I hear ya. I've pretty much stopped all my major spending as I am unsure what will happen with my new job. I just transferred into this new position, and they may have to lay people off now. I know I'm not the first one on the chopping block, but it just depends on how many they decide to lay off. So I'm just trying to spend a bit more wisely now a days.

Geez, sorry to hear so many people having problems. I have to say though, the slow economy is actually good for me. I've got job security coming out my nose as a dispatcher. For how shitty it is working for a government agency this is where it really pays off.

I'm down to only keeping money for gas and 1 bill every 2 weeks. The rest goes to my mom so we can keep our house. She lost her company car, and barely made any money before that, so now we have to get another car. And mine just had the timing belt tensioner go out and the belt skipped some teeth. Now I gotta see if I fucked up my valves as my car happens to be an interference engine.

I'm serious about my earlier post. If anyone does not mind relocating and needs a job, drop me an e-mail (jmbolson @ gmail.com). Hagie Manufacturing Company is located in Clarion, IA, an hour SW of Mason City.

I was laid off 2 weeks ago from a small construciton company. Trying to decide whether to check into a new line of work or, wait and get hired back on come spring time. Not to mention, try to find a job which pays decently well in the area...ughhh.

As some of you know I work at a Casino; I work in the Slots Department in Managment. The thing I find funny about this so called "terrible" economy is that there are still a shit ton of people going to the Casino's and spending their money. Sure buisness fell off a bit when gas was $4 per gallon but it wasn't that significant.

I remember when I first got my job at a casino 13 years ago; 4 of my buddies were going to college and eventually graduated with degrees in IT. I was jealous at the time because I figured their future would be a lot brighter than mine.

Fast forward 13 years, all but one of them does not have a job in the field of their degree and none of them have had a steady job for more than a year. And the 4 of them combined don't make as much per year as I do.

My point is that in my opinion the economy has just shifted; the jobs that were once thought of as for sure things are no longer the way to go and some of the jobs that were looked down upon are now some of the most secure.

Shit if I were a kid graduating high school I would go to school for health care, that is about the only for sure thing their is out there IMO.

If anyone is a .Net developer I can get them a job where I work, we can't hire people fast enough either.
