So the crankwalk issue isnt an issue with the 6 bolt?

Re: 95 TSI project questions

^^^nope, the 6 bolt is the way to go if you can help it. it wont walk away unlike the 7 bolts commonly do.

Re: 95 TSI project questions

I've heard that it is possible for a 6 bolt to walk. Its just uncommon...
I could be wrong though..

I have never heard of a 6 bolt walking, however I have heard of later '94's with the 7 bolts walking.

A 6 bolt will walk if the thrust bearing isn't torqued properly. It's pretty hard to mess that up though, so it's very uncommon.

Re: 95 TSI project questions

OK I’m kind of stupid. i found a guy that would check my compression but being that I’m in Iraq i forget that its prolly cold in mn and that there’s snow on the ground still, so instead of having him work on it outside while hell freeze his balls off I’m going to wait till it gets warmed up and then check the compression and the coolant leak and if those are ok, then I’m going to use the little bit of $ uncle Sam gave me for being in Mosul for a year and start buying every ones used parts and begging ppl to help me do the work lol

OOOOK I've been told by some ppl, "EBAY IS YOUR FRIEND"

so i find all kinds of great deals on there lol

* 4G63 TD05H 16G TURBO+INTERCOOLER+MANIFOLD for $625 shipped.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-99...Q5fAccessories

Say i bought that ? what else would i need? somthing like MAPS 2g dsm 16g turbo install kit? or can i just do it with what i have ? would that even be a good deal or worth it ?

Re: 95 TSI project questions

Ebay is NOT your friend for turbos. And probably not manifolds.
Buy a new turbo or one from someone local that you know is reputable, I have much personal experience with bad used turbos.

Sooo you bought an ebay turbo kit?...

Re: 95 TSI project questions

eBay is your enemy for a lot of car parts. There are only a few things I recomend and those are mainly simple things that aren't vital or contain moving parts.

Re: 95 TSI project questions

You Realize you sent me the link for a $3,000 turbo? I thought the FP Green on my STi was expensive? This is going to be a cheap project for me.
Ive sold all of my cars (or crashed them)
I'm going back to school when i get home, and i just want a sporty daily driver. I only want to spend $3000 total to get the car running and it needs a new clutch turbo brakes and suspension.
