Do you plan on upgrading the stock turbo some day or just having fun with it as is?

Typically people will just upgrade the downpipe completely instead of an outlet. The dual scroll design means that the "o2 housing" is huge and a giant mess of exhaust area.

This reminds me I need to update my thread, maybe tonight when its on the road finally.

MKIII Supra's CT-26 turbo is different than the 3SGTE's CT-26. The downpipe flange are different and the 3SGTE have twin entry wastegate flapper instead of one flapper.

My plans are just basic bolt ons(intake, intercooler, exhaust, downpipe, etc..). Maybe some cams in fall or next winter. As for turbo, still undecided. I will definitely be using this CT-26 this summer. Maybe as big as a GT35r but that'll be in a year or 2. I wish there was an affordable simple tuning system link how we have ECMlink for our DSM.

A used AEM ems would be a good deal. And you can make any version work as long as it's from a 4 banger and you get the harness. :)

There is actually a PNP version. I've tuned on on a MR2 and one on an AllTrac (same box if memory serves correct)

Re: MR2 in the making

A little update. I got a few layers of white primer on the front bumper but need to go buy more primer. Found a cheap set of euro lights. Will be picking up a wideband this week and solid side moldings next week. In a few weeks I'll be ordering my OEM parts and I should be able to install the bumper and tail lights. I also got some of the side moldings pained. Just need to paint the passenger side vent and door moldings.

Euro signals. Thinking about getting some amber LED for the clear part.

I run a chipped honda ECU on mine. $150 engine management baby. I did a write up on it over on mr2oc a few years ago.

Got some of the OEM parts in today. L brackets came with it so I was ready to install the kouki tail lights.

Bumper put on to just test fit. Need to buy the solid molding and wait for the license plate bracket to come in.

The hose couplers that came with the intercooler kit weren't the correct size. I'm guessing that's the cause of it to not stay idling. I will be ordering a 1 piece Berk Tech cold pipe to replace the 2 piece. That'll be 1 less coupler and 2 t bolt clamp to worry about.

It's been a while since I've touched this thread. Here's 2 photos from October before the MR2 sat in the garage.

Picked up some OEM side vents. Much more cleaner looking than before.

Car looks really clean. Love MR2's. Are the side vents actually pretty efficient in allowing air to get to the intercooler?

Looking good, going the megasquirt setup with the custom crank pickup?

Picked up some top feed FIC 1150cc injectors for a steal. I'll be using a Camry fuel rail since the Mr2's uses side feed style.

You should still be able to use the sensors in the distributor instead of going with a custom crank setup. It should be a VR sensor type which MS can pick up.

There should be like 3 sensors in the distributor if memory serves me.

24 or 36 tooth - i can't remember how many tooth there is but it is there
4 tooth
1 TDC tooth

Just take apart the distributor to see what wires feed what.

You can tap into one or two of those. I recommend using the TDC tooth for one input and one of the multi tooth input for the other. You should be able to pick the wires up by the stock ECU if you have a pin out chart.

I helped out on putting a 20v in a mr2 MKI and went with the custom crank setup tooth wheel.

I wish we went with the distributor! it would have made our lives a lot easier. The multi tooth wheel by the crank looses signal. I blame the bracket that the hall sensor sits on. Need to better engineer that. after that it will work just fine.

However it would have been MUCH easier to tap into the distributor instead.

PS later down the road you don't even need to use the distributor for your ignition! You would be using it like a cam sensor instead.

the 20V is running a DSM coil pack controlled by the MS2. Works VERY well and is an ignition upgrade compare to what was there.

the 20v 4age and the 3sgte are not all that different. both have cylinder heads from YAMAHA
