You live in MN right? Scared of burglars and people robbing you? Get your permit to carry like I did. And whoever said you would get a manslaughter charge is wrong, if somebody breaks into your house and you shoot them, you wouldn't get in trouble.

In Texas if somebody even comes on your lawn you can shoot them, if you did that in MN you would get in trouble for sure.

But in the end a dog would be your best bet, and a gun somewhere easily accesible if something should happen.

Re: Damned Burglars

If you have to shoot someone in your home just make sure you establish 2 things, first that they are dead, and second that you make it clear in the police report that you thought your life was in danger (ie you didn't just shoot them 4 times in the back as they were running away with your TV-that's not going to fly).
Do those 2 things and you should be just fine. You might still find yourself sued for wrongful death, but you have a good chance of winning. The bigger the gun the better, you only want to shoot once. The last thing you want to do is try to explain to the police or a jury why the guy you just killed was shot eight times.

x2

And there isn't any handgun that is going to be better for home protection than a shotty, keep that in mind.

Probably the most reasonable route, at this point. Gun, IMO, has more cons vs. pros. Moving, most definately, probably won't happen until next year.

I feel better today, worked the strees out on the car.

Another one here recommending a shotty. They are cheap guns and as soon as you hear the sound of a shotty being pumped, that is good enough reason for a would-be burgler to get the f out asap.

I am in favor of the gun idea. I have my shotty and I also have a .40 cal glock just in case anything should happen. Nothing has yet but you never know.

Dog. I love my dog, If someone broke in he would probebly attempt to lick them or whip them with his tail, but pit bulls have their upsides to the stereotype of them being vicious.

Gun. Not only do you protect your family, you also get rid of one more scumbag and save taxpayers millions. Personally, I've got a nice aluminum bat by the bed, they wouldn't be leaving the house.
