Re: Proving Grounds 2011 feedback?
A centralized information nexus would be key. This would facilitate solutions to several issues:
1. With the wind, it is very very hard to hear the announcer call your class to staging lanes -even harder if you are over watching an event such as drift. 2. An updated schedule should be maintained via a simple web page and also displayed at the aforementioned information booth. I saw a whole mess of cars leaving for breakfast not 5 minutes before the announcement that the drag time table had been moved up. This could cause issues. 3. Sinage. A few signs to point towards tech, autoX and info booth would be of great benefit. Plus they can be reused for years to come. 4. Suggested addition: mobile dyno. Just a thought... 5. Obviously faster tech. Sitting in like for a few hours was confusing at best. 6. The guys that ran autoX were amazing. I've never seen an event go off so efficiently. Please invite them back next year. 7. I really enjoyed racing heads up VS bracket. However, there might be a need for a bracket field as well. 8. I actually don't mind the drag announcer... I enjoy the old school folksy of it all. I think that with the plethora of top fuel cars that see that track, he's just keeping it real. Anyway, that's all I got. |

Also to note, that white one ran no better than 10s from what I saw all day on Saturday, then bust an 8.9 out of nowhere on Sunday. Who sandbags at an event like this? lol |

Re: Proving Grounds 2011 feedback?
Either no announcer or a half-decent one. He's annoying at every event, not just the MAP one. On the plus side, this time I managed to tune him out and didn't even notice him most of the time.
Figure out how to get some really fast cars there. Some signs to know where to go and what is where. More loud awesome rotarys and less loud irritating Honduhs. For whatever reason, it seemed like there was a lot of down time even with tons of cars waiting to get on the track. |

As well as explain, not make excuses, but let you know we've got some of these covered already. Upcoming events like the Powercruise, our sponsors, and everyone that is at BIR during an event like this is a necessity to the event, and well as to BIR. Powercruise gave us prizes to giveaway, you may not care about that personally, but others do. BIR sees every event they have up there as an opportunity to promote another. Without this marketing, the track would lose money, and then where would we race? Learn to appreciate these guys, without them, there is no track, or event to go to. Tech is something that shouldn't have been an issue. BIR had scheduling issues with tech personnel. I know, it sucked, but next year we'll be good. Security was stressed, we had a few too many issues sat night. We have a plan for that already in the works! This year our attendance was enough that we will look to have the track just to ourselves! Hope that answers a few things for you guys. We really do appreciate all the feedback, keep it coming! |

Less loud, obnoxious rotaries and less Honduhs. I mean really!! Do they think they own this event or what? My God! lol
That's really all I have.. |

the white car ran two 9.0 runs and a 9.10 on friday and ran a 8.90 and 9.0 on saturday. Please explain how that is sandbagging? His times have been getting better and better. last year I think his best time was a 9.40 on the setup ... and the white one has no muffler... basically straight 5" dump off the turbo hoping next yr I have time to join them |
Re: Proving Grounds 2011 feedback?

And the turbo is effectively a muffler, which explains why that one makes at least tolerable noise levels. I guess I misread one of the times (probably the 9.10) as a 10.x, my bad. I was doing my best to ignore their cars. In the end, I'd have zero issues with that group if they'd leave the brown car and the noisy pit bikes/atvs/etc at home and make normal amounts of noise like everyone else. And that's coming from the loudest person on MitsuStyle. |

the brown car is loud, but not 'that' loud. If your car can't stay running because of the noise, I would say that is more your problem than theirs. Sure it isn't the fastest thing out there, but for the money into it, they have fun with it and it runs decent times. And good for you, you have a fast DD. MY evo is probably faster than it was well <- just don't see how that matters much. They go to the track for a good time. I say lighten up a bit and have a good time too |
Re: Proving Grounds 2011 feedback?
Goto a domestic day with fast cars, there are much louder cars...

K, just needed some clarification :)

Re: Proving Grounds 2011 feedback?
I personally didn't hear a car that was loud all weekend. But then I go to track days all the time. This weekend was tame, and quiet compared to nationals, or even the show and shine.
Cars are supposed to be loud imo lol. |
