I keep trying to get you guys to deal with the dedicated sales people over here, I'm a little rusty lol. In this case, however, it wasn't my fault for once. Apparently our vendor got it into their head that 2g and Evo gaskets are the same, which may appear to be the case until you realize that the Evo injectors are on the intake manifold! Sometimes I just can't believe the service in this industry...

This.

And you know I'm cool about the flywheel, Chris. It's not like I've never made mistakes at my job, prepaying people at the wrong pumps or anything. We all do it, you're a great guy, and honestly, where would we be without you?

Your cars would likely be running (albeit closer to stock form) and you would have more money in your pockets lol ;) Thanks for the kind words guys!

Pssh, running cars and bank accounts with more than $100 in them are overrated.

I thought the spacers were junk because they tend to melt and cause more issues then they make power? I know my spacer melted on my 2g causing a nice size leak and horrible tuning issues? Mine was from Magnus.

After discovering the issue with the distributor Chris dug through some boxes and discovered the correct spacer!

I got home, scarfed some nummy greek food and got to it. bolted up intake manifold, threw the head on (THANKS AGAIN HUGHES!), and ran into a quick roadblock.

Last night I had the new L19's installed:

I ended up having to pull one of them back out once the head was on b/c the washers are so big it got bound up on the spring. :(

Once that was sorted, torqued the L19's to 91 ft-lbs, hooked up the cam gears, and put the valve cover on. Hughes had to take off just as Jim showed up to offer me moral support. I was gonna be done at this point but Anna was doing other stuff so I just kept my head down and buttoned everything back up! Filled the coolant and ran some o'reily's 10w30 oil through it for a few minutes, drained it, changed oil filter, filled with Mobil1 10w30 and started it again to make sure all was well. While the oil was draining I did a quick boost leak test and discovered that I might have ripped one of the injector seals when it popped in (felt a tish of a pop as it seated :( ). So, I'll check that out tomorrow and finish putting the heat shields and whatnot on.

Thanks again for all those who helped me, even those who didn't help this time around but helped me last time. Definitely not afraid to do a HG again, just hopefully its not on this car! :D

That seemed to be the case before, but it seems as though those issues are a thing of the past. I have no EGR gasses going into my IM at all anymore, so the only heat will be from direct contact with the head and the bolts that hold it on.

sweet. I already got david on a shopping list for his evo..so far, I've got a FMIC from ETS going on soon. Then, some coilovers, hopefully some black enkei RPF-1's in a 18x 9.5 variant or so, cams, springs/retainers, etc.

Your evo makes me jealous..just how responsive it is, and yet still pulls..seat of the pants, it feels as fast as my car. I want your car.

Man Scheides I'm so excited to have mine up soon! Glad MAP got everything sorted for your barrier gasket and that everything went back together well!

Hopefully mine works just as well :)

Buttoned up everything but the undertray and the strut-tower bar after work and made it out to Wagner's with everyone tonight. Felt so good to drive the car again! It's a ton of fun, but needs some tuning. Time for logging and a visit to DB.
