manually put the tranny in first with out the cables hooked up hook the cable up and see where your shifter is ... if the cable wont hook up or let you out its the bracket for wrong year you might need to bend it the way you need it and check reverse too that is the longest shift for the cables you could have gotten 1g cables possibly witch are different?

reverse works it is just 1. thanks man i will try that. Could it be the tranny that is junk

Yeah tranny could be junk. Pull it out and have it inspected.

will i dont want to pull it out i will just get a new one any other ideas that people have at all i am thinking that it is junk.

Interesting I have a similiar problem, except for mine is good 1-4 ha no reverse or 5 th. . .I'm almost positive you can only mount that bracket one way. . .when people say bend the bracket bend it how?
