Sounds about right :score009:

No, not much of a DD, especially with the current exhaust set up of 3" pipe ending at about the rear axle line.

I do plan on putting the door panels back on for now. Until I get better (and lighter) seats and harness, I don't want anybody getting cut up trying to hold on/stay in place. More of a safety thing than anything else.

Passenger seat what? ;)

Re: Project: XP Stealth

Well :( It's 3060lbs and still missing the radiator and IC (pipes are in the car though). And it's only got about 4 gallons of gas in it. I'm guessing about 3130 will be the "final" current weight, with fuel, coolant, ic and door panels. Just makes me even more impressed with those select few that put the time and $ into getting these things under the 3000lb mark. I guess I'll have to see how it does. But I don't have the light rims on, I'll have to see what the difference in weight of the rim/tire combo is, the rims are ~10lbs lighter (each), but I'm not sure about the tires, 30mm wider.

On the plus side, light weight seats, and other more expensive parts are yet to be installed.

Edit: the race wheels will be -40lbs total.

I think it's time to ditch the crash bars maybe...
-21lbs for the front.
-36lbs rear.
-3lbs for one rear tow hook.
-~22lbs for the glass roof that I can take off at events... So close.

Time to start cutting.

Thats pretty light for a 3s ryan. You've still got room with your listed items, plus possibly flaring sheet metal, and swapping out glass for lighter bits.

Fuk dude sounds like you are about ready to hit the streets in this thing. I say fuk the weight for now, it's light enough. Get it running and driving, start to dial in the suspension and get the thing shaken down. Then come back and finish the weight reduction stuff, you've come a long way so far!

I just drove it up to the neighbor's and back. Needs an alignment bad, the steering wheel is 1/4 turn right to go straight.

MustGoFaster 06-09-2009 11:53 PM

Re: Project: XP Stealth

I did a half-assed aligment (eye balled it) and have taken it for a few short spins. With the open exhaust it needs a bit more fuel in boost. I tossed in 10% accross the board, it still goes a bit lean. I added some more but haven't tried it yet.

I need to do a better alignment or something though. It seemed to get a bit squirrelly a couple times that I got on it. Maybe it's just the front diff + the roads or something but it was enough to surprise me the second time.

I put the rest of the exhaust on as well, made it much quieter, inside at least. Straight 3" ending next to the rear diff.

So bring up one of your rims and we can make the toe adjuster things to attach to your rims, and almost 1000lbs less will have A LOT of effect on how fast the car is, and load so the tune will be a little off. A little less tree dodging and more aligning/tuning. Its nice to see the IC and radiator holding up nice.

word, 1000lbs less will really throw off the load for the car. Hit me up when you are ready to try to tune it (Thursdays work best now, I have an opening next week).

So, after a bunch of little finishing touches (making sure everything it bolted down, zip tied and in general order) and some cleaning, I'm ready to put it through it's paces tomorrow. I am attending the intermediate school MAC is putting on, so not a competition event, but it should be a good test and shake down.

Re: Project: XP Stealth

So, it was an easy fix. Apparently my AEM really wanted to be in an EVO. So after a reminder (firmware and cal upload) it figured out that it's in something with a few more cylinders. :D

Kevin 1G Drummer 06-26-2009 08:34 AM

Re: Project: XP Stealth

So it just randomly switched two cylinders off? Seems kinda weird to me.

MustGoFaster 06-26-2009 08:39 AM

Re: Project: XP Stealth

AEM's will sometimes do weird things when you have a latop hooked up to them. It is a little weird to switch off two cylinders, normally it will just die and not start untill you just cycle the power to the ECU.
