Woooo love this crazy ass snow! This is how I remember the 90s up at the cabin. Epic snow storm!

Woke up this morning and was going to take ninas car to get remote start install in burnsville, yea cancelled that. haha

Had to go to my rents for my neice birthday party but we also had to move ninas car downtown because of the snow emergency... Pain in the assss.

So we decided to just take that to my rents.

How I found it.. Dug the front out a little and the sides, then peeled out to the left and just kept going down the street, blew a stop sign drifted it to hennepin and on to the next pic. haha.

Bombin around dtown after getting it free from my side road.
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...58_45100_n.jpg

After prolly the scariest ride ever in a car, we made it to my rents in bloomington. 35w wasnt too bad but the wipers were icing up badly and no one had their lights on, idiots. The exit ramps were all not plowed, and we got off on our exit at about 50-60 because I had to make it up the hill, that I couldnt even see. Drifted that intersection and plowed a foot of snow all the way to my rents. Woo FWD owns! NOT.

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._1578241_n.jpg

Plowed my rents driveway then went to my grandparents via volvo suv with snow tires. Dont go in alleys that arent plowed, my dad didnt go fast enough and we bottomed out on a slight incline to the alley. Good times!

Finally done digging out the grandparents driveway. Heres nina almost covered with a wall of snow. haha

Woo snow!

I'm not sure if the X's traction control was helping or harming. I'm just glad I got home with my six pack. lol.

Got up at 7am and went to work. Came home at 5pm to 3 feet of snow in my driveway.

One of my neighbors was nice enough to snowblow half my driveway so my ol' lady could get her car off the street. I really wish I knew who it was.

2 more hours of shoveling and it was done

My brother used his ATV to clear out the driveway at about noon yesterday and we spent another hour and a half clearing out the rest of the snow once it stopped and they plowed the street. It's hard to say exactly how much we got here because of the wind, but some drifts in my yard are over 3 feet deep.

I had a good time pulling a magnum out of a snow drift in front of my house yesterday. My Cherokee with 4.5" of lift does pretty well for having nearly completely worn all terrain tires.

I wanted to go to the grocery store, didn't even shovel the end of my driveway, just got some speed going down my driveway and rammed through the snow. That was fun. My hitch was completely packed solid with snow, pretty funny.

That'd be fun with some fresh tires.

Yeah, I even have some nearly new snow tires on stock wheels... too bad they were in new brighton and there was no way I was making it up there from bloomington.

I had no fear plowing through drifts, with ZJ V8 steering linkage, diff bash guard, super heavy duty IRO double shear track bar, and a front hitch to reinforce everything :)

the explorer never gets stuck. i love it. we left at 3:00 to go to a wedding at 5pm in st paul. My parents came down from big fork early saturday morning. When we left for the wedding we just took our time a bit, and saw lots of people stuck. Took 94 through Minneapolis, then to st paul, the 10th street exit looked as if it were competely missing, basically just ran through a bunch of snowbanks on the exit, made it no problem, none of the streets in St Paul were plowed, but that didnt stop the exploder. On cedar st someone got out and pushed them out. then made it to the wedding. In front of the building there was a Semi truck stuck that was hauling gas, as well as a bus. hahah. They had to come plow them out. On the way out of there i had to get out and push 3 people out. (one guy i pushed 3 times and he kept getting stuck, i was going to push him a forth time but decided to take another street instead, haha. poor guy.

For you guys who were smart enough to stay indoors:

Except for getting stuck right off the bat, the Talon did pretty well considering it was plowing in many spots. Worst snow storm I've ever driven in.

Preferrably though, I'd like a subaru or something that is real AWD, but jacked up with a skid plate along the entire underside. So if you hit a big pile of snow, you just slide right over it.

I didnt have any trouble at all in my dodge with 33"x12.50 tires 2wd is a no go with big tires, but 4x4 is a whole different animal. I let my gf drive this for safety reasons lol. My jimmy on the other hand, while i didnt get stuck my 4x4 isnt working the greatest as it seems the previous owner put a few different size tires on the front so the transfer case binds on it self :KANE: :guns:

In the big scheme of things it doesn't make sense for me to buy an suv/crossover for a handful of snow days each year. I'd have to park the fucker all year long...major pita given where I live (tight parking ramp).

I still want one. I suck at being practical.

My IX used to dominate with snow tires even when dropped on S.Techs.

This wasn't the typical 6" dusting. I didn't get stuck but the Evo didn't dominate anything, snow tires and all. The drifts that the big trucks would make can't be gotten through without momentum...and you have to stop at stop lights.

Re: I *heart* snow

I think its funny that everyone with evos or subis with snow tires thinks they cant get stuck. Sure if you stay on the beaten trail you wont get stuck but venture into some deeper chunkier packed 15"+ stuff and you will get stuck. :) And you will probably rip off your under trays doing so.

A 4x4 truck with good tires is the best bet due to its lift. Anything that drags in the snow or gets its underbody on top of the snow is going to get stuck.

Re: I *heart* snow

My 2005 Tahoe with Goodyear Ultra Grip SUV tires would be hard to get stuck, I agree on the clearance part, the AWD DSM's tear through snow until they get hung up. Plus you constantly have to clean the front or you will over heat.

Having a Posi Rear end and a good LSD in the front helps a ton in that crap, no two wheel peel in 4wd for me. I was plowing snow up to the grill and it didn't even spin a tire. My in-laws Suburban was the same way.

Good tires + 4wd + Ground Clearance = Get around good. You take any one of those away and your are going to have some trouble.
