Picked up the "real" boat on Saturday :)
Launched it around 1pm. It was a bit windy on our side of the lake, so the maiden voyage started out in some real rough water. Once we got to the other side of the lake the water was a bit calmer so we were able to cruise around for a couple hours, breaking in the motor, and enjoying the new boat :) It was a little chilly so we ended up with hoodies on, but it was still a blast. Sunday we got 5 of us on there and we all went skiing / wakeboarding. The 5.0 pulls people up out of the water pretty well. Two of them got up on 1 ski. I'm getting progressively better at wakeboarding. I still haven't jumped the wake, but I'm getting a little bit of air now, and able to land about 80% of the time. Which is pretty good considering I was hardly maybe getting a few inches of air last year, and hardly ever landing. We need to get a shorter tow rope, and a wakeboard tower eventually, but that'll come with time. On to some pics of the new girl. There are a couple flaws, but almost all of them will be taken care of this fall as we got a 6yr warantee. They told us to just take it for now, they noted all the issues, and enjoy it for the rest of the season and just bring it in for the warrantee stuff come late fall. |

Re: Phu(k Land
Niiice! What was break in procedure? We are still breaking in the bottom end on the yellow boat.. Not fun, but its because the gears arent polished so it needs to stay below 1500rpms for 15 hours. Easy to do on the river in no wake haha.

Re: Phu(k Land
Looks like fun Brandon! Congrats on the purchase.

Re: Phu(k Land
They told us to simply Vary the RPM's a lot for the first 20hrs. Don't baby it, but also don't run it balls to the wall. Sounded like decent advice in my opinion.
They said a good way to break it in is pulling skiers. That involves a lot of different loads on the boat, accellerating, decelerating, etc. But this is a newer engine with roller cams (he said). With other designs, it probably requires different break in processes. |
Re: Phu(k Land
Very cool, being able to actually use it like that right away is nice!
|
Re: Phu(k Land
Yeah it is.
And, someone is coming to pick up the fishing boat today for $3500. Considering I got it for $749, that's some nice quick cashola :) |
Re: Phu(k Land
Nicely done.
Congrats on the purchase, looks really good. |

Wow, that looks awesome. With all these people here with boats when is the Mitsustyle boat party?

Re: Phu(k Land
Not sure if you'd have fun, we don't setup cones in the water :P

Re: Phu(k Land
Bump! I got a ride in this mamma-jamma on Sunday with Anna. I honestly don't know if I've had such a nice ride on Ottertail lake ever in my life--the hull is very forgiving and with the v8 and prop choice this thing gets out of the hole like crazy. Love the seating arrangement too!
Looking back at your OP I cannot believe the price you got this thing for--makes me want one! The new ones come with fuel injection and the v8 option puts them over $30k. |
Re: Phu(k Land
Makes me want to get mine on the water. Mine is very similar in size and style, but with the 4.3 GM engine. Turns out the engine block was cracked so I put in a used motor, just finishing up the external accessories and such. These are the perfect size boats for entertaining family and friends.
