Gosh charged me around $780 to do a complete shortblock last fall. This included all cleaning, machining, balancing and complete assembly to my specs and tolerances.

;)

Thank you celica, I pm'd him, just waiting for a reply now. But I have a bad shortblock with rod knock. If I can rebuild it for less then the price of a shortblock then that would be a way better option. What do you guys suggest for a build that will handle 400 max? Im thinking 2g piston 1g rod combo if Im not looking for something too special or expensive.

Yes but where are all these stock motors??? I cannot find one ANYWHERE. And with my luck Ill get it from some fuckhead who sells me a bad motor. Cant trust it too much until I see the compression numbers.

With the seemingly abundance of 'junk' engines out there, and the availability of inexpensive after-market pistons and rods, I cannot see forking out a grand for a running 6-bolt (or whatever they are selling for now), when you can have a solid product without the guesswork.

I would love not to have to pay over a grand for a motor alone. I just have to find a stock one that is good and I will be more than happy at this point

I had advertised the 2.4 built shortblock that used to be in my car, but decided to use that myself instead with a 2G head. The motor coming out is a 6-bolt, 2G piston, 1G rod motor I built last year with a brand new Mitsu head with just the casting flash cleaned up. That's still in the car, hence the reason I haven't offered it up here yet, I'm not sure how long it will be until it's out of the car. I need to get my Lotus up and running first, although that's pretty much done now. I suppose I should go get the GSX and pull that motor since proving grounds is coming up soon.

Maybe I did offer up the engine in the car, I can't remember.

Aaron the $800 dollar quote seems right mines just a little more since it had to be bored over but $800 is about what I'm expecting to pay gosh just for the machine work and assembly.

Re: Wtb running 4G63t

I wanna say I spent around that $750-800 range for machine work and assembly from Gosh for my last motor as well. That was I think in the fall/winter of 2010? So about a year and a half ago? Although getting him to assemble it was kind of a pain in the ass, he told me he hates assembling motors for people.

Re: Wtb running 4G63t

Haha. Shane said the same thing which is weird cause I asked once and he said sure since everything would already be there. He's just doing the rotating assembly though.
