haha still haven't opened it up all the way and yes I almost shit myself the first time I opened it up and that was only half to 3/4 throttle.

on a side note the bike isn't as pretty anymore I got stuck at work late and it started raining. I waited till it stopped for a while and was taking it super easy being extra careful trying to limp it home. well I was coming up too a stop light and not sure what happened maybe hit the front brake a little too hard but the front end slid out on me and I went down and slid through the red light and t-boned a car.

sounds a lot worse than it was all I got was a banged up shin and some road rash on my ankle and the bike is pretty much just cosmetic damage and it'll need a new rear tire. I'm quite the lucky guy today.

and no it's not cause this is a crazy hp bike I wasn't screwing around most likely woulda happened no matter what I was riding

Nice bike, Sorry to hear about the accident. Are the forks still straight and what not?

Damn, that would be my cue to sell the bike asap. Kinda why i got rid of mine, but Ive ridden in rain and never had a problem. You were going to fast or are a newb rider.

Might want to take the motorcycle safety course, its way worth it.

Or if you do, buy one that is a proper fit for your body size and rider skill.

this crash had pretty much nothing to do with rider skill. I know a couple people who've been riding for 10 plus years and and went down when it was wet out. Its a bike that is new to me and every bike rides different and I was unlucky enough to get caught in some rain. It happens

I've had three friends that died on bikes, I will never own one. Looks pretty cool though.

It has everything to do with rider skill. A skilled rider will ride according to weather, equipment, conditions, and surroundings. I have over 20k miles riding bikes including a few roadtrips where it rained the entire time. Zero crashes. Take the motorcycle safety training course and know the limits of both yourself and your equipment.

I'm sorry but this is one of the dumbest things I have heard for a while. yes experience makes a big difference and I may not be the most experienced rider but to say a skilled rider wouldn't have went down in the same situation is rediculous.

my dad had been riding for almost 20 years when he went down when it was wet out. my moms friend who has been riding for over 20 years went down in the rain on his way to sturgis. were these 2 newbs at riding? did they not know how to ride according to the conditions?? I think not. just saying no matter how skilled you are while your out on the road shit can happen.

I've ridden in the rain a bunch of times just not on this particular bike. but either way I was doing what I could to be safe. I tried to get a ride so I didn't have to ride it home in the rain but couldn't find one. I stayed off of the freeways and was going slow and taking it easy. the fact that I walked away with only a couple scrapes and a bruise on my left leg says a little about how I was riding

Re: my new toy!

So you're saying skilled/trained riders crash just as often as newbs?

tehehodi 09-24-2010 04:20 PM

Re: my new toy!

Theres two types of riders:

Ones that have gone down and Ones that will go down...

no not at all. just saying the way you went about saying what you did just made it seem like you were saying I'm a dumb newb who was screwing around when road conditions were slippery which is not the case. yes I'm still basically a newb but wasn't messing around was riding according to the conditions. every bike is different and rides different I was on a bike I wasn't 100% used to and either way still my mistake

all i'm saying is anyone can go down at any given time no matter how skilled
