So you honestly think a 3200lb 2 seater that is RWD is a good winter car? I was just saying its a bad winter vehicle because it is. Even with snow tires it will suck. Traction control isn't gods gift to man. When Knoxville had to drive his g8 in the snow we couldn't get up hills, slid everywhere and traction control just cut power...his car was a 4000 lb sled that was worthless in 2in of snow. The corvette would be exponentially worse. Could you drive it, sure, would I, no. I am simply saying its impractical in MN. Quote:

Re: daily driving fun cars
While I drive my fun car most of the time when it's not in storage, I also only have a 2 mile commute so it's not a chore to drive to work. I would consider the fun car my DD for 2/3 of the year, and the escort my DD in winter. Works for me, I was never really worried about the CTS-V, Corvette, and now the Lotus for reliability, but they are much newer cars than my DSM.
I agree with Murlo on the vette not being a year round vehicle. I had blizzaks on the Cadillac and that thing sucked to drive if there was snow on the road, I imagine the Vette would be worse. I stored the Cadillac the next winter and sold the snow tires. |

I'd have to agree with Paul, I'd love a G35x or G37x as a DD. Hell part of me still wants to build a G35x coupe GTR killer :D

Re: daily driving fun cars
Today i drove it to work and well the drive in was ok, but drive home was boring all I could do was look at the C6 z06 and 600 rocket.
I guess a good daily would have enough getup to change lanes and merge into moving traffic but being comfy. DSM is comfy though, I guess I'll just drive it when I know I'll go somewhere straight from work or something. I did get to watch 1 accident and a couple of incidents where people almost got rear ended, makes me feel better about having a beater car for dd duties. |
