Well look on the bright side of things, today some Saudi ambassador requested that OPEC choose to increase production when they meet sometime in the near future. Crude oil prices went down today because of that so hopefully, gas prices will slowly start dropping, hopefully.

I live in Spokane Washington and the prices are $2.19 for the lowest and $2.42 for the premium. What a drag considering my work is 13 miles away. On the up side though, my car gets 24-27mpg in the city so I don't pay too much for gas.

From the first page, a monopoly (OPEC) does control the price of gas. They can cut production to increase the demand. With an increase in demand comes an increase in the price level to sustain the new market equilibrium.

Gas prices don't bother me at all. Gas eats up such a small amount of my budget it doesn't even matter. I think it is funny when people drive around thinking that a 5 cent difference per gallon actually means something. WOW, that saves 60 cents on the price of a fill up!!! I just don't see how people can bitch about the prices of gas rising. If you owned a business and you could raise the price and make more money, you would too.

i spend about $70/week for gas.. thats $280/month.. minimum... that is a pretty nice toy every month, or a nice loan payment too...

i think tomorrow i'm gonna get some toulene and mix that with either 87 or 90, that might make the total amount for gas cheaper, and still more octane than the 91 premium here, haven't decided though, heard that its not the greatest on the rubber parts of fuel lines.

Where do all you people go that are spending close to 100 dollars a week on gas? I drive from and to work a total of 35 miles every day and I still get one fill up per week ~25 bucks a fill??

I dont know about you guys but you must be taking some nice road trips to drive so much per week. 70 bucks per week is like 1000 miles a week for me. Unless your driving a gas guzzler how can you drive that much per week?

Well, I'll use us as an example. My work is 30 miles....one way. Then AJ has to drive over to St. Paul which is about 20-25 miles from my work. We are now up to 50-55 miles....one way. That's over 100 miles a day we drive.

The majority of us don't live at home with mom and dad, and actually have to commute a fair distance to work.

Don't really understand what the fuss is all about, it is still cheaper than a gallon of bottled water.

DSMchick is right, to get to downtown (where i work) it's about a 28 mile drive, so round trip that is 56 miles, my dsm gets about 23 mpg avg, so thats 2 gallons of gas, which is almost 5 buckx just to get to work and back, now... i usually go out to AV everynight to see whats happenin' or hit up starbucks/barnes and nobles and then i put on another 40 miles a night. so... thats about 100 miles a day, which is about 4.5 gallons of gas = 11.3 bux. 5 days of that would be about 55 bux. 2 days of going out to downtown to go hang out with the crew or race, thats about 80 miles of drivin' that one night. so 160 for fri and saturday = 17 bux for gas on the weekend. one week = 17+ 55 = 72 dollars a week just of freakin gas!!!!!!!! or 288 dollars a month on gas!!!! my god. im gonna go shoot myself

Umm... Like I said I live in bloomington and work in Minneapolis.. I go to work everyday :stick: Thats a pretty nice chunk of driving. Not close to what you guys drive I guess...

Wow, you should consider yourself lucky to live in Bloomington and work in Minneapolis. You will be able to take the light rail and not have to worry about gas pricesd or the cost of parking either.

I pretty sure they have park and rides for the rest of the 'burbs as well.

He said a gallon of "Bottled" water, not a gallon of water. Water is what, $1... per little bottle. Sure you can go to the grocery store and buy a gallon of water, but most people that drink bottled water are ones that like the convenience of just buying what they need, when they need it.

I've never got the craze of bottled water anyways.

Here they sell Sparklets water. Its 25 cents for a little baby 12oz bottle, 50 cents for like a regular bottle, 60 cents for a liter, and 70 cents for the gallon. It's all in a bottle. Just some bottles are bigger. Prices prolly differ here im guessing.

gas prices go up every year for memorial day, they just get a bit higher each time. the problem is a bit exacerbated by the war, but they will drop back down again

OPEC does not control the price of gas, even if it did, only 42.8%(as of late 2003) of our oil comes from OPEC.The government and the transportation companies profit more than OPEC does.OPEC has very little to do with gas prices, other than the fact far too many people incorrectly think OPEC controls prices, therefore prices fluctuate when OPEC makes statements.If you want to point the finger, point it at our government, usually their tax profit on oil is at least(if not more) than OPEC itself profits off oil.And OPEC is the one doing the work, our government just sits back and collects $$$.
