Do you want 400whp on dynojet, or dyno dynamics? There is a bit of a difference. |

Yeah, I am looking at the 256/258 and now 259...Looks like a good turbo. |
Re: Help me choose a turbo setup!
Do a PTE bolt on 50 trim, slightly bigger than the 20g and loves boost. I had a 50 trim on my 2.0 and it was perfect for the street. It should do 400 awhp on a DD and still spool basically the same as the 20g. You can even get a BB version of it :D

Re: Help me choose a turbo setup!
Maybe ride in or drive some cars. Check out Brads setup with the FP3065 on a 7.8:1 compression stock 1G motor. There are a bunch of quick 16G E85 cars. 1Quick4 has a 50-trim E85 stock beat motor in his GVR4.
Nothing is going to touch the spool to power ratio of an Evo 3 16G, but you probably aren't going to get close to 400awhp on a Dyno Dynamics with a stockish 1G motor. The 2Gs and Evos with their compression ratio and heads usually shine with that turbo. A 20G is a decent turbo, but the 16Gs are so good nowdays that it isn't much of an upgrade and usually not cheap. The normal GT3076 turbos aren't anything to crazy, they have a small amount more potential than your run of the mill T3/T4 turbos. The jump from the T3/T4s and GT3076 to the 61mm turbos is a little big, they are laggy on the 2.0ls, but they have a lot more power potential. If you can afford an FP turbo, then look into them. Even the older ones always spool very well for their size and still make good power. |
Re: Help me choose a turbo setup!
I want to upgrade to a Holset HX35/H1C. I've heard they are amazing. Around 3500rpm spool and 500awhp. Get one at a junkyard cheap and buy a dsm bolton housing for a couple hundred. The sleeper look of the 16G will be gone with how huge the Holset compressor housing looks, but oh well.
My E3 16G did 370 on the dd, and 414 on the dynojet. Never dyno tuned. I'm sure mine would break 400 on the dd dyno if I ported my turbo so it could hold a couple more psi of boost, installed adjustable cam gears, and maybe a half hour on the dyno. I have about the same or less cranking compression than my 1g's have had, stock 2g IM, ported 2G exhaust manifold, 22-23 psi at peak power (5600-5700 rpms). |

Thats a very decent deal. Looks like a nice setup if in your price range. Get a FP manifold and be set. :) |
Re: Help me choose a turbo setup!
It is a great deal, Plus I have dealt with the guy and he is cool.
I wanted to add that If i had money to spend like you want to I would choose between FP HTA stuff or BW ET stuff. |
Re: Help me choose a turbo setup!
I think if I ever do another setup, it will utilize as much FP stuff as possible. They make good stuff that simply works, and it all fits together well. They may be more spendy then others, but in the end you have a clean and proven setup, backed by a great company. If I could go back in time...

Re: Help me choose a turbo setup!
I really like my fp3065. I made the power that you're shooting for on it and it's a quality setup. Its a very fun car on the street and doesn't seem very laggy to me. If you ever wanted a ride o see what you'd be getting into I'd be more than willing.
The only thing I don't like is the super expensive 02 housings that you need. Other than that, I love my setup. |

Brad can I get a ride sometime?

Re: Help me choose a turbo setup!
I'd personally stay away from FP; terrible customer service (flat-out liars) and they'll never be getting a penny from me. I'm not exactly impressed with their product either. I'm sure I'm one of the few here with those feelings but thats my experience and opinion.

Oh, and +1 for FP, I stuck with an FP setup, spendy, but you get what you pay for. |

After dealing with them regarding cams I have no interest in attempting to purchase a turbo from them. |
Re: Help me choose a turbo setup!
Meh, FP is a good place.
Kevin, get a HTA88! or whatever they got thats the new hot street setup! |
Re: Help me choose a turbo setup!
I've bought a lot of shiz from FP over the years, and its all worked out nicely.

I'd also like a ride if ever possible. The only problem I ever had with FP is my card kept getting declined. Turns out my bank has had TONS of problems with fraud in Texas and won't allow purchases in Texas without an exception. Not really their fault. However, the nut swingers are almost as bad as Buschur or AMS. At least their products do what they say they do. |
Re: Help me choose a turbo setup!
Only problem I have had with FP is there "coating" turns out there coating is houseshit and comes off instantly when blasted compared to other, basically it coated like one pass with a can of spray paint.
