Ok so I got my head back from the head shop today. It's got ferrea springs and retainers, ferrea competition plus +1mm valves, it was ported and polished and port matched to the manifolds. I just need a head gasket and a few other things then I can start putting her back together. Here are some pics.

Thanks! And yeah assuming I don't run into any major complications like I did this summer it will see the track at least once :-)

Thanks! I'm pretty hell bent on getting this to the track at least once next year. I have no idea what kind of times I'd be able to run or how the t-case or rear diff will hold up but we'll give her hell anyways :-). If the car breaks again I better be at the track when it happens lol

You'll have to post up when you go!

You doing any other upgrades to it?

Yeah ill def post up when I go. I'd like to go when there's a few people from here going to.

As for upgrades the biggest addition will probably be the porting and polishing of the head. The block is completely different but I don't know if i would consider it an up grade. I did add a girdle to the block though. I'm toying with the idea of a different turbo. I'd really like a gtx 4294 or 4202 but idk if I want to spend 3k on a turbo lol otherwise it's going to basically be the same setup

Re: my new project

Here's a little update. Works been slow so it kind of put me on hold for gettng parts but I finally was able to order a headgasket so once that gets here I can start putting things back together. Then I just need a clutch rebuild kit and I'm going to get an upgraded clutch fork and miscellaneous gaskets, fluids, etc. to get her installed.

I also think i got my turbo situation figured out. I can't justify spending what it will cost to fix my current turbo so right now I'm planning on going with a 67mm borg warner s400sx

Nice choice with BW, welcome to the dark side. That turbo sounds massive.

Yup! Thanks for the heads up on bw I never would have thought about them. As for the turbo its the comp and turbine housings are the same as the 4294 I have now so my intake and exhaust will work with no modifications. The comp well is actually a little smaller but it outflows the 4294. Plus it's very reasonably priced! Not sure what a/r on the turbine housing I want to go with yet though

Re: my new project

The BW appears to be more durable but that's about it, otherwise slower spool and less power.

So this will be on the road come spring?

Idk about slower spool or less power. It's essentially one of bws versions of a gt42. All the info I can find on the turbo it seems to be a pretty wicked turbo. If you have any actual info on this not being a good option for me I would like to see it. I haven't purchased anything yet so am still open to options

Re: my new project

It's a fantastic option, I'm at work so i can't find the video, but sound performance tested a BW S3xx against the 6266 and the 6266 made more power, but the BW spooled up better.

On evom the supporters of BW stuff agree that the spool and transient boost with the BW turbo is superior to PTE but in sacrifice for max power.

I'd say get the BW stuff and not have any doubt about the turbo eating its face, worth the 30-40whp you might give up.

I'm just not a fanboy of it as I haven't seen anything but market hype for the ETT and EFR stuff.

Okay I gotcha. Yeah i like the pte stuff but their versions of the gt42 are 3k and their other turbos I'd have to have a new intake and exhaust fabricated. The BW is 1400 and seems to out perform the Garrett I have now. The BW just seems to be the best compromise of performance and price. Oh and yes it will definitely be on the road come spring time!

Heads up that the turbine housing are massive. I went with .91 divided t4 I think. Don't let the number deceive you, its just a ratio. Id bet if you put my .91 BW housing next to a larger number pte/garrett housing, you will see how much larger it is.
