict on modded cars. You'll love it especially when it comes time to test emissions. Hope you're car looks completely stock. They are exrememly schooled up at the shops there. My buddy failed because he had an EVO 16g on his 1g, a Greddy BOV, and and upper IC pipe. So he borrowed all my stock shit so he could pass, yet he still failed because he had my crushed and polished 1g bov on there. I'd rather have a ticket for "illegal exhaust" then have no plates on my car because I have a different blow off valve. Enjoy your new home. Diego is nice for sure, but if one of your many reasons to leave MN was because of stupid laws, then you have chosen poorly on which state to move into.

vapour24 07-14-2004 02:25 AM

that sucks what happend man

i duno hopefully this will cheer you up but:
i got 'pulled' over by the valleyfair police tonight for speeding when these kids kept messing with me infront of me in a ford probe (ie; they would stop randomly and flick me off and then go and do it again so i figured i would speed by them to stop this since i did have other people in the car), well the secruity guard pulled me over and he asked what i was doing, i told him what happend and automaticly he cuts me off and says 'dont give me that crap' i almost just took off on him.. he was only a VALLEYFAIR secruity guard wtf is he gana do keep me from going on the power tower? he probley could get police involved though, but i guess he knows what since hes surposedly seen skulls on peoples windsheilds for speeding in the valleyfair parking lot  :censored: :stick:

anyways, thats wrong what happend, i wouldve been speechless too becuase of the thoughts going through my head over somthing so dumb

SlowWhite 07-14-2004 08:34 AM

It was in my 2G Eclipse. Jenny's car still has stock Exhaust.

Regardless I'm going to go down and contest the ticket. worste comes to worste... hey I pay the fine. But at least I tried.
