I think Joe Gangster is Rick's son. Their posts have a similar vibe. ;)

My car works very well with the smaller battery. I don't have any neons, a stereo or other power robbing accessories. My car is substantially lightened, so saving some extra weight with the battery serves a purpose. It also unclutters the engine bay and makes the tranny that much more accessible for quick clutch swaps at the track.

I had a rear mounted battery, I didn't like the extra complication so I put the mini battery up front directly on the subframe. Does exactly what I want, saves me 20+ lbs and they're cheap. So I have to replace it each year at $20 a crack, fine with me.
And you don't have to put a cutoff switch on the back of the car to make it legal at drag strips.

who's rick? and i'm sorry if i sound rude, why am i called someone's son, i sense someone is comparing me to another and belittling/inferiorizing me by calling me a son. i'm not a son of anyone but my dad, Dr. Geng, Ph.D., M.D..

I have a heavy car, therfore I should have a heavy battery.
Thats my reasoning on this topic, lol.

That and the fact the average age on this board is something in the early 20's, and Rick is 56 makes it a solid assumption.

If you don't know Rick's posts, you won't get it.

oh okay. i see. i was just making sure i wasn't called the 'son' of someone who may just be in his 20's. hehe, i understand

What do you have in mind? Pull-start? Kick-start? I assume that you mean the small battery is not needed ;) To be honest though, after taking out a regular batt (34lbs) and putting in the 10.8 lbs I could feel a bit more responsivness from the front-end.

JoeGengsta 03-07-2004 04:55 PM

oh my gosh chris. lol :)

One of the starters they use for Top Fuel cars on the blower pulley. Adapt it to our cam gears.

And Rick could be my dad, and I'm 15 years older than most of you. :toast:
